Sailing Home, Itty Bitty greetings, Masculine Birthday Card, Pendulum Stamping Technique

Today I was looking at some card ideas and saw this cute "Pendulum" technique.  The first card I saw was a cute walrus card but there were no directions on how to make the card work. SO I Googled "Pendulum Card Technique" and I found a cute puppy card and it was a video how to! So off I went to make it.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.

I took a 1/4 sheet of Seaside Spray and I textured it using the "High Seas 3D" embossing folder.  Then I took a 1/4" sheet of Pacific Point and textured it too.  I followed a line of waves with my snips and cut across the "sea".  I set these pieces aside.

Then I stamped the sailboat twice.  Once to use the entire boat and once to cut the sails off.

I colored the boat using both light and dark Crumb Cake Blends pens.  I colored the sails on both pieces  using both light and dark Real Red Blends pens.

For my pendulum I used the smallest long rectangle die from the "Rectangle Stitched Framelets" set.  You can use a strip of card stock for this too.  I was just at my Big Shot and was cutting everything I thought I needed at the moment.

I used my 1/4" paper punch to punch out a Dimensional to place on the top part of the pendulum.  I took some tearaway tape to tape a penny to the bottom of the opposite side of the pendulum.

Now came some thinking and maneuvering.  I set my cut sea piece on top of the Seaside Spray one so I could see how far into the "water" I wanted my boat to be.  I marked the back of my boat sail lightly where I thought the pendulum would need to hang.  It took a few tries but I managed to get things where I want them.  The video will help you out better with this step.  Plus you will be given a little tip to help you out so your boat won't capsize.  LOL

After getting my boat where it needed to be, I die cut a circle to accommodate the punched Dimensional.  I found one in my "Colorful Seasons bundle.  It was a perfect match.  You could use a 3/8" circle cutter or punch to do that too, I didn't have either.  The circle was cut on the Seaside Spray card stock.  Then the Dimensional from the pendulum was placed through the hole.  The large sail was attached to the matching sail. I added a piece of Dimensional to the bottom of the sail and to the top part. I tried to cut a long thin triangle of Dimensional.  I pressed it in place and pressed onto the 1/4" circle Dimensional.  That made the sail sink in a little in that spot but it's okay, I don't think anyone will notice because they will be in awe of how cut the boat rocks back and forth!  I added the smaller sail using pieces of Dimensionals and that part of the card was done.

I added the Pacific Point waves in place using Dimensional. Be sure not to add them where the boat will be rocking. I drew a line with my pencil on the backside so I would avoid that area.

Now it was time to add the piece to the card base.  Again, you need to pay attention here.  Add them around the areas where the pendulum doesn't swing.  You may need to add some closer to the pendulum to prevent it from swinging too much and capsizing your boat!

I used a small punch and made a sun using Daffodil Delight card stock. I set it in place using a Dimensionals.

The words are from the "Itty Bitty Greetings" set and I stamped them using black Memento ink. I punched them out using the "Classic Label" punch and I set them in place using small Dimensionals.

And that was it.  I had to show it to hubby, I thought it was SO cute!

Thank you SO much for stopping by today,
Wanda
