No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't make this card look pretty. I had seen a video on using the new "Tasteful Backgrounds" dies and I liked what I saw. I still like what I saw but not on here!!! You can see the video here.
First you have to make the colored paper by using some watercolor paper and the new "Watercolor Crystals". You get six colors in the package. You get Bermuda Bay, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody. I used Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Gorgeous Grape and a very little bit of Granny Apple Green. I misted the paper between each color. I also used a pipette to suck up some of the water that pooled. I didn't want to sop it up with a paper towel because paper towels can leave their texture marks behind. So after my "coloring" was done to what I thought was pretty, I did sop the water up with paper towels. I did it quickly so it wouldn't leave any marks. Then I used my embossing tool to dry it. I set it aside and began the work on the rest of the card.
The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Melon Mambo. I did die cut the scalloped circle from the center of that piece and I also die cut the scalloped oval from the center of that scalloped circle. No one will notice anything!
I cut a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Daffodil Delight and textured it with the new "Eyelet" embossing folder. I taped this piece to the Melon Mambo piece. Then I took a 7" piece of the Polka Dot Tulle ribbon and taped the ends to the back. Then I taped the layers to the card base.
Next I die cut the largest Stitched Circle die using Whisper White card stock. I also cut the same size from my watercolor paper. I die cut the center of the Whisper White circle using the new "Tasteful Background" die. I added Dimensionals to the Whisper White piece and set it in place on the watercolor piece. I added Dimensionals to the back of the circles and set them in place on top of the card front.
I stamped the words from the "Abstract Impressions" set using black Memento ink. I actually thought I had the word dies like the ones in the original card but I have a different set, my set is the holidays one. I die cut the words using the oval dies. I taped the words to the scalloped oval piece and set that in place on the front of the card with Dimensionals.
I took a 4 inch piece of ribbon and tied a knot on the taped ribbon. And that was it. In the video it showed how to color the ribbon using inkers. I didn't want to play with another mess so I passed on that idea but I thought it was great. My fingers were a mess from the color sprinkles. Rubber gloves would have been a good thing to use!! LOL
This was a tough card, mostly because I had problems with picking the colors. I'm not fond of the Daffodil Delight color on the front. It just seems too bright. Tomorrow's card will be SO much better. I promise!
