A Touch of Ink, Berry Blessings, Thank You Card, 2021 Stampin' Up! Sale-a-Bration Catalog

Today's card was a lot more time consuming that I had thought it would be.  But it was such a pretty card that I just had to make it. And I had some extra time to spend on making a card that would take longer than just 20 minutes or so.  So I went for it.  You can see the original card here.  There are not instructions on how to make it, so here is how I did it.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock and the top layer is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock.

The first thing I did was I stamped the butterfly from the "A Touch of Ink" set using black Memento ink. Then I fussy cut it out. I colored the butterfly using the light Sea Side Spray Blends pen. I colored in the whole butterfly.  Then I added some dark Sea Side Spray going from the body up about 1/3rd and I did that at the top of the wings too, coloring down about 1/3rd of the way.   Next I used the light Night of navy and colored up from the body about half way in the dark Sea Side Spray area. I repeated that for the top of the wings.  The dark Night of Navy was used very sparingly along the body and at the top part of the wings.  I took the Sea Side Spray pen and colored over the butterfly again except in the center. I did that to make the colors blend together better. I didn't know what was used for the dots on the wings but it wasn't the original shape the stamped image made them, so I took the Dark Basic Black Blends pen and coloreed in the top of the wings. I took a toothpick and snipped the end a little. I dipped it in some acrylic white paint and dotted it on the wings. Then I set it aside while I worked on the other parts of the card.

The first thing I stamped on the Whisper White piece of card stock was the lower leaves. I used black Memento ink to stamp them.  I used the solid leaves stamp and I stamped over the leaves using Granny Apple Green ink.  After I stamped that I realized I should have colored the leaves with Blends pens. SO I colored over the leaves using the light Old Olive Blends pen. Then I took the dark Old Olive pen and drew over the veins in the leaves. I also used the light Mossy Meadow Blends pen to add some more color to the veins. I colored over the whole leaf with the light Old Olive Blends pen again. 

Now for the berries. They are from the "Berry Blessings" set.  I actually held my berry cluster (of three) stamp up to my computer screen to see which way the berries went that could be stamped together in one stamping. The ones just above the top part of the leaf was the first set of three berries. I stamped those in  using black Memento ink. I also stamped the berries on a piece of copier paper so I could make a mask because some of the berries appear to be behind other berries and I would need to mask the stamped ones off to add the ones behind them.  I did find that I was able to block a lot of the unwanted berries using a post it note over the area I didn't want to get ink on, plus I tried to get ink only on the one berry I wanted, which ended up being the middle size berry.

Above the leaf on the right was another spot that I was able to stamp all three berries at one time. Then I added three medium berries before I stamped the next leaf.  After the next leaf was stamped, I was able to add one more set of berries. The medium one in that set is right next to the new leaf where the stem will be added later. And one more medium berry was added next to the one where the stem will be added.  

The berries were colored in same fashion as the butterfly was, starting with the lightest and moving to the darker pens.  I took extra care to only color that center area once. You want the berries to look like the light is shining on them, plus it gives the illusion of the berries being round.  

I colored in the second set of leaves the same way I did on the first set. 

I drew the stems in using the Basic Black Blends pen and I colored them in using the dark Old Olive Blends pen. 

The words are from the "Berry Blessings" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. 

Once all the stamping and coloring was done, I took the light Sea Side Spray Blends pen and colored around the berries and leaves. I did set the butterfly where it was going to go so I could see where to color in it's shadow. 

I did see that Misty Moonlight Blends pens were used in the card but I don't have that color so I just used what I had. I'm not sure if the light Misty Moonlight would have been better and lighter for the outlining but Sea Side Spray did the job for me and I'm happy with how it turned out.

I colored some crystal Rhinestones using my dark Old Olive and Night of Navy Blends pens. I set them aside for a couple of minutes to dry.

I taped the stamped piece on top of the card base and then I set the butterfly in place using Dimensionals. The rhinestones were added and the card was done.

I'm not sure who I'm going to send this out to. I do love how it turned out though.
