Today's card was made using the "Happy Birthday To You" set from the 2020 Sale-a-Bration catalog. I like this cake and it's easy enough to color. Though I did not get the matching die cuts and probably won't because in a few weeks this set, along with the dies will retire and I feel it's not a good purchase. I fussy cut the cake and it didn't take all that long. And you know how much I don't like to fussy cut!! You can see the original card here. I made a few minor changes.
The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. I stamped the words from the "Happy Birthday To You" set using black Memento ink. On top of the card base is a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Best Dressed" 6" x 6" paper stack. On the other side of the DSP is lipsticks, and make up tubes. I did not buy the set that goes with this paper. I just liked the paper and I was glad that the one side had something that I could work with and liked.
Now to work the DSP so you can get it on the card right was a little difficult for me. I was going by the look and placement of the DSP on the original card. Not a good plan since the words I used were different. I ended up cutting about one inch of the DSP on the right side. I lined up the DSP on the cutter with the point (corner) of the left side on the cutting line and then my 1" mark on the cutting line. My DSP measured 4" long on the left side and 2-3/4" long on the right.
I didn't have the scalloped edging. I don't know where that came from. So what I did was I took the largest "Stitched So Sweetly" rectangle dies and die cut the longest edge, cutting it close to the edge of the Whisper White card stock. I set it aside while I worked on the cake.
I stamped the cake on Whisper White card stock and fussy cut it out. I colored the flowers with both the light and dark Petal Pink Blends pen. Then the leaves were colored with the light Old Olive Blends pen. I colored the center of the flowers with the dark Daffodil Delight Blends pen. The sides of the cake were colored with the light Daffodil Delight Blends and the cake stand was colored using the light Smoky Slate Blends pen.

I set the DSP on top of the card front and then set the cake on top of that to see where the scallops would show. I cut the scallops into two pieces. I cut the one on the left about 2" long and just used the remainder for the other side. I turned the DSP over and taped the scallops on. There is a gap under the cake but no one is going to see it. I did have to trim the side edges of the scallops so they were straight with the sides of the card. I taped the DSP in place. You want to make sure the words aren't covered and when you place the cake you want to make sure the words show and the missing scallops don't!
I set the cake in place using Dimensionals and the card was done. Now I know the dimensions of the DSP I don't feel I would have any issues making another one. Other than a little grumbling fussy cutting the cake! LOL
