The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Granny Apple Green card stock. This card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.
I took a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock and I taped it to the card base.
I cut a 4-3/4" x 3-1/2" piece of Mossy Meadow card stock and a 4-5/8" x 3-3/8" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from a retired pack of card stock (Toil & Trouble). Now here was where I wasn't sure what to do. I usually make cards with small images and use this layout. I was hoping I could make it work. And by turning it sideways I was able to make it work. Though the opening should have been moved the the right side a bit more but you didn't notice that until I told you, did you?
To do the openings, I added a little bit of double sided tape in the area I was going to punch out. First I used my 1-1/4" circle punch. I set the two pieces all the way into the punch. I looked on each side to make sure it was lined up equally and then I punched both out at the same time.
Then I took the DSP and added a scrap piece of copier paper behind it and punched out a ring using the 1-3/8" circle punch. Then I taped the two pieces together.
The frog was stamped using black Memento ink on a 2" x 2" piece of scrap Whisper White card stock. I colored him in using both light and dark Granny Apple Green Blender pens. I set the image in place using Dimensionals around the back of the circle. I lined up the frog and stuck it to the layers.
Dimensionals were added to the back of the Mossy Meadow piece and it was set in place on top of the Whisper White piece.
The words were printed on my computer. I used the "AgencyFB font at size 12. I printed it out on Whisper White card stock. I cut it to 1-3/4" x 2-3/4". I cut a Granny Apple Green piece for the layer that measured 1-7/8" x 2-7/8". I added Dimensionals to the back and set it in place on the front of the card. The words on the card are:
May the light always find you
on a dreary day.
When you need to be home
may you find your way.
May you always have courage
to take a chance,
and never find frogs
in your underpants.
- Irish Blessing
Funny, huh? See why I just had to make a card with it? I think it's SO funny. Not too sure who I am going to send it to but I think I would use it to cheer someone up.
Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop by today and have a look and hopefully a laugh, Wanda
Wanda, this is an adorable card. I'm going to send the poem in some masculine birthday cards I made recently. I think they will love it. Sorry, I missed the post back in January.
