I have wanted to use the "Country Floral" embossing folder but keep forgetting about it. While surfing the net I found a pretty card and thought I would grab my Blends pens and color. My inspiration for the background was found here.
I colored the raised images using my Blends pens. I used light Highland Heather, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Calypso Coral and Old Olive. I used the dark Calypso Coral for the center of the light Calypso Coral flowers. I did not enjoy coloring these in as much as I thought I would. I found it difficult to see the raised areas while coloring because my hand would create a shadow and make it difficult to see. I'm getting old eyes too, so maybe that had something to do with it. After coloring, I cut my piece to 5" x 3-3/4".
The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. This card opens on the right and the score line is on the left.
on top of the card base is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Calypso Coral card stock. I set it in place using snail tape. Then I taped the Whisper White piece to it.
I stamped the cute chick from the "Welcome Easter" set using black Memento ink. I colored it in using both light and dark Daffodil Delight Blends pens. I colored the feet, beak and comb using the light Calypso Coral Blends pen. I was going to use the dark one but I thought it would take away from the look of the chick being soft.
I die cut a stitched circle using Whisper White card stock and I die cut a Calypso Coral scalloped circle. I taped the two circles together. I taped them in place on top of the flower background piece.
I set the chick in place using Dimensionals.
I cut a Purple Posy "So Very Vellum" piece measuring 1-7/8" x 2-1/4". I taped it in place on the front of the card.
The words are from the "Welcome Easter" set. I stamped them on Whisper White card stock using black Memento ink. I punched them out using the Classic Label punch. I set it in place on top of the vellum piece using Dimensionals. And that was it.
It's a very easy card to make, though the coloring did take some time. I doubt I would ever make another one like this. I would change the background, I was not fond of all that coloring and how it was difficult to see for me. I have seen other cards using the same background but not coloring like this. I will try one sometime in the future, I need to recover from this one! LOL
Thank you SO much for taking the time to stop by today,
Wanda
