Guy Greetings, Truly Tailored, True Gentleman, Father's Day Card, 2018 Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog

I think I'm in the Mother's Day/Father's Day card mode.  I hope to get out of it soon, there's other cards I want to make!!!  I need to make some retirement cards, thank you cards and graduation cards too!  Plus anything else that crosses this busy brain!

I found a fun card on Pinterest and I was going to copy it but I ended up changing it.  What I liked most about the card was the use of the "Tailored Tag" punch and the "True Gentleman" Decorative Series Paper (DSP) and the corduroy ribbon.  I punched out my pieces using the "True Gentleman" DSP like I had seen on the original card. I was starting to set the pieces on the folded half-sheet of Night of Navy when I decided I didn't like the inside of my card to be dark. Not that I couldn't add a piece of Very Vanilla inside to write on, I just didn't want all that dark. So I cut my card stock to 4" x 5-1/4".  I taped down my punched pieces.  I wrapped a piece of the corduroy ribbon around the card front and taped the ends on the back.  I taped it in place on top of a folded half-sheet of Very Vanilla that was scored at 5-1/2".  This card was to open at the top.

I stamped the words from the "Guy Greetings" set using Night of Navy card stock.  I added the bow tie from the "Truly Tailored" set using Night of Navy ink.  I die cut it using the stitched oval.  I was going to go with round but I needed a round circle that was WAY too big for the card.  I die cut a scalloped oval using Tranquil Tide card stock.  I taped those two pieces together and I added Dimensionals to the back.  I didn't expose the sticky side yet, I needed to see where I liked this oval best. I centered it, but I didn't like how it looked, so I turned the card so not it opens on the left side and I moved the words over a little so they weren't perfectly centered.  Though perfectly centered would look better now that I see it on the screen. Anyway, I do like how it turned out and it was a super quick card to make once I knew what direction I was going with it.

This would make a great dad birthday card or retirement card.

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda

  1. Great card. I never would have thought to have a card open from the top or left side. Great idea.
