The "Sailing Home" set was a must have for me. It was the first sailing set I have purchased. I've seen other ones but this one caught my eye. Perhaps is it came with matching dies. NO fussy cutting. The "Sailing Away" set was fun but I never purchased it. The sail boat in the old set was a lot larger than the one in this set.
The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Daffodil Delight. Punch out a 1-3/8" circle for the sun before taping the card stock on the card base. I like to try to punch around the area that the circle is going to be set. I get close but not spot on and it really doesn't matter, it won't show.
Next I took a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Whisper White and I textured it using the new "High Seas" 3D embossing folder. Then I taped the piece on top of the Daffodil Delight.
I cut a 1-1/2" x 3-7/8" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Neutrals 6" x 6" paper stacks. There's some fun designs in there and you get a lot of pieces for your money! I have yet to use up a pack of these papers. I taped the DSP to the bottom of the Whisper White piece.
I stamped the sail boat on a piece of Whisper White and then die cut it. I colored it in using Blends Pens. I colored the boat with Light Night of Navy and the end of the boat with Dark Night of Navy. I colored the left sides of the sails using light Balmy Blue. I colored the mast and the cabin of the boat with light Crumb Cake. And I added a little Balmy Blue light and dark to the water.
I die cut the ships wheel using a piece of scrap Crumb Cake card stock.
The words are from the "Itty Bitty Greeting" set. I stamped them using Night of Navy ink on Whisper White card stock. I die cut them with the fun stitched ribbon die that is in the "Smooth Sailing" matching dies.
I glued the sun in place. I thought that snail tape wasn't strong enough to hold it due to the texture of the embossed piece. I would think that Tear & Tape should hold it.
I set the sail boat in place using Dimensionals.
I cut four little pieces of Dimensionals and set them on the thick round part of the ships wheel die. I set that in place on the left of the card. I added a gold pearl to the center of the wheel.
I also set the words in place using Dimensionals. And that was it. I'm thinking I should have stamped the birds in the upper right area but I had already textured the piece. Maybe if I ever make this card again I will add the birds.
This was a fun and easy card to make.
Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
