This card has a very fun layout. It's super easy and quick, plus you can use up some of your smaller pieces of Designer Series Paper (DSP).
The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Black card stock.
On top of that I cut a 3-1/8" x 4-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock.
Then I cut a 3" x 3" piece of DSP. My DSP is from the "Magnolia Lane" 12" x 12" package. I had some smaller pieces in my package and it was SO great to be able to use them on a card. Sometimes there's a size that is kind of hard to work with. This layout helps you use some of those smaller pieces. I taped the DSP to the Whisper White piece. I lined up the top and sides, leaving the bottom open for words.
I stamped the birthday greeting from the "Here's a Card" set using black Memento ink.
I took a 5" piece of black ribbon and I taped it with scotch tape to the back of the Whisper White piece. My ribbon is retired and it's 1/8" Ribbon Taffeta. I didn't have any other thin black ribbon. Plus I'm trying to use up some of my ribbons. I have LOTS and I need to start using what I have so I can justify buying some new ones later. When the new catalog comes out I will probably buy one, but it may be a white that I can color with my Blends Pens, that will save money plus give me every color I have in Blends Pens.
After I taped the ribbon onto the back of the Whisper White piece, I slipped the ribbon (still on the spool) under the taped ribbon and I tied a knot. Then I cut the ribbon from the spool. And that is it, the card is complete. Well, I did add a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White to the inside of the card and then it was complete!
This is a fun card to make and I have LOTS of DSP that I would like to use up making simple cards like this. Simple and pretty!
Thank you SO much for taking the time to stop by today,

I'be been hoarding that paper but you've inspired me to pull it out. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI loved your card so much I just made one like it. I didn't have black ribbon so I just cut a really narrow strip of black card stock to use instead. I made a second one and colored the flowers with a Cherry Cobbler blender. TFS
