I had wanted to make this card from the very first time I laid my eyes on it. I had saved it and then I saved about another thousand cards and I forgot about it. But today I was looking through the cards I wanted to make and this one caught my attention once again. So I opened it up on my computer and left it there all day until I could play. I had a play date with the granddaughters today and they were priority one. You can see the original card here. I should be playing with the Sale-a-Bration sets, there's only 9 days until they retire but I just HAD to make this card.
The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. On top of that is a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Balmy Blue Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the 6" x 6" Subtles paper stack. I set it in place with snail tape.
Then I die cut a scalloped stitched rectangle from the "Stitched So Sweetly" dies using Whisper White card stock.
I stamped the boots, three sets of flowers, umbrella and the umbrella handle from the "Under My Umbrella" stamp set. I stamped them using black Memento ink. I fussy cut the boots and flowers and I was able to punch the umbrella and handle with the matching punch.
I colored the boots, some flowers and umbrella using the Poppy Parade Blends pens. I colored them using the light one first and then I came back in with the dark to highlight some areas. There was a line between the two colors so I colored over it using the light one again. It made the two colors blend together. I colored the other flowers using the dark Petal Pink Blends pen. And the leaves were colored in using the light Granny Apple Green Blends pen.
I glued the flowers to the boots like the way it was done on the original card. Same with the umbrella.
I took the scalloped rectangle piece and set it on my work surface. I set the boots and umbrella on it to see where the words would be stamped. The words are from the same "Under My Umbrella" set and I stamped them using Poppy Parade ink.
Then I stamped the rain drops using Balmy Blue ink and the rain drops image.
I took some Poppy Parade ribbon and wrapped it around the card. Well, not all the way around. The ends go about 1-1/2" in on the front on both sides. I taped the ends with scotch tape.
I set the rectangle in place using Dimensionals.
Then I set umbrella handle on the back of the umbrella and stuck it in place with a Dimensional. I wanted to make sure the Dimensional caught the umbrella and the back of the umbrella. You could glue the handle if you want. I set the umbrella in place using Dimensionals.
I added Dimensionals to the boots and set them in place.
I tied a bow with the ribbon and I set it in place with glue dots.
This was a very fun and easy card to make. I just LOVE the colors.
Thank you SO very much for taking the time to stop by today,
Wanda
