Butterfly Gala, Beautiful Bouquet, Birthday Card, Faux Tarnish Technique

Tonight I will be attending a swap and here is the card I made for it.  This card is for a technique swap.  The technique is called "Faux Tarnish".  It's a simple technique.  You texture some foil card stock and then run your black Staz On ink pad over it.  Give it a few seconds to dry and then wipe it with a tissue and it's ready to do what you need to do with it!

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  On top of that I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White that I first embossed with gold butterflies from the "Butterfly Gala" stamp set.  I also used gold embossing powder for the words from the "Beautiful Boutique" set.

Next I cut a 1/2" x 5-1/4" strip of scrap card stock and a 2-1/8" x 5-1/4" of scrap card stock. I used some repositional tape on the inside edges.  I set the pieces in place and sponged over the butterflies using Daffodil Delight ink. I sponged from the bottom to about 3/4" up.  Then from the top to about 2/3's down I sponged on Flirty Flamingo ink.

I had textured my gold foil card stock using the "Lace" Dynamic Textured Impressions embossing folder.  I ran my black Staz On pad over the textured piece and set it aside to dry a bit.  Then I wiped it off with a tissue.  Not much came off onto the tissue.  By the time I was done putting away my ink pads (yes, I was actually putting stuff away!!!) the ink was dry. I punched out the tiny butterfly from the "Butterfly Duet" punch.

I set the 4" x 5-1/4" piece in place using Dimenisonals and I added the small foil butterfly using a single small Dimensional.  And that was it.

I do like how this looks and I think I would like to try this again but using black ink on the butterflies instead of the gold embossing powder.  I used the gold embossing powder because I had gold foil paper and I needed the technique to flow with the card.

Thank you SO much for stopping by today,
Wanda
