The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. I taped a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Balmy Blue to the top of it.
The DSP is from the "You're a Peach" 12" x 12" package. I didn't have any Christmas DSP so I thought this striped image would work well. After I had finished my card I remembered I had gotten the matching penguin DSP. SO much for a good memory!!! LOL Anyway, my card worked out and that's all that mattered.
I cut my DSP 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" and I taped it to the Balmy Blue piece.
The words are from the "Penguin Place" set and were stamped using Balmy Blue ink. I die cut them with the die from the "Frightful Tags" die pack. I added Dimensionals to the back and I set them aside.
I stamped the penguin from the "Penguin Place" set using black Memento ink. The feet and beak were stamped using Crushed Curry ink and the penguin and feet were punched out. The beak was fussy cut. The hat was stamped using Balmy Blue ink and was fussy cut too.
I glued the feet, beak and hat in place.
I took the dome and traced it onto a piece of Balmy Blue card stock. I trimmed inside the pencil lines so it wouldn't show once attached to the dome. I stamped the snowflakes using Balmy Blue ink. Then I glued the penguin in place.
The dome was turned over and some white glitter was added to it. Then I removed the covering and exposed the sticky layer. I set the Balmy Blue piece I had cut out on top of the dome.
I did regret not getting the die for the dome but I just couldn't afford it, I bought too many other items. So I glued the dome piece to the front of the card. I thought I'd just leave it with the white protective layer and then I thought I should remove it. It's not meant to be on there permanently and could come off, so I removed it and added glitter.
The words were added and the card was done.
It didn't dawn on me until I was done with the card but I could trace that strip I took off and make a template that I can fussy cut out to put over the dome to hide those edges. DUH! See, I told you "so much for a good memory"! But I will try hard to remember that when I use the domes again. They are just too darn cute and I thought they'd be fun to play with using the penguin.
This was a fun card to make. It was nice thinking of snow on such a hot day.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's Christmas card,
Wanda
