Hoot Hoot Hooray, Itty Bitty Greetings, Mother's Day Card, 2020 Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog

Once again it seems that I'm making super quick cards because my time is so limited lately. I have been sewing masks for the local hospital, which I delivered last week and now I'm making them for relatives, friends, and neighbors.  They want to pay me but I just can't accept any money for them. This is a crisis we are in and I would not feel right profiting off it.  I gladly sit at my machine knowing I'm helping out someone. I should be done sewing after this week and I will be spending some time for me. I have things I want to do. I want to play with some metals and I want to paint a canvas I have drawn out. And I'd like to play with some polymer clay!  Plus make cards. Oh and I suppose do laundry, clean and cook dinner (and make lunch because hubby is working from home).  Life is different but yet I need to find some part of the day that feels like the old "normal", it helps me stay grounded.

Okay, onto my card.  The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  I have been doing a lot of my cards using Whisper White for the card base because my other colors will become limited and I don't know if I will be able to afford to put an order in.  The ads people click on here pay a little and I use it towards new stamp sets.  Now I will have to be using it to get more card stock and if I get clicks I may get a stamp set too.  It takes a while for it to add up. I don't have an extremely popular blog. And now back to the card.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of copier paper (clean scrap will do) and I used it to tape the Designer Series Paper (DSP) on.  The DSP is from the "Pleased as Punch" 12" x 12" paper pack.  I cut the pieces 2" x 5-1/4" each and I taped them to the copier paper. I often do that so I can get the DSP even and also so I have something to line up and tape it on straight. I could add the pieces right onto the card base but I often get it crooked. I taped the DSP piece to the card base.

Then I stamped the flower from the "Hoot Hoot"Hooray" set using black Memento ink.  I did mask off the "you made my day" words because I wanted to make this a Mother's Day card. I colored the flower in using my Blends Pen. I used light and dark Granny Apple Green and Calypso Coral for the leaves and petals. I used dark Daffodil Delight for the center of the flower.  And that was it for the coloring.  So quick and easy.  I die cut the flower using the stitched oval die. I left the bottom part more open so I had room for the words.

I die cut a Calypso Coral oval using the scalloped oval die. I taped the stitched oval to it. Then I taped the ovals to the front of the card.

The words are from the Itty Bitty Greetings" set. I stamped them using black Memento ink.  I punched out the words using the "Classic Label" punch.  I set the words on using Dimensionals.

And that was it.  I love this DSP, it's SO pretty.  The backside of the green is tulips and I didn't buy the punch and the backside of the flowers is some pretty stripes that I will be using in the future.  Maybe, I like the flowers much better.

This is a very quick way to make a card. I may make some cards using this layout to get rid of some retired DSP. I have LOTS of it!!
