Here's a very simple and yet elegant birthday card to make. Though you could make into a card for other occasions.
For my card I used a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. I added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of embossed Whisper White. I had used the "Garden Trellis" embossing folder to create that pretty background. I taped it in place on top of the card base.
I used a scrap piece of the "Whole Lot of Lovely" Decorative Series Paper (DSP). The piece here measures 4-1/2" x 1-3/4". I cut a piece of Pool Party card stock to 4-5/8" x 1-7/8". I taped the two layers together and taped them to the embossed layer.
I added the paper doily. I only taped it in the center and on the more solid edge scallops.
I tied the Pool Party "Shimmer Ribbon" around the panel and tied a bow. I added a glue dot under the bow to help hold it in place. I had trouble getting my ribbon tight enough and then I had trouble with it being too tight. So I left it loose and cut it in the back. I then taped the ends down. No one is going to ever see that.
The words are from the "Better Together" set. I stamped them using Pool Party ink. I cut the piece of Whisper White card stock 2" x 2-1/2". I cut the layer 2-1/8" x 2-5/8". I added 3 of the "Glitter Enamel Dots". I picked the lightest blue ones so it would blend in with the Pool Party color. I set the word panel in place using Dimensionals. And that was it. It was a great way to use up those scrap pieces of DSP and I found it nice not to try to cut a doily in half. I usually do it by hand and never get it straight, though I don't need to get it straight if it that edge is going to be under a piece of DSP or card stock.
This was a fun card to make. I LOVE this layout and I can see myself making more in the future.
