Happy Birthday Gorgeous, February 2019 Paper Pumpkin Birthday Card

I thought I would play with the Paper Pumpkin kit one more time before I moved on to something else.  I was going to make one card but when you cut the succulent image in half you end up with two pieces and that means two cards. I could have saved it for a later date but I had everything out so I went ahead and made two.  I was torn between using a black background or the gray.  Once I finished the cards and had them side by side, I leaned more towards the gray.

The base of both card is a half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  For the top card I used a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic Gray card stock. I stamped the flower image from the Paper Pumpkin kit using Basic Gray ink. The second card was just a solid piece of Basic Black card stock.

I cut the succulent image 1-7/8" x 4-3/4".  I cut the layer behind it to 2-1/8" x 5".

The words are from the "Happy Birthday Gorgeous" set. I stamped the top one using black Memento ink and the bottom one using Basic Gray ink.  I stamped them on a Whisper White piece of card stock that I had die cut using the "Stitched Rectangle" dies.  It measures almost 3-1/2" by almost 2-1/4".  These dies are not right on the quarter or 1/8" marks.  I cut my layers 2-1/2" x 3-7/8".  After cutting them I stamped the words. You can do them first and line up the died or you can die cut them and stamp later. I taped all of the layers together.

I took some black Baker's Twine from the Paper Pumpkin kit and wrapped it around the panel three times. I tied a knot and then a bow.

The kit also came with some silver round dots that I colored black using a Sharpie.  Let it dry for a little bit before using them.  I measured the bottom ones and guessed with the top.  Can you tell?  LOL  I had taped the pieces to the card base and the focal panel was added using Dimensionals.  And that was it.  You don't need to have the Paper Pumpkin Kit to make a card like this.  You can just use whatever fun paper you have and use this layout.  I have used this layout a lot.  You may not have noticed because of the different colors of paper or different words and size of the focal panel.  Use circles for a different look.  Mix it up some!

These were fun to make and I can see myself making more!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda

  1. Wow, great masculine cards. Who would have thought the gray and black would be so striking? Love them.
