Snow Front, In the Pines, Christmas Card

Isn't today's card amazing?  That was what I said when I first saw it and I knew I had to give it a try. I had most of the stuff to make it, so why not give it a try. And besides, it's my Christmas Day post so, go for it, right? You can see the original card here. I was a bit disappointed because there weren't a lot of instructions. So here is how I made it.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Sahara Sand card stock. That is a color I rarely use, so it was nice to be able to take one of those from  my cupboard!!

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Classic Christmas" 6" x 6" stack. 

The dies are from the "Stitched Rectangle" dies pack. The site did give the measurements but if you kept your dies the way they came from the factory (which you probably did because they are difficult to store any other way) you will need the single small wide rectangle die. That goes on the top right. Then you will need the second largest in the group of 4 of the long thinner rectangles, that one goes on the bottom and you will need the second smallest in the group of 8.  Now wasn't that a lot easier than having to measure each one?? I lined up the dies on the DSP and taped them with some post it note tape. Then I cut them out on the 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" piece of Sahara Sand dotted DSP.  

The DSP will be attached to a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Merry Merlot card stock. I set the DSP on top, lined it up and then I used post it tape to hold it. I lined up the dies again on top of both pieces and cut the Merry Merlot. You need these rectangles to all line up exactly the same. 

Next I die cut the three rectangles using Whisper White card stock. 

Now comes the fun part. You will be stamping the images using markers. I used Pool Party, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Mossy Meadow, Shaded Spruce and Smoky Slate.  I had messed up on the bottom image but I decided to keep it because it's a lot of work and I think it turned out just fine. 

For the bottom piece, I stamped the trees after coloring the top part with Mossy Meadow and thumping it with some Shaded Spruce. I added some Soft Suede to the bottom part and I huffed on it and stamped it on the die cut rectangle.  Then I added some Pool Party to one of the ground images and stamped it on the piece. I used that same piece for the ground under the deers. I used the Soft Suede marker. I also used Soft Suede for the deers. A little Pool Part was added to the ground image under the deers. And that piece was done. 

Then I did the cabin piece. I stamped the cabin using the Crumb Cake marker.  I colored in the windows and door using the Smoky Slate marker.  I covered the cabin with a mask, I had one from another card and it was affixed to the inside of the stamp set so I didn't have to make a new one.  Then I colored in the tree using Mossy Meadow and I thumped on some Shaded Spruce. When I stamped the tree it wasn't far enough into the rectangle so I had to wipe it off and move it so more of the tree would show, so that might be why mine is darker .  I used the ground stamp for under the cabin. I colored on some Pool Party and then thumped on some Crumb Cake. I took the Smoky Slate marker and defined the ground where the cabin meets it.  And that piece was done.

And finally, the snowman.  I colored the trees in first using my Mossy Meadow marker and I thumped on some Shaded Spruce, though it didn't show up very well.  Then I added some Pool Party under the tree with the ground stamp and below the Pool Party image I used the same stamp and added some Crumb Cake. To the right I used that same stamp but it was upside down and I added some Mossy Meadow.  Then I stamped the snowman using my Pool Party marker.  I colored the edges in after he was stamped. I used Smoky Slate for that, including his arms. The hat was colored in using the Basic Black marker and the eyes too. The nose was colored using the Pumpkin Pie marker. Once again the ground stamp was used under the snowman.  I colored it with Pool Party and then thumped on lots of Crumb Cake.  I turned the stamp upside down and added some more ground the same way on the bottom right. And that panel was done.

I used Dimensionals on the back of the DSP piece.  You can use the sticky strips if you have them. I wasn't able to locate mine so I guess I'm out of them and need to order more.  Affix the DSP to the Merry Merlot piece. Line up the edges evenly and then press down. Tape this piece to the front of the card.

Next I added the images in each opening. 

The words are from the "In the Pines" set and were stamped using Versa Mark on a 3/4" x 2-3/8" piece of Merry Merlot. White embossing powder was sprinkled on and heat set. The left side was clipped into a "V" and the piece was taped onto the top of the DSP.  A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White was added to the inside and the card was finally done!!!  I said I'd probably not make another one but once you know what you're doing it doesn't seem so bad. I guess never say never, right?
