Today's card was found on Pinterest and I liked the looks of it because not only of the colors but because it leaned towards the masculine side of card making. You can see the original card here.
I didn't make it exactly, I just used what I had.
The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Soft Suede card stock. On top of that is the focal piece of Very Vanilla that was cut at 4" x 5-1/4". I cut a 1-1/2" x 4" strip of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Flowers for Every Season" 6" x 6" stack. And I cut a 1/4" x 4" piece of Soft Suede for the strip.
I took the Very Vanilla piece and stamped the tree from the "Life is Beautiful" set using Soft Suede ink. Again I had an ink pad that must have had just the right amount of ink on to stamp all the detail in the tree. Not quite as good as yesterdays image but it's close. Yesterday I used the Night of Navy ink pad that was foam. My Soft Suede ink pad is the older one that is cloth. It's still in good shape so I haven't replaced it yet.
The words are from the same set and were stamped using Soft Suede ink. The original card used the new Cinnamon Cider ink. I didn't purchase that color.
The tree leaves were stamped using Crushed Curry ink. I stamped one on each side of the tree and then without inking, I stamped one in the middle. Then I used the So Saffron ink and stamped it several times to fill in the open spots. I was going to add some Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie but I wanted to keep the colors light. So this is what it ended up looking like.
I taped the DSP strip to the left side and I glued the Soft Suede strip to the edge of the DSP. The focal piece was taped to the card base and a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Very Vanilla card stock was added to the inside of the card and the card was done.
This was a fun and quick card to make and can easily be converted to a masculine birthday card or even a sympathy card. This is a very versatile set.
