Today I attended Terri's Stamping Extravaganza. Lots of demonstrators demoing the new items in the latest Holiday Catalog. I was fun to be on the outside watching all the demos instead of demonstrating. Though I do like the demonstrating part. But it was nice to change it up. The room was full and no room for another demonstration table at all. It was a fun time too! I did order a snowflake embossing folder and a snowflake thinlit set. Me and snowflakes!!! LOL
Anyway, this was the card I brought for the display board. Actually it was a contest where you were asked to bring a card that used all Stampin' Up! products and you were entered in some contest. I did not put my name on the card, I didn't want to win, I just wanted a card for the display board! This was a very fun card to make and pretty easy too.
I've heard this technique called the "Telescope" technique but when I look it up on the net, it's not like this. I've also heard it called a "Camera Lens" technique. I would believe that one more, because a telescope goes outward and a camera lens goes inward. But I didn't find much under those words either. So, I'm just calling it the "Camera Lens" technique and maybe it will catch on and everyone will be using it and calling it that! LOL
It's not all that difficult to do, even the lining up of the circles is not bad. If you get it lined up and the edges are not straight, just trim them. No one is going to see it. It's pretty difficult to mess this up. You can find the directions for this technique here.
I will share a big tip with you though. When adding the Dimensionals between the layers, set the layer in place first and gently bend back the top layer to add a Dimensional or two and then let go. Now your piece is in place and you can continue to add more Dimensionals without worrying about it moving. That was the only issue I had encountered when I made my first one. And it really wasn't a big deal, all I did was trim any card stock sticking out. The only way you could tell that I did that was to take the card apart! Now tell me, who does that? I certainly don't.
The houses are from the "Hearts Come Home" set. I die cut them using the Dazzling Diamonds sparkly paper. That is such pretty paper. Then I had some snowflakes and a "Noel" from the "Hang Your Stockings" set and I spritzed them with a mixture of rubbing alcohol and Tempting Turquoise ink. I immediately blotted the pieces off, I didn't want them real dark. I had tried a Soft Sky snowflake but it was too light, it looked more dirty than blue. I like how the color turned out so I ran with it. I taped the house piece in place on top of the textured layer and I added snowflakes where I thought they would look the best and the final thing I added was the "Noel" and the card was done. I had fun making it was was excited to bring it for the display board.
Thank you SO much for stopping by today,
Wanda
