While looking for samples using the "Just Because" set I ran across this gem. I loved the Balmy Blue background but I was thinking about not making it because there was fussy cutting involved. I convinced myself to suck it up and cut out the piece. It's not like it had a bunch of flowers all over the place, it was pretty simple cutting. You can see the original card here.
The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. The fold is on the left. This card opens on the right.
I cut the Night of Navy piece at 4-1/4" x 2-7/8". The Balmy Blue layer was cut using the "Stitched Rectangles" die. For those of you who don't have the dies, the piece measures 2-5/8" x just a hair shy of 4". Line your card stock just on the edge of the 4" mark and you will be close enough.
I stamped the image from the "Just Because" set. I did mask off the words but I don't know why I bothered, I was fussy cutting the image. Just not thinking I guess! LOL After the fussy cutting I colored the image using Blends Pens. I used Night of Navy light. Granny Apple Green, light and dark. I also used Daffodil Delight, light and dark and just the light Pumpkin Pie. I didn't get the same effect on the vase as the original image. I read later that Balmy Blue Blends was used. I didn't have that color. So I took out my Night of Navy marker and my blender pen and worked in the color on the lighter side.
The words are from the same set. I set them up in the Stamparatus so I could be sure to get them straight and I stamped them using Night of Navy ink.
I taped the layers together. I added the image using Dimensionals and for the final touch I used some glitter enamel dots that I colored with the Night of Navy Blends pen. Let them dry a few minutes before using them.
And that was it. This was a pretty simple card to make and I do like how it turned out.
Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
