Dandelion Wishes, Flourishing Phrases, Thank You Card, Blends Faux Sponging Technique

While surfing the net I had found a card that used this fun technique.  I don't know the name of the technique.  You can see the original card here.  There's  very little information on how this card was made.

I rarely use Basic Gray card stock, so this was a little different for me!

The base of this card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Gray card stock with a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White on the inside.

I cut a piece of Basic Gray card stock 4-3/8" x 3-1/4".  I used my embossing buddy over the card stock before I stamped the dandelions with Versa Mark.  The dandelions are from the "Dandelion Wishes" set.  I embossed them with white embossing powder.  The words are from the "Flourishing Phrases" set and I also embossed them with white embossing powder.

I die cut the words using the stitched oval die and the layer behind was die cut using Highland Heather card stock.  Die cut the scalloped oval from the 4-1/2" x 3-3/8" piece that will be used as the layer behind the focal piece.

After I embossed the dandelions, I took my light and dark Highland Heather Blends pens and colored in the centers of the dandelions.  I just colored in a circle with the light pen first and then I colored over the center of the flower and a little bit beyond with the darker pen.  And that was it for the coloring.  It kind of gives it that sponged on color look without all the work.  Maybe the technique should be called "Blends Faux Sponging"?  Now I have to add it to the title of this post!!!

I taped the focal image and the Highland Heather layers together and set them in place on the card using Dimensionals.  I taped the ovals together and set them in place using Dimensionals as well.  And the card was done.

It's a quick and easy technique!!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
