Good Morning Magnolia, Thinking of You Card, Three Strip Card

Today I needed to make a "thinking of you" card for a friend who's husband passed away.  I wanted to find a pretty card but yet didn't want it to look too festive and this is what I found.  You can see the original card here.  There's a few minor changes.  What I found difficult here was that there were no instructions. SO I had to guess at the size of the strips.  And now for future cards, all I will have to do is go to the side bar on my blog and type in "three strip card" and this card will pop up and I will have quick and easy access to the measurements.

The base of this card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  On top of that is a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Basic Black.  I taped that to the card base.

For the strips, I cut the Blushing Bride pieces 1-1/8" x -3-3/4".  I cut three of them.  And for the "Magnolia Lane" Designer Series Paper (DSP), I cut those strips 1" x 3-5/8".  I taped the DSP to the strips.

I did mark center on my black piece and on the front of the center strip I made a tiny dot. If you click on the photo you can still see the dot. I forgot to erase it before I took the photo, which may be a good thing so that you can have a visual.  I taped the three strips in place trying to get them equally spaced.  I didn't succeed. The sides have more black showing than the space between the strips, but that's okay, my friend won't care.

I stamped the flower from the "Good Morning Magnolia" set and die cut it.  Then I colored it using both light and dark Old Olive and Blushing Bride Blends pens.

I cut a "Stitched Rectangle" that measures 3-9/16 x 2-3/16".  I cut the Basic Black layer 2-3/8" x 3-3/4".  And I cut the Blushing Bride card stock at 2-1/2" x 3-7/8".  I taped the two colored layers together.

I stamped the words from the "Good Morning Magnolia" using black Memento ink. I set them up in the Stamparatus so I could get them on straight and inked up enough.  Then I taped the Whisper White piece to the Basic Black piece.

I tied some Petal Pink Organza ribbon around the Basic Black piece, tied a knot and trimmed the ends.

I set the focal panel in place using Dimensionals.  I added the flower using Dimensionals. And for a final touch, three pearls were added to the front of the card.

It's SO pretty and it makes me sad to have to send it.

Thank you SO much for stopping by today,
Wanda
