Artistically Inked, Birthday Card, 2021-2022 Stampin' Up! Catalog

When I finished making this card the first words out of my mouth were "close"!  I found this card on Pinterest and I thought it would be fun to make one.  You can see the original card here. Here's how I made this card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White for the focal piece.

I took a scrap piece of Basic White card stock and added the double sided sticky paper to it so I could use it as a sticker. I just couldn't imaging gluing all of the edges on that piece.  UGH!!!  I die cut the flowers image using the die from the "Artistic Dies" set.

Next the die cut piece was colored using Blends Pens. I didn't have the Misty Monlight or the Lovely Lipstick ones, so I substituted light Night of Navy and dark Flirty Flamingo.  I also used dark Granny Apple Green, dark Old Olive, dark Highland Heather and dark Calypso Coral Blends pens.

I stamped the words from the "Artistically Inked" set using Smoky Slate ink on the 4" x 5-1/4" focal piece. Then I used the "Tasteful Textiles" embossing folder to texture the piece.

The flowers image was set in place on the focal piece and then the ribbon was added to the bottom. I cut a 6" piece of ribbon and taped the edges to the back. The ribbon went under the leaves on the original card. I may have moved my flower up too far.  It may have looked better if I had used Basic Gray ink so the words were darker and moved the flower down even more and omitted the ribbon. Dimenisonals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the card base.

I colored three rhinestones using the dark Old Olive Blends pen and set them in place on the focal piece.

This was fun to make but I don't know if I'd make another one. The coloring was okay but I don't think I'd like to do it again.  Trying to define where a flower petal started and a leaf ended was a bit challenging.  But I am happy with the way it turned out. It's very colorful and cheery. This would also make a pretty Mother's Day card, Get Well card, Thank You card and Thinking of You card.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see this colorful birthday card,
Wanda

I love this idea. It's really striking. To get the different colors, did you just use the blenders to color the paper or did you color after you cut the piece out? Very cute.
