I found another fun "Honey Bee" card on the internet. You can see the original here. There's also a video on how to make the card but I recommend you watch it first before you follow along.
The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Granny Apple Green. My card open son the right and the fold is on the left. The original card opens at the bottom and the fold is at the top.
You will need to cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock and a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White card stock.
On the smaller one you will die cut the beehive dome outline form. Not the hexagon one, just the outline of the beehive. After die cutting it, I lined it up on the larger piece of Whisper White and then traced the beehive on to it.
I stamped the beehive onto the 4" x 5-1/4" piece using Daffodil Delight ink. I think I should have used Crushed Curry but I liked the brighter yellow. After stamping the hive, I set it aside to dry while I worked on the other components of the card.
I used my Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight markers and colored the flowers and stems ink. Then I die cut them.
I stamped the bee and colored in the center with the Daffodil Delight Blends pen.
I die cut the honeycomb and glued the edges of it onto the die cut opening of the beehive shape.
I stamped the words from the "Honey Bee" set using black Memento ink. I trimmed up the edges giving them a ribbon cut. That piece measured 2-1/2" x 5/8". I taped the words just under the honeycomb.
I took the 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Whisper White and erased the pencil lines. I used my kneadable art gum eraser to do that. I like to use those types of erasers because they only remove the graphite and not any paper. They don't leave a mark on the paper. And being they are kneadable you can shape them to a point or any other shape you need to. I tend to draw pencil lines in my scoring board and I will shape my eraser to somewhat of a point and it will get inside those lines and erase my pencil marks. Anyway, I do recommend you get one of these, they are not expensive at all and last a very long time. Oh and they don't leave eraser stubble either! Okay back to this piece. I taped it to the card base.
Next I set the smaller piece of Whisper White on top of the piece I just taped down. I used Dimensionals to set it in place.
I taped the flowers on and then I taped the bee. I added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White to the inside of the card and that was it. The card was finished. I think it's sweet looking but I do regret not using Crushed Curry instead. I think the flowers would have shown up better. But it is what it is and it's not like I can't make another one, right?
I will put this set aside and play with some Sale-a-brations sets since time is running out on them sooner than it is for the other sets in the mini catalog!
