Snow Front, Christmas Card

I found this gem on the internet and again it was a card I had to give a try. It was a bit more detailed then the cards I've been making lately but every now and then you have to challenge yourself. You can see the original card by clicking here. This was a challenge for me as there were not directions on how to make this card, so this is how I did it.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. This card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut two 4" x 5-1/4" pieces of Whisper White card stock, one to stamp on and the other to die cut and emboss on.

I took one of the cut pieces of card stock and I first stamped the mountains using Smoky Slate ink.  Then I stamped the trees. I used my markers to color on the stamp itself. I colored the trees with Shaded Spruce and then I thumped on some Mossy Meadow.  Beneath the trees I used the Smoky Slate marker. I was amazed at how much darker my marker was than my ink pad.

Next the single tree was added. I also used Shaded Spruce and then thumped on some Mossy Meadow. I colored the trunk with Early Espresso. I also drew a few broken lines up the center of the tree with the Early Espresso marker to define the trunk a bit more.

The deer were stamped next using Soft Suede. You can either use the marker or the ink pad. I used the maker because I was too lazy to get up and get the ink pad!!! LOL

The bird was stamped using my Real Red marker.

I sponged on some Crumb Cake below the single tree and the deer.

The sky was sponged in using Bermuda Bay ink and then I added some Pacific Point ink. I cut it our using the "Stitched Nested Labels" dies and then I spritzed it and set it aside to dry.

In the meantime I die cut the snowflakes from the "Christmas Layers" dies. I cut one group of snowflakes and snipped it into to two pieces.

The top Whisper White piece was die cut using the second largest "Stitched Nested Labels" dies. Then I textured it using the "Woodland" embossing folder. I added some "Foam Adhesive Strips" all around the die cut opening.  I added more Dimensionals around the edges of the piece and I set it in place on the front of the card base.

The image was dry so I added that to the inside of the die cut piece using double-sided tape.

I added glue to the back of the snowflakes at their thickest parts and set them in place in the upper left and lower right corners.  Crystal rhinestones were added to the center of the biggest snowflakes and the card was done.

Writing it up makes it seem like it was quicker and easier than I actually was.  It was easy enough, it was just stamping and sponging, but there were lots of pieces and steps to the card so it seemed like it took a while. Now I would probably make another one and I'd use my directions to make it go more smoothly. It's sometimes difficult to make a card when you don't have any directions or measurements.

It was fun and I really do like how it turned out.  Even though I forgot to add the words!!!  Take a look at the original. I would add them on the left side and I'd use the "Modern Label" punch with words from  the "Itty Bitty Christmas" set.  Sorry about that. It's Christmas Eve and I'm a bit pressed for time. But you know how to add words and I'm sure you can see where they would go!!

Thank you SO much for taking the time to stop by today and have a look. Enjoy your holiday!            Wanda
