Last month at Terri's Tuesday Technique night we learned now to do the "Oval Ring Pop-up" technique. It's a pretty simple technique and I will be sharing the directions with you tomorrow. I have a card that we made that night using the technique. I should have posted that card first and then this one but this one is my card for tonight's swap.
I used Blushing Bride for the base of my card. I cut it on the 8-1/2" side, so the card opens from the bottom. For this technique it doesn't matter where your card opens. Though I don't think a gate fold would work!!
I used a 2" x 5-1/4" piece of the "Blossoms & Bliss" Decorative Series Paper (DSP). I taped all around the edges and just before I set it in place I added a half a doily from the "Lace Doily" pack from the 2017 Occasions catalog. Those doilies are going to be expiring at the end of May. I thought I would play with them more and try to use them up! That would be a first for me! I'm such a hoarder!
The words are from the "Wetlands" set. That set is retiring at the end of May. I'm going to miss that set. I LOVED using the words from that set on many of the cards I've made. But I'm sure that Stampin' Up! will come up with some other fun masculine sets with great words in them.
In the upper right corner of the card I added a "Petite Petals" flower. That set along with the punch will be retiring at the end of May too. Such a sweet little set!
And the inside of the card is kind of hard to explain, but it's the "Oval Ring Pop-up" and tomorrow I will tell you how it's done. So for now you can ooooh and aaaaah at it!!! Or gaze at it with a puzzled look on your face!!! LOL
I am sort of in a rush to get this posted. I need to get a nap in before I have to leave for Technique night. Not many of you know but on March 30th I had a total hip replacement and I have been recovering from it. I used a walker for almost a week and now I'm just using the cane. I don't use it for support as much but I still need it for stride. If I don't use it I wobble a bit and if I don't continue to use it for the wobble, then I will wobble the rest of my life. So I'll use the cane! It's not like it's going to be forever, so why not? Anyway, I had pre-posted to my blog for a couple of weeks so I wouldn't have to think about it. Plus being on some heavy duty pain killers (heavy duty to me anyway), I was too tired to even think of going in my workroom. And last week, the 2nd week out of surgery I was back at my worktable stamping. Today I'm at my worktable yawning!! Some days are more productive than others. I'm doing fine. I can walk up and down stairs like I use to do, no more baby stepping. I can bend over and pick things up off the floor. I can cross my legs (if I want, I usually don't because it's not good for your circulation). I can do anything I want to do. I had a wonderful surgeon and great care in the hospital. I was walking 4 hours after surgery. I whipped through the exercises in PT class. I was doing some before surgery and I think that helped with my quick recovery too. I still get tired because I try to do too much in a day. I think I'm making up for lost time! But all in all I can not complain. It went well, mission accomplished and my hip is no longer in pain! YAY!
Stop back tomorrow for the instructions and an even prettier card!
Thank you SO much for visiting today,

Love this card design since it looks to be a quick card to make. That helps me since I often procrastinate! So glad to hear you're recovering so well.
