Abstract Impressions, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up! 2018-2019 Catalog

I'm still working on some fun flower cards before the flowers become leaves and then snowflakes!!! Not that fall and winter will stop me from making flower cards. The problem will be that I will pick too many fall and winter stamp sets and have to play with them till they retire!!

This was a very fun and easy card to make.  I love playing with the "Abstract Impressions" set.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. I cut the card stock on the short side at 4-1/4".  This card opens at the bottom.

Next I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Flirty Flamingo. I chose Flirty Flamingo because I had run across some retired ribbon and thought I should use it.  I have SO much retired ribbon. Now to make your card with all current items, find a ribbon you have that is not retired and work from there.

I took a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White card stock and embossed it using the "Layered Leaves" embossing folder.  I cut a 2-3/8" x 3-5/8" piece of Whisper White. I stamped the flowers using Flirty Flamingo ink. Then I stamped the flower highlights using Calypso Coral ink.  I stamped the stems using Granny Apple Green and Old Olive for the second set of stems.  I cut a 2-1/2" x 3-3/4" piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock and taped it to the stamped image piece. I tied the ribbon around the layers and then I set it aside.

I die cut the flower border that is part of the "Abstract Impressions" bundle, called "Springtime Impressions" thinlits.  I used the double sided sticky sheets to add the card stock and then die cut them. It makes it a lot easier to stick them to the background.  After affixing the Flirty Flamingo flower image to the embossed leaves, I taped the base layers together.

The words are from the "Beautiful Bouquet" set. I stamped them on Whisper White using Old Olive ink. I die cut them with the oval die. I also die cut a scalloped oval for the layer under the words. I taped the two layers together and set the words in place below the image using Dimensionals and glue dots. Snail will work too but I had some glue dots left over from the Paper Pumpkin set so I thought I should use them instead of hoard them. If you hoard things like that too long they will lose their stickiness and then you have nothing. Use it or lose it comes to mind here. I'm trying not to hoard so many things. That's the best way to end up with a lot of retired things!! Lesson learned.

I added some Wink of Stella to the flowers. Click on the photo for a closer view. I believe it does show up on some of the flowers.  And for the final touch I added some pearls and the card was done!

This would also make a great get well card.

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
