The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. On top of that is a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Blushing Bride that was textured using the "Brick & Mortar" embossing folder. I curled the upper right and bottom left corners and separated the layers. I had three pieces showing. Then I glued this piece to the front of the card. I often glue heavily textured pieces because I find there isn't enough smooth surfaces for the tape to make contact and stick well. Glue does the trick!
I cut a 4-1/2" x 3-1/4" piece of Vellum. I don't work with Vellum much. I like the look of it and especially on this card. Before I taped it down I die cut the stitched rectangle piece. I used the 4th smallest die in the group of 8 from the "Rectangle Stitched Framelets" pack. I flipped the vellum piece over and lined up the rectangle behind it so I could see where to put the tape so it wouldn't show. Once the tape was on I set the vellum piece in place. If you don't have the rectangle dies you can cut your piece 2-1/4" x 3-1/2".
I die cut some Basic White greenery from the "Poppy Moments" die set and set them aside.
I didn't have the brassy rings from Stampin' Up!, so I made a ring using Soft Suede card stock and two circle dies. I used the 1-7/8" and 1-5/8" dies. The ring in the photo looks much darker than it does in real life. You could always use Crumb Cake card stock too but I think something darker would be better.
Stamped the tiny flowers from the "Sweet Strawberry" set using Blushing Bride ink. This card used 6 flowers. The centers of the flowers were colored in using the light Daffodil Delight Blends pen. You can either fussy cut them or use the matching punch.
The strawberries were stamped using Soft Suede ink for the outline and Flirty Flamingo for the solid part of them. The stems were stamped using black Memento ink for the outline and were stamped using Old Olive ink for the solid part. You can either fussy cut them or use the matching punch. The stems were glued into place on top of the strawberries.
I colored the center area of the stitched rectangle using a Blends pen.
Next I stamped the words using Flirty Flamingo ink. Then I stamped them again using black memento ink. But I masked off the "happy birthday" so I could just have the "you sweet thing" on the Basic White piece. Once the "you sweet thing" was stamped I die cut the words using the smallest stitched rectangle in the same rectangle dies package. This rectangle is in the set of four long rectangles. If you don't have these dies you can just cut your piece 1-1/2" x 2-1/2". Now here's the part I really didn't like. I had to fussy cut the "Happy birthday" words. UGH! The "Happy Birthday" part was glued to the top part of the rectangle. I only added glue to the bottom area of the "birthday". But now the fussy cutting was all done and I'm ready to assemble my card.
I took the larger stitched rectangle and colored the center using my light Petal Pink Blends pen. It was not the right color but I wasn't going to make another rectangle and I was hoping that once the card was done no one would notice. Now that I told you, you can see it. Right? LOL I added some tape to the back of the rectangle and hovered over the vellum piece so I could see where to add them without them sticking over the sides of the card. I want to make sure I can get my card in the envelope. Once the white die cut pieces were in place, I turned the piece over and added scotch tape to hold them. Then I added Dimensionals on the back and set the piece in place on top of the vellum piece.
I poured a little bit of glue on a piece of waxed paper and folded it in half. I took my bone folder and went over the area to think it out. I set the Soft Suede ring on top of the glue and pressed it down with a clean piece of waxed paper over it. I removed it from the glue and set it in place on the rectangle.
Next the small flowers were added on the left. One was taped down and the other two were set in place using Dimensionals.
Then the strawberries were set in place, both were just taped down.
The word piece came next. It was glued in place. On the backside, I ran a line of glue from the left to the end of the word "thing" and set it on top of the card just above the strawberries. I did tuck it under the right strawberry just a little bit and I made sure the stem didn't cover the words. Using the Tombow multi glue. It gives you a little time to move your piece around before it sets up.
After the word piece was in place, I added the left flower. It needed to be tucked in under the edge so I did this before the glue was completely set up. The flower on the upper part by the words was set in place with a dot of glue too. And the flower between the strawberries was set in place using a Dimensional.
Each of the flowers got a small pearl added to their centers and the card was done.
It took a little time but it was SO worth it. Even without having the same leafy dies, I still like how it turned out.
