Hand-Penned Petals, Get Well Card, 2021-2022 Stampin' Up! Catalog

I had run across a piece of Petal Pink card stock that was textured using the "Tasteful Textures" embossing folder.  And I found on Pinterest a card with a fun layout. You can see the original card here

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock.  I cut 1" off the front. I cut that textured piece of Petal Pink card stock at 3" x 5-1/4".  I cut mine at 2-7/8" which was 1/8" too short. I don't know what I was thinking but I used it anyway!

I also cut a 1-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Subtles 6" x 6" stack.  I LOVE having these stacks. You get a lot of DSP for your cards in several fun designs.  Though I do with that Stampin' Up! would always keep polka dots in their stacks.  But I do have to say that these designs are SO much better than the ones from last year. I found them very hard to work with and the one I used the most was the circles one, which was as close to polka dots as I could get. I taped the strip to the inside right of the card. Now when the card is closed you see both the card stock and the DSP.

I die cut the largest "Stitched" circle using Basic White card stock.

The flower was stamped on a piece of Basic White card stock using black Memento ink. I colored the flowers using my Blends pens. I used both light and dark Petal Pink for the flowers and both light and dark Mint Macaron for the leaves and stems. I also used a little light Pumpkin Pie for some highlights on the flowers.  I had used the dark Mango Melody for the center of the right flower but the color just blended in and got lost.  I die cut the flowers and then set them on top of the circle to see where the words should go.

I set the circle up in my Stamparatus and covered the word "friend" that is under the "feel better" and I inked up the words, removed the tape I covered "friend" with and stamped the words.

I set the circle in place using Dimensionals over 2/3's of the circle. Be careful not to get any over that cut off edge or it will stick to the inside of your card and your card won't open.  And no, I didn't make that mistake (this time! LOL).

The flower was set in place on the circle using Dimensionals.  Again, make sure they don't hang over the top petals or it could cause some unwanted problems. I did do that. But I caught it before it stuck to the textured paper and made the flower bend funny.

I added some crystal rhinestones. One particularly in the center of the flower to hide that Mango Melody mess. And I scattered a few around the front of the card. The original card has a ribbon bow on the stem of the flower. It's pretty but I didn't have that ribbon and I thought the rhinestones would carry the embellishments.   But I did add some Wink of Stalla on the flowers were the highlights are. It was a nice soft subtle touch. And of course it doesn't show up in the photo but it's there. And the card was done.

I do like how it turned out but if I were to make another one, I think I would use two different designs of the DSP instead of texturing the card stock. I am not a big fan of that texture, I liked the Subtle one that just retired. Some embossing folders should never retire. Like the Subtle one and the polka dot one and there was a fun striped one too. I still have mine and sometimes use them on other cards.

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop by and see this sweet get well card,
Wanda
