Swirly Bird, Daisy Delight, Birthday Bouquet, Birthday Card

I found a fun pretty card on Pinterest.  I liked how simple looking it was and yet it had an elegant look too.  It was also easy to make.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Night of Navy card stock.  On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock.

I cut some strips of Decorative Series Paper (DSP) from the "Delightful Daisy" 12" x 12" pack.  I cut the green striped piece 3/4" wide and the piece I cut it from was 6" long.  You want it long because you are going to tear on both ends.  The daisy DSP was also from the same package. I cut that one 1/2" wide and it too was from a 6" piece.  I also cut a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock at 1/4" wide.  It came from a 5-1/2" piece.  First I tore the ends of the green strip.  Then I tore the ends of the blue strip.  I snipped the ends of the yellow strip. The original card used ribbon, I didn't have any.  Before I taped these strips in place I made the dots using the "Swirly Bird" set and Old Olive ink.  I then taped the strips in place.  

I stamped two daisies from the "Daisy Delight" set using Night of Navy ink.  I punched them out.  I taped them together and then curled the petals with a bone folder.  Hold the petals close to the thinnest part and don't pull hard when you are curling them.  I set the flower in place with a pop up glue dot. A Dimensional will work too.  I just found that I had an abundant supply of pop up glue dots (for some odd reason!!!).  

The words are from the "Birthday Bouquet" set. I stamped them using Night of Navy ink.  And that was it.  Some Washi tape would have worked too but I didn't have any current that went with the daisy.  I liked working with the paper better, I didn't have to struggle with it curling up on me before I got it down on the paper, and trying to get it down straight!!  I thought this was a fun and simple card to make. I can see myself making more of these.
