Gorgeous Posies, Ornate Borders, Anniversary, Wedding, Birthday Cards, 2020-2021 Stampin' Up! Catalog

Today's card was found on Pinterest. I simplified it even more.  I liked the original card but I needed a quick card because I had to have it done to sign and give today.  Nothing like waiting till the last minute.  You can see the original card here.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I took a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Basic Black card stock and I had affixed mine to a double sided sticky sheet.  I don't like gluing down those open areas.

I die cut the image from the "Ornate Borders" dies.  I also saw that you can die cut these borders and use them as stencils.  I'm going to have to give that a try sometime too.

I trimmed the top and left with my paper trimmer, up to the leaves. Then I had to fussy cut.  I cut around the leaves. I liked that look on the original card and I wanted to give it a try.  I didn't nail it but it's close!  Then I affixed the Basic Black piece to the front of the card.

I colored the leaves using both dark and light Old Olive Blends pens.  And the flowers were colored in using both light and dark Petal Pink Blends pens.

The words are from the "Gorgeous Posies" set. They were stamped using Mossy Meadow.  Why Mossy Meadow and not Old Olive you ask?  Because I need a remedial reading course.  LOL  I wasn't thinking when I grabbed the Mossy Meadow ink spot.  But it's okay, it's a dark green and looks just fine.  No regrets.

I like how the card turned out. It's simple enough yet there was enough fun things to do to make it feel like you actually worked on the card.  The only thing I would do different is to make the front piece on a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of card stock so I could tape it to the front of the card base.  The Blends ink bled through the card stock.  I'm sure the person getting this card (my sister) won't care but it really doesn't look very pretty. It's mostly the Old Olive that is coming through. But like I said, it's okay. And knowing this I will rethink cards before I start to color.

Thank you SO very much for taking the time to stop by today,
Wanda

Beautiful card! It's very elegant with the black and ivory base. The colors you used for the flowers made a really lovely card!
