Sailing Home, Butterfly Wishes, Masculine Birthday Card

Today's card was very fun and quick to make.  And I REALLY like how it turned out.  I don't make enough masculine cards and I think this one is worth repeating.  I may make a few more of these to have for the fall craft fair.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Balmy Blue card stock that was textured using the "High Seas" 3D embossing folder.  I didn't have the new blue plate or the new machine to use this folder so what I ended up doing was, I used the platform that has the two "pages" you flip.  I flipped the first page. I set the folder in and I added a piece of cardboard that was from a cereal box (shirt board cardboard).  It embossed perfectly.  I will not be buying a new Big Shot or whatever it's going to be called.  The Big Shot was a bit costly and I can't see getting a new one at this time.  SO shims will have to do.  We eat cereal so I will have lots of free shims.  Make do with what you have.   Anyway, after embossing, I taped the piece to the card base. This paragraph was edited to read that the measurements for the Balmy Blue piece should be 4" x 5-1/4" and not 3" x 5-1/4".

I cut a 4" x 2" piece of Designer Paper from the "Come Sail Away" 12" x 12" paper pack. I taped it about 1-1/8" from the bottom of the Balmy Blue piece.  

I die cut the "Stitched Nested Labels" piece using Whisper White card stock. I used the third largest label die. 

Next I stamped the words from the "Butterfly Wishes" set using Night of Navy ink.  It's so dark it does look black and as I look at the card I'm thinking black ink would be just fine, I can't see a difference.  

Then I stamped the two smaller boats using the "Sailing Home" set , they are in the background.  I colored the boat using the light Crumb Cake Blends pen and I colored the sails using the light Balmy Blue Blends pen. 

I stamped the larger boat and die cut it.  I colored the boat using both the light and dark Crumb Cake Blends pens.  I colored the sails and water using both the light and dark Balmy Blue Blends pen. 

I set the label piece in place using Dimensionals and then I set the die cut sailboat in place using Dimenisonals.  And that was it.  

It's such a calm and peaceful looking card.  I think it would also make a great sympathy card too.
