Today I'm playing with the new "Buffalo Check" background image. I did not know that this checkered image was called "Buffalo Check". I had often referred to it as table cloth check or just checkerboard check. It's a very fun background to play with. I set it up on my Stamparatus because I knew I wouldn't get a nice dark cover with one inking. And I was right! Setting it up on there I was able to ink it up twice. It's pretty solid.
I found a fun card on the net using this cute background but I didn't want to use the stamp set that was on the original card.
The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Poppy Parade. I chose Poppy Parade over Real Red because I actually had some current ribbon that was in the Poppy Parade color!
I cut a piece of Whisper White 3-7/8" x 5-1/8". I textured it with the new "Subtle" embossing folder. It makes the card stock look like it's linen. Click on the photo for a closer look.
The "Buffalo Check" piece was cut 3" x 4-1/4" using Whisper White card stock. I inked up the image with Poppy Parade ink. I cut a 3-1/8" x 4-3/8" piece of Poppy Parade card stock for the layer behind the checked image. I taped those two layers together and tied a piece of the Poppy Parade Textured Weave Ribbon around them and tied a bow. I set that piece in place using Dimensionals.
I die cut a Poppy Parade scalloped circle. On top of that is a Crumb Cake 2" circle and on top of that is a Whisper White stitched circle. I used a 2" circle punch for the Crumb Cake piece because the one that was a little larger than the stitched circle was too big and didn't show much of the scalloped circle. Using the 2" circle allowed more of the Poppy Parade circle to show.
I stamped the reindeer from the "Seasonal Chums" set. I used black Memento ink and then I die cut it. I colored the nose and bow using Poppy Parade ink. I used the Petal Pink marker to color the inside of the ears and to blush up the cheeks. I used Crushed Curry for the jingle bell on the bow. I colored the antlers and hooves in using the Crumb Cake marker. I colored the dots on the deer's back using the white "Chalk Marker".
I taped the circles together and set them in place using Dimensionals. I taped the deer in place on the stitched circle and the card was done. I was not sure if I needed to add any words to the front. I think it looks great just as it is.
Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
