Tasty Treats Specialty Paper, Avant-Garden, 2017 Sale a Bration, Birthday Card

I had seen a card made using this layout so I thought I would give it a try.  I don't remember where I saw it and I had only seen it once and I drew it up so I would remember how to make one myself.  It was a very interesting card to make. Precision is not my thing but once I got it put together, I realized that precision was not that important.  Ballpark works here, but you do have to keep it in the park!! LOL

If you are going to make this card, the first thing you need to do is take some Baker's Twine and wet it.  Then wrap it around a toothpick or something about that thick.  Take apart an ink pen and use the part where the ink is.  Set it aside to dry.

The base of my card is a folded piece of Whisper White card stock that was cut 4-1/4" x 11".  (Cut your card stock on the short side).  Then I cut the popsicle paper 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" and I taped it in place on top of the Whisper White base.  You can trim it some if you want to save on the decorative paper.  I just used the whole piece.  Then I cut the dotted green piece.  It's the backside of the popsicle paper. I marked my dotted paper on the left side first at 1-1/4".  I used a pencil to make a light mark.  Then I marked the bottom edge at 1-1/2" and then the left side was marked at 2".  I don't know if these are the measurements that were used on the original layout but it's what I ran with!!  Once I got my piece marked, I took out my cutter and lined up the bottom mark to the right edge mark and cut the angle.  I did the same for the left side. Then I took a piece of scrap card stock and cut it to 1/4".  Then I used that strip to mark my dotted paper on the edges so I could cut a 1/4" strip off.  I marked the left edge and then I marked 1/4" to the left of the point on the paper.  I marked the right edge at 1/4" and I marked the right side of the point of the paper at 1/4" and then I cut the "V".  I started on one side and cut towards the center point.  I didn't go all the way because I need to come in from the other side.  I did end up not quite meeting exactly in the center, so I used my scissors and snipped the rest of the way.  That was the only tricky and kind of nerve wracking part of the card. It's better to have to use the scissors than to cut too far and ruin the card.  Though I think if I would have cut too far, I would have cut off the other end and marked the edges all over again.  My piece as long enough on the top so I would have had room for error.  Once I got that part cut, I set it in place on the card to get a visual.  I marked and trimmed the top part and then I used Dimensionals to set those pieces in place. Don't be stingy with the Dimensionals.  You want that paper to stand up and not sag on the edges or center.

Next I punched out the 3 balloons.  I used Watermelon Wonder, Peekaboo Peach and Pool Party.

The words are from the "Avant-Garden" set.  I used the oval Framelits to cut them out.  I used the scalloped oval framelit to cut out the layer behind them.  I set those in place with Dimensionals as well.

I unwound the Baker's Twine and cut pieces off for the balloons.  I set the twine on the back of the balloon and covered it with 2 Dimensionals.  I repeated this for the other two balloons.  My thread wasn't quite dry so it didn't curl as much as I wanted it to. I die cut bows from the "Balloon Pop-up Thinlits Die" using Whisper White card stock.  I set them on the balloons using tiny glue dots.  And that was it!!

I don't know if I would ever make another card like this but I'm glad I gave the layout a try. I do like how it looks.

Thank you ever so much for stopping by today,

Teeny Tiny Wishes, Bloomin' Hearts Thinlit Die, Anniversary Card

I found this stunning card on Pinterest and had to make it. The original card can be found here.  I did change it a bit.  I didn't add the ribbon because I didn't have any, plus it's more expensive to send the card through the mail with a bow tied on it.  This card does have pearls on it but if you put a piece of chipboard (cereal box cardboard) on top, it goes through the mail.  Be sure it's not more than 1/4" thick or you'll have to pay more.  And it needs to be one ounce or less.

This is a very simple card to make.  The base of the card is a folded half sheet of Whisper White.

The silver paper is cut 4-1/8" x 5-3/8".  The Whisper White layer on top is cut 4" x 5-1/4".

I die cut 3 large flowers and 4 small flowers.

The words are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set and I stamped them using Basic Gray ink.

I taped the Whisper White piece on top of the silver.  To make sure the center heart stuck I used glue. I take my glue and spread it on a piece of waxed paper. Fold the waxed paper in half and use your bone folder to get a nice thin layer of glue. Make sure it's large enough for the piece that needs glue. Open up the waxed paper.  Set your piece on it. Put another piece of waxed paper on top and press the piece into the glue.  Remove the top piece.  Bend the bottom piece until your piece lifts up and then pull it gently off the waxed paper.  Be careful with this piece since it's so lacy.  I removed mine slowly and it didn't rip at all.

I added a double flower to the left of the words and called it "done"!  See, I told you it was simple!!

Sending Thoughts, Suite Sentiments, Get Well Card, Stamp A Stack

Today I'm going to show you one of the cards I made at Terri's wonderful Stamp a Stack.  These are such pretty cards and no, I didn't order this paper.  I wasn't thrilled with the set that goes with it so I passed on the paper.  Now that I see it used in a card like this, I do have some regrets.  Oh well, I do have MORE than enough stuff to keep me busy.

This was a simple card to make.  The base of the card is a folded half sheet of Whisper White card stock.  Then we added the Mint Macaron layer that was cut 2-1/4" x 5-1/4". The decorative paper is from the "Succulent Garden" Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack that was cut 2" x 5".  The words were stamped and then die cut out and set in place using Dimensionals.

The bow was tied on before the layers were set in place.  The bow was just suppose to be a knot but somehow I managed to make a bow out of the pre-cut piece of ribbon!!!

This was a very quick, simple, easy and super fun card to make. I REALLY do like this layout.  I am looking at the stacks of DSP in other styles that I have (most of them are retired) and I'm thinking of all of the fun and easy cards I could be making to use up some of this vast inventory that I have!!  A new goal for next month.  No, not to use it all, that would be impossible, but to at least put a dent in it!! Okay, at least a nick in it would be more like it!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,

Designer Tin of Cards, Valentine's Day Gift, Weekend Project

I have not done a "Weekend Project" in a while and with Valentine's Day a couple of weeks away, I thought I would create something fun. So I came up with the idea to make some tea holders.  These are fun and very easy to do.  I included the diagram for the layout.

You need a 8-5/8" x 3-1/2" piece of card stock for the base of the holder.  You will need to score it at 2-7/8" and 5-7/8". You will also need to cut off part of the right corner.  I measured about 1" from the bottom, you don't have to be exact, and I made a mark.  I lined that mark up in my cutter and cut from that mark to the score line on the left of that section.

Next you will need to glue the edge of that 1" part plus the bottom edge.  This creates a pocket to hold the tea.  Once it is dry you can add your tea.  Before I added my tea, I stamped the words on the inside.  They are from the "Designer Tin of Cards" set.  I took a Real Red marker and colored in the heart.

In the meantime you can work on the front.  I used a 2-1/2" x 3-1/8" piece of Blushing Bride cardstock. I cut my decorative paper 2-7/8" x 2-1/4".  The decorative  series paper (DSP) I used here is from the "Falling in Love" pack.

I cut a 6-1/4" x 3/8" strip of Blushing Bride cardstock for the belly band.

After I glued my belly band in place I added the heart I punched out using the Blushing Bride glitter paper.  I set it in place on the band using Dimensionals.  Be careful to only set the Dimensionals on the band and not the DSP.  I added the Dimensionals directly to the band and set the heart on top.  I wanted to avoid accidentally sticking the heart to the DSP.  And that was it.  Super easy, very fun and adorable too!!!  Such a fun gift to pass out for those who can't have candy!!

So Very Much, Balloon Pop-up Thinlits, Thank You Card, 2017 Sale-a-Bration

Today I needed to make a thank you card for a birthday gift I had received.  I'm a little late in getting it out but it's now done and ready to go in the mail tomorrow.

For the base I used a folded half sheet of Whisper White cardstock.  The next layer is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Watermelon Wonder.  And on top is a 3-3/8" x 5" piece of Whisper white.

First I stamped the "thank you" but I should have removed it over to the right and down a little bit more.  Then I die cut the balloons and bows.  I used Watermelon Wonder and Bermuda Bay for them.  The "Thank You" is from the "So Very Much" Sale-a-Bration set.

I wrapped a piece of wet Baker's Twine around a toothpick and let it dry.  I cut it in half and taped it behind the balloon.  Oh, I did forget to mention, I took the Balloon Punch and punched out the large Balloon to go behind the die cut balloons. Having them open didn't look quite right.

I set the balloons in place using Dimensionals.

It's a pretty easy card to make and the "T" on the Thank you would have shown up more had I moved the image over about 3/8" of an inch.  But you can still see that it reads "Thank You", so mission accomplished!!!

Hey Chick, 2017 Sale a Bration, Thank You Card

I'm having trouble putting this card into a category.  "You're a good egg!" could mean thank you.  It probably does mean thank you and for my post, it means thank you!!! LOL

I found this card while surfing the net.  I thought it was cute and I had just gotten the set.  So, when I ran across this one, I just had to make it.  It did  involve using watercolor paper (which I LOVE to use but rarely do) and the aqua painter (give me a regular paint brush any day, I like to control the amount of water on my brush), but I managed to color it in.

I did use the watercolor pencils for this card, plus a couple of markers.  I used the markers on the chicks feet and the rooster's head area.  The rest was blending some brown with yellow for the shadow and using some gray and black with a touch of brown for the chicken.  The egg was mostly gray with a touch of black blended in.  I forgot to add the light blue around both before I put the card together.  I think I may add it later or I may just leave it as it is.  You can see the original card here.

I didn't have the ribbons that were used, so I went in my drawer that is full of ribbons, plus a wall that has a ton of them on it too, and I found one I liked.  I don't have any current ribbons, so I have to use what I have.  Most of you will use what you have on hand, unless you're entering it in something that requires you to use current supplies.  Here I'm not entering it in anything, so I'm going to use what I have on hand.

It was very fun to make.  I think the chickens in this set are adorable.

Sealed With Love, Valentine's Day Card, Stamp A Stack

I had a pretty busy day today and no time to make a card.  I feel lost when I am not creating something.  I don't like that kind of busy that takes me away from crafting!!!  But it is what it is.  So today I'm going to share with you a set of cards I made at Terri's last Stamp a Stack.

We used a 1/4 sheet of Real Red cardstock for the base of the card .  Then we added a layer of Whisper White that was cut 3-1/4" x 8-1/2".

The decorative paper is from the "Sending Love" Designer Pack.  We were told to tape the decorative paper in place and then stamp the words.  These words were from the "Sealed with Love" set.  The heart was punched out using the red glitter paper.  It was set in place using a Dimensional.

This is a fun card, you don't open it in the traditional way.  It opens with the white panel.  SO cute.  I should have taken a photo of one open.  But you get the idea.  I did stamp "Happy Valentine's Day" on the inside.  It's a quick way to whip up a bunch of Valentine's Day cards!!

I had a great time at the Stamp a Stack.  It's always a great time.  I get to stamp and see friends I haven't seen in a while.  It makes for a wonderful evening all around!

I only need two of these cards, so what I'm going to do is hold a random number drawing using the names of those who leave a comment.  I'm not fishing for comments, I don't know any other way to hold a drawing. You don't have to comment.  You can just say "pick me!"  Or you can beg and grovel!!! LOL I will use a random number generator on the net.  I found one just by Googling "Random Number Generator".  I just enter in the number of people and click "generate" and it will pick the winner.  I will draw a name on Saturday 1-28-17.  Good luck to you!

P.S.  Like I said, I only need 2 and it doesn't matter to me which 2.  So you can pick which pattern you like the best, the paisley hearts, the tiny dotted hearts or the circular hearts (the card on top).  If you don't pick and you win, I will pick for you.

Upcycled Paper Pumpkin Calendar Pages, Masculine Get Well Card

I had gotten a stamp set (several) for Christmas and today I thought I would play with one.  It is not a Stampin' Up! set but it was still fun to play with.

Earlier this month I had cannibalized the calendar I had made from a 2015 Paper Pumpkin Kit.  I LOVED the background cardstock that was used on them, so I picked out the ones that were my favorite and removed the calendars and other items and much to my surprise, I didn't rip any of the image while removing the Dimensionals.  SO I have some fun backgrounds to play with.  You can see the calendar pages by clicking here.  This image was perfect to make a card with.  This image is from the Art Impressions (AI) set SCO681. It also has Hampton Art on the front too, with an "H" sticker on the bottom right corner.  That is all the info I have on the set.  There is no name on it, just that number.

I tried to match some cardstock to the calendar piece.  It's a pretty bluegray but I couldn't find a color to match, so I went with Basic Gray.  I like it but it did make the background look more gray than bluish.  But it's okay, I like it anyway.

I colored in the hospital gown and the socks with the Basic Gray marker.  I took the Marina Mist marker and made little dots on the gown.  I thought it could use something more than just being plain gray.  It was fun coloring the image with markers. Once I was done, I layered it with a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.

The words were also in the set.  I added a scalloped oval to the words and set it in place using Dimensionals.  The inside of the card reads: "Hope you'll soon be fully re-covered?"  LOL  Just TOO darn cute!  I stamped two of this guy but I can't find the other one. When I do I may try a different background and see what else I can create with it.

Now I have a masculine get well card for my stash.  Doesn't matter though, if I need one I usually make a fresh one.  It's not like the ones in my stash go bad (like eggs in the fridge) but I just feel I need to make a fresh one when I need one.  Though I have on rare occasions grabbed a card from the stash because I needed one immediately, just minutes before I had to head out the door.  But most of the time I make fresh ones.  Silly me!!

Designer Tin of Cards,Timeless Textures, Valentine's Day Card

Yesterday I had made a card using the "Timeless Textures" on the background and when I was creating it, I was making two.  Not intentionally, I was using one as a test page to see if I liked where I was going with the images.  I did like each step I did and I ended up with two, though the one from yesterday had more red splatters on it.  Those were added after I was done setting the layers on to take a look.  You can get a quick view of yesterday's card here.

So with the background all done, I was wondering what I should do with it.  SO I got out my heart dies and thought I would add one.  But when I set the die on the background I realized I needed a smaller heart.  Smaller hearts.  I thought about using Basic Black for the layers behind the heart but after thinking it through I felt it would be too dark so I went with the silver glitter paper.  Now that added some bling to the card and brightened it up too.

The words are from the "Designer Tin of Cards" set.  I colored in the heart between the words using a Real Red maker.

This was easy enough to do and super quick because the background was already done.  I may have to whip up and extra background now and then to have them on hand to put together a quick card!!

I layered it on a folded half sheet of Real Red cardstock and that's about it!

Thank you SO much for stopping by to see today's post,

Love You Lots, Timeless Textures, Valentine's Day Card

There was a card much like this that I found on the net.  I liked the layout.  I found it here on Pinterest.  My card is close in resemblance but yet different.  I played a lot with the "Timeless Textures on the background.  I used Pirouette Pink and Real Red ink.

I colored the ladybug in using a Real Red marker.  I punched some circles, one more than the original card had.  I added wording across that extra circle.  They are from the "Love You Lots" hostess set.  Too cute of a set to pass up.  These ladybugs are also great for an anniversary card.

The red paper with the hearts is from the "Sending Love" Designer Series Paper (DSP) stack.  I never seem to use up those stacks, but I do like to buy them.  There's such a big variety.  I will try hard to use more than just a 2" circle!!! LOL

This was a fun and very easy card to make.  I do like how it looks, though I'm thinking I probably should have made that smaller red circle a Pirouette Pink one instead.  Why don't I see that stuff until it's on the computer and I'm writing about it? LOL

Wetlands, Get Well Card

Today I was playing around with some fonts on my computer and I ended up with this.  Though I am not pleased with it once I saw it on here.  I think I need to move the word "soon" over to the center.  I think it will balance it out better. In a different font it was fine but these too, though they do meld together nicely, they need to be centered with each other. There's a lot more to combining fonts than I thought, but it's a fun learning experience.

I found a fun card on and I thought I would make a masculine get well card.  I LOVED how the original card had the sponging on the bottom left.  I tried to duplicate it but sponging is not an exact science and you will never be able to duplicate your own sponging.  I do like what I ended up with and if you do not compare it to the original card no one will be the wiser!!! LOL  You can see the original card here.

Before I began the sponging, I cut an "L" shaped piece of cardstock so I could use it as a template to sponge.  I taped it in place with removable tape.  Then I sponged.  Once I was done sponging I took my stylus and my scoring board and made the lines on the side and bottom.  The original card had the lines going all the way up and down and across both sides.  I liked it but I wanted to try to be a little different, so I just stopped where they intersected.

Next I stamped the goose on the card stock.  Then I stamped another one and fussy cut it out.  I colored in the beak, head and neck using a Basic Gray marker.  Then I used a blender pen and the Chocolate Chip marker and colored in the goose.

The words were done on my computer and I used the stitches oval die to cut them out.  I used a scalloped oval die to cut out the layer behind it.  I set the words and goose in place using Dimensionals.  And that was it.  Not too difficult but I don't see myself making a lot of them!!!

Balloon Adventure, Birthday Card, Stamp a Stack, 2017 Occasions Catalog

Here is a card that I want to share with you that I made at Terri's FABULOUS Stamp a Stack last week.  I put two cards in the photo so you can see how the card opens.  It's a different way to make a card.  Very fun!

The base of the card is a 1/4 sheet of card stock, we used Pacific Point.  The part of the card that opens is a 8-1/2" x 2-3/4" piece of Tangerine Tangelo.  I need to use the tangerine color more.  I don't think I've touched my pack of it much at all.

I do not know what set the words are from.  There were lots of images to chose from while we were stamping. I just picked the ones that I thought would be something I would want to say and I used those.  The ink for the words is Pacific Point.

The decorative paper on the front panel is from the "Party Animal" Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. It's a fun and festive pack of paper. It's from the 2017 Occasions catalog.   I don't think I ordered any of that and am now regretting it.  Oh well, it's not like I don't have papers to play with.

These were very fun cards to play with and I had a great time making them with my friends. This is a very fun layout and you can use up a lot of your scrap DSP this way.  The DSP piece is cut 3" x 4".

Falling For You, Botanical Builder, Get Well Card, 2017 Occasions Catalog

I had some fun coloring today.  I used the small flowers from the "Falling for You" set in the 2017 Occasions catalog. I colored them in using a blender pen and Rich Razzleberry ink. It was fun until I had to color in the other 3 cards I needed to make.  Yup, I needed 4 get well cards.  But it's better than needing 4 sympathy cards.  After I colored in the flowers, I stamped the green wispy image using Old Olive ink. Oh, I forgot to mention, I did not cut the card stock until I was done coloring.  I tend to keep my images inside the lines and when I stamp first, I get that look of going off the edges. I like it but I don't always remember to do it, so I just stamp first and then cut.  Plus if you really mess up a card, you didn't spend any time cutting it first!!! After stamping I cut the Whisper White piece 4" x 5-1/4".

Next I cut a strip of Rich Razzleberry card stock 1/2" x 5-1/4" and I taped it in place on the edge of my flowers.

I used the "Botanical Builders" dies and cut out my flower using the Sweet Sugarplum cardstock.  The center of the flower is Rich Razzleberry.  The leaf is cut out of Old Olive.  The center of the flower is a 1/4" punched circle of silver glitter paper.

The words were done on my computer.  And yes, I'm still working on getting these fun words into my store for those of you who have emailed me.  I will post on here when they are available for sale as a download so you can print as many as you wish in different colors of cardstock!!!

I prefer making one card and not a bunch at one time but all in all, I do like the card and I really like the colors.

Botanical Builders, Gorgeous Grunge, Bloomin' Love, Valentine's Day Card

When I was playing around with this card I was starting to regret that I didn't buy any Valentine's Day stamp sets. But I started looking through my stamp sets and found the "My Valentine" in the "Bloomin' Love" set.  So I was content!!!  I just didn't want to buy a set that I wouldn't use much.  I didn't see them as very versatile.  I tend to pass them up when I can't see more uses out of them then for a single day "holiday".  But when I saw  I had something from the "Bloomin' Love" set I ran with it.  I had bought that set because I could use it for weddings, anniversaries and Valentine's Day.  Now that's versatility!!!

For this card I used a folded half sheet of Whisper White for the base.  Then I added a layer of Rich Razzleberry that cut 4" x 5-1/4".  The Whisper White layer on top was cut 3-3/4" x 5".

First I stamped the words using Melon Mambo ink.  Then I stamped the dots on using Rich Razzleberry ink.  Next I stamped Melon Mambo ink but I stamped off once because I wanted to be able to see the words.

I die cut the flower using Melon Mambo cardstock.  I cut an Old Olive leaf for behind the flower and I cut a silver glitter leaf.  That leaf is much prettier in person.  The center of the flower is from the "Botanical Builders", I cut two of them and colored the tips with the white chalk marker.  I taped the two together and that is what design it made.  I thought it looked kind of cool. Well, different anyway!!! LOL  I put the flower together with glue dots.  I used a Dimensional to set the flower in place on the card and it was done.  It was pretty quick to make.  Though now that I look at it, I wish I would have done the words on a separate piece of cardstock and added it with a layer behind it. One good thing about this card the way it's laid out, I can still do that.  And I just may add the layer and words separate.  I'll post it on here when I get it done.  The card with go in the pile with some other ones that are waiting for a little "face lift"!

Beautiful You, Birthday Card, 2017 Occasions Catalog

I saw a fun card (looks a lot like this one  LOL) on the net and I wanted to try to duplicate it.  The original card can be found here.  It has a stitched or faux stitched edge around the Crumb Cake card stock.  I didn't have the means to make the edges like that, so I just left them plain.  But they really do need a little something.  I suppose I could have sponged them.  It's too late now, the top layer is set in place using Dimensionals, and there's no getting it off without marking up that piece.  So it is what it is.

The base of my card is Whisper White.  I stamped the image and then used the new Watercolor Pencils.  I blended the color in using a blender pen.  For the skin I used the Calypso Coral color.  I lightly colored it on the skin areas and used the blender pen to soften the color.  There was no pink in the pack so, I had to do the best I could.  I'm glad that color worked because I LOVE using watercolor pencils.

The words came from the set.  It's a fun set and there's LOTS of images and words to play with.  I have seen many cards that I want to try to make.  Plus I'd like to come up with some original ones too!!

This was a super easy card to make. I do like the look of it.

Moon Baby, Baby Boy Card, 2017 Occasions Catalog

Today I thought I would give another image from the "Moon Baby" set a try.  I LOVE this sleeping baby on the moon. Since I made a girl card yesterday, I thought I would try a boy one today.  Though I think I may make one of these in pink and one in a green, maybe Pear Pizzazz, a soft green, so I have one for those who don't know what they are having.

For this card I used a folded half sheet of Basic Black cardstock.  Then I added a 4" x 5-1/5" of Bermuda Bay decorative paper from the 12" x 12" stacks.  I stamped the image on a 3" x 3-1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock. Then I colored the images in. I was going to add some Dazzling Diamonds to the stars but I decided not to.  I still might do it though, I think it could use a little sparkle.

Once I colored the image in, I layered it on a piece 3-1/8" x 3-3/8" piece of Basic Black cardstock.  I stamped the words and used the oval dies to cut them out plus the scalloped layer behind it.  I taped the baby panel in place on top of the decorative paper.  And for the words, I used Dimensionals behind them to give the card some depth. Originally I was going to have the card landscape instead of portrait but I couldn't get the words to look right on it, so I turned the cardstock and this is what I ended up with.  I like it, I think it turned out just fine.

The inside of the card reads: "do you know how loved you are?"  Isn't that just the sweetest?

This was a fun card to make and I could see myself making some more.  They were fun and easy enough to do.

Thank you ever so much for stopping by today,

Baby Moon, Baby Girl Card

I am going to be in need of a girl baby shower card so I thought I would try to get a jump on things this year and be prepared.  I am going to make a pair of cute baby booties (I'll show you them when I finish them) and go shopping for something else.  But I wanted to make a card and this is what I came up with.

I used the "Baby Moon" set.  I have not played with it yet and thought I'd better.  I think this is the first baby set I've bought in a long time.  I don't usually make baby cards, but that doesn't mean that people don't shop for them.  So I plan to make some for the fall craft fairs.

This card was very easy to make and I wish I would have "assembly lined" it.  Cutting all the pieces at the same time. But I didn't know where I was going with the image before I started.  But it was simple enough so I can make a few more easily.  The paper is still sitting out (like that surprises you!!! LOL), and of course, the stamp set is not put away!!!  That's SO me!

I used Basic Black cardstock for the base, Whisper White cardstock for the top of the front and the image.  And I used Pink Pirouette decorative paper from the 12" x 12" stack.  My stack is getting thinner but it's still pretty full.  I LOVE those stacks but I do need to use them more.  I cut my decorative paper piece 3" x  4".

This set has stars in it, so I used Daffodil Delight and stamped some stars on the top panel.  The words are also in the set and I stamped them using black Memento ink. The top panel was cut 2-1/4" x 4".  It was set in place right on top of the Basic Black card base.

I stamped and colored in the baby. I used a 2" x 4" piece of Whisper White card stock and a 2-1/8" x 4-1/8" piece of Basic Black cardstock for the layer.

I tied a ribbon around the focal panel.  I used some retired ribbon.  I thought I should start using it up, you demonstrators who read my blog will just substitute it with current ribbon.  I substitute ribbon all the time because I don't have it.  And after giving it some thought, I figured that using retired ribbon is about the same thing, it will be replace by current or other ribbon by someone else that does not have the same product used in photos!  SO on that note, I will be using some of my retired ribbons now and then.  Once the ribbon was tied on, I added Dimensionals to the back and set the panel in place.  That was it.  Super easy, super quick and pretty darn cute!!!

Flourishing Thinlits, Falling in Love DSP, Get Well Card

Simple cards at their best!!!  I had a left over piece of scrap from yesterday's "Bloomin' Love" card so I thought I would use it on today's card since the Perfect Plum color went well with it.

I die cut the image using the "Flourishing" Thinlits die.  I did use waxed paper between the die and the cardstock to make it easier to remove from the die.  And yes, it REALLY does help!

The base of my card is Perfect Plum.  I added a layer of Very Vanilla cut 5-3/8" x 4-1/4".  Then I trimmed up the edge of my scrap "Falling in Love" Decorative Series Paper (DSP).  I trimmed 1/8" inch off so it measured 2" x 5-1/4".

I glued the flourish in place.  To do this in a neat way that will cover the whole image, you need to spread some glue on a piece of waxed paper.  I spread the glue and folded the waxed paper in half. Then I took my bone folder and spread the glue evenly, you don't want thick blobs.  I made sure my piece of waxed paper was big enough for my image first.  Once the clue was spread I opened the waxed paper and then set my piece on top. I took another piece of waxed paper around the same size, preferably larger and pressed it on top. I ran my hand over the are to make sure the glue got to every part.  Then I removed the top piece of waxed paper.  I picked up the bottom piece and rolled it a bit so my image would lift off it.  I took that edge and gently pulled my image from the glue.  I set the image in place and pressed to make sure it stuck.  So quick and SO neat, oh and pretty easy too!!

The words were done on my computer.  Today I worked on the "Get Well Soon" wording for the PDF file I'm creating to add to my web store.  The one in there was designed for the 1-1/4" punch and scalloped circle punch.  It's an okay set of words but it's time for something new and fun.

I printed the words out on Very Vanilla cardstock.  Then I used the stitched oval to punch them out.  I used the scalloped oval die and Crumb Cake cardstock for the back layer. I set the words in place using Dimensionals.  And that was it.  Pretty simple. Not a lot of pieces and it was a quick card to put together.

Bloomin' Love, Anniversary Card

I made this card for our son and daughter-in-laws anniversary.  I can't believe it's been 5 years already.  Time is flying by SO fast.

This was a very fun card to make and not all that difficult either.  I used Crumb Cake cardstock for the base.  Then a piece of Very Vanilla cut at 5-3/8" x 4-1/4".  I trimmed up a piece of the "Falling in Love" Decorative Series Paper (DSP) to 5-1/4" x 4".

I die cut the heart using the "Bloomin' Hearts" Thinlits and Sweet Sugarplum cardstock.

The heart in the center was done by using the heart image from the "Bloomin' Love" stamp set.  It was stamped using Sweet Sugarplum ink and stamped off once, on Very Vanilla cardstock.  Then it was cut out using the "Hearts" Framelits. When I cut the hearts out I cut the flowers out at the same time.  I sponged the edges of the center of the flowers using Sweet Sugarplum ink.  I put them together and set them in place with tiny glue dots.  I set a half pearl in the center of each.  I also use glue dots to set the larger lacy looking heart in place.

For the Very Vanilla heart, I used Dimensionals to set it in place.  The words are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  I used Crumb Cake ink to stamp them.  The banner is from the "Bloomin' Love" set and it was stamped using Sweet Sugarplum ink and fussy cut by hand. UGH!!!  You know how much I do NOT like to cut things out by hand anymore.  Stampin' Up! has spoiled me with all of those fun dies!

This was a pretty easy card to make and assemble.  It was fun to do too!  I wouldn't think twice about making more!!  I LOVE that DSP!!

Cool Treats, Birthday Card, 2017 Occasions Catalog

Today I'm going to share with you one of the cards I made last night at Terri's FABULOUS Stamp a Stack.

I LOVE the Watermelon Wonder and Peekaboo Peach together.  The decorative paper is from the "Tasty Treats" Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I don't have that paper so I won't be making any more cards like that but I have other retired papers that I can use to make cards similar to this and use up some of that stash I have.  UGH!!  I need to get cracking and us the papers instead of hoarding them.  Plus, when you use DSP, you cover a lot of the card with a printed design so you don't have to stamp as much!!!  A big DUH there!! Think of the time I would save doing that!!!

This was a fun card to make.  We used the "Banner Triple" Punch.  We punched first and then stamped our words.  How smart is that??  I usually stamp and then punch and then punch off my wording!  The words were set in place using Dimensionals.  Three rhinestones were added under the words for a little bling!  I LOVE it!  Such a fun card!!!  It's great for any age too!

Thank you ever so much for stopping by today, it's much appreciated!

Swirly Bird, Mini Treats Bag Die, Sending Love Decorative Series Paper

Today I thought I would make a bird food Valentine.  I have not made one in a while.  I LOVE making these.

For this one I used the "Mini Treat Bag" Thinlits die.  I used the hearts thinlits.  I typed up the words and printed them out. Then I die cut them.  I taped them on once I glued the bag together. I used "Sending Love" Decorative Series Paper.

I stamped the bird and fussy cut it out.  I set the bird in place using a Dimensional.

I tied a ribbon around it to finished it off.

I filled little zip bag with bird seeds and added it to the bag.

You can see one I did several years ago, just click here.  The poem is there too, so if you wanted to make some, you can just do a cut and paste.  Then you don't have to type.  If I can avoid typing, I will.

These are fun to make and to give away.

Beautiful You Birthday Card, No Line Watercolor Technique, 2017 Occasions Catalog

I have never tried the "No Line Watercolor" technique before and I've always wanted to.  While surfing the net someone's post referred to this technique, so I thought it was time to give it a try.  It does take a little time to do, but then again, when you work with watercolors, they always take time.  You can't work the whole piece at one time.  You work the wet area and then move on to let it dry and work another area. That is the real secret to watercoloring.

To do this technique with this image from the "Beautiful You" set, I stamped it using Smoky Slate stamped off once. You want the original lines to be very faint.  You will be blending these lines in with the brush and the color as you go. So if I would have used a darker ink, the flesh tones would have had more grey in them.  You need to slowly work the lines away while adding color to the area at the same time.

I started out by wetting the dress area.  I used Daffodil Delight to color it all in.  I worked the edges to get the lines to disappear.  I did that with each area I worked.  Once I got the Daffodil Delight on, I moved on to the hat and allowed the dress to dry some.  From the hat I moved to the arms and then the legs.  I came back to those areas several times adding a darker tone of the color I was working with.  On the dress I also added Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango and then Cajun Craze.

It's a fun technique but I'm not too sure I would do it again, it did take a lot of time.

Once it was dry I cut it using the circle dies and I also die cut a circle scallop.  The words are from the set and I used the oval dies on the layers.

The decorative paper is from the Serene Scenery 6" x 6" paper stack.  The base of the card is Smoky Slate.  I added a strip of Delightful Dijon on the front.  The image and words were set in place using Dimensionals.  And that was it.

Balloon Adventures, Birthday Card, 2017 Occasions Catalog

Today I'm going to share with you a birthday card I received from my friend and a fabulous demonstrator Terri.  I saw this set in the new 2017 Occasions catalog but I passed it up. There were other sets that I wanted instead.  It was quite a long wish list that needed thinning out.  And I mean REALLY thin!  I think I liked almost everything in that catalog!  Oh, what's new?  I always like most of the stuff in the catalogs.  I wanted to be more picky when it came to what I buy.  I would have from the time it arrives until May 31st to play with them.  A little longer than the holiday one!  So, I could add a few extra things to play with. But I had to keep in mind that I still have things from the 2016 - 2107 catalog that I have not played with yet, or have not played with enough. Anyway, long story short, I did order this bundle.  I get the stamps plus the dies.  Such a deal.  I will make some fun cards and post them on here when I do.

For this card, I can sort of guide you through it. I say sort of because I didn't make it.  The base of the card is a folded half sheet of Whisper White card stock that was cut on the short side.  The Decorative Series Paper (DSP) is called "Party Animal".  I like how Terri added a thin strip of Daffodil Delight behind the layers. And I like how it's open in the center.

The words are from the "Balloon Adventures" stamping set.

The balloons here are made with the die cut that is from the "Balloon Pop-up Thinlits Dies.  When you buy the bundle you get both sets plus 10% the original price of each. I love the bows that come with the dies too.  How fun is that?  Baker's Twine was curled and added to the balloons.  I think I'm going to have a LOT of fun with this set.

When I opened the envelope, the card was opened and folded backwards.  I thought it was odd but then I realized that in doing that the images stay nice after going through the postal system!!  Such a smart idea!

This looks like a fun set and I'll be sharing some cards with you soon!

Avant-Garden, Birthday Card, 2017 Sale-a-Bration

I wanted to play with the "Avant-Garden" set again but I wanted to use the flower cluster this time.  Though I do think I like the single flower better, I knew I had to give this image a try. I want to try to use every image in my sets. Many times I buy a set for just one image in it.  So sad!!!  SO I am challenging myself to use more images in each set. Hopefully all of the images!  That would be ideal!  Other than a couple of word images in this set, I have used the bulk of them! That makes me happy since this is a Sale-a-Brations set and retires on March 31st.  It seems like a long enough time, but when you mix it with the new sets in the new Occasions catalog, it really isn't!

So, onto my card. It's a very simple card to make.  The base of my card is Basic Black. The next layer is Whisper White cut 4_ x 5-1/4".  Then I cut a piece of the dotted green paper from the "Serene Scenes" 6" x 6" pad.  The color on the front said it was Old Olive but when I cut a piece of Old Olive card stock for my layer, it looked too green, so I went with Pear Pizzazz.  I stamped my image and then I trimmed it up and from there I measured it and cut my layers 1/8" larger.

The words were done on my computer. I'll be working on the PDF for them this weekend and it should be in my web store a couple of days after that (unless I can enter it in by myself without any help).  There is a very nice "Happy Birthday Wishes" in the set that fits nicely in the oval and scalloped oval dies that you see used here.  I just happened to have had these words already die cut and I thought I would use them.  The lazy part in me shows up every now and then!!!  LOL
The flower was colored in using Pear Pizzazz for the stem, leaves and under the flowers.  And the flowers were colored in using Wisteria Wonder.  I just colored directly from the marker, no blending. You gotta LOVE that!!!  And that was it.  Simple, quick and easy!

Pivot Twist Pop-Up Technique, Friendship Card

Here is a card I received in Terri's Technique Night swap. This is the "Pivot Twist Pop-up" Technique.  It's a whole lot easier than it looks.  Trust me on this one!  I have a link to the instructions and some tips in that link that will save you some time, frustration and confusion!!!  So please read the whole post before you head out to the link! Click here to be directed to the instructions.

This card was made by Julie.  I am not sure what set she used. But I will try to find it in the catalog and update my post.

Beautiful You, Birthday Card, 2017 Occasions Catalog

So, it's onto something new and different.  I wanted this set because it reminded me of the "Seaside Sketches" that has long been retired (I still have my set but will soon be parting with a lot of my retired sets).  It could be that it was the same artist. I don't know, I knew I liked it and wanted to play with it.

I used some "Pop of Pink" Washi tape for the strips on the left side and bottom.

Then I stamped the image and cut it with the oval Framelit.  I was disappointed though, I wanted a Melon Mambo Oval scallop behind it but there wasn't one large enough.  Bummer. So I ended up sponging the edges.  Not the look I wanted but it has to do.

The words were done on my computer using the Curlz and Cambria fonts.  I am planning on making a PDF purchased download with a number of sentiments on it.  I had ones in my store that went well with the 1-1/4" circle punch but it's time for something new.  It will take a while because I have a TON of things going on and it's only January!!! LOL  I'll post it on here when it's ready.

This was a very fun and easy card to make.

In the Meadow, Masculine Card, Reflections Technique

This card was made by Tawna.  I received it in a technique swap last month. I didn't do he "Reflections" technique for my swap, I had done the  "Pivot Twist Pop-up" technique. You can see my swap card here.  For this technique, we just stamped out image and then we stamped it again on piece of Window Sheet.  Use regular ink, not StazOn.  You want the ink to be wet on your Window Sheet, not dry.  Once you stamp it, turn the Window Sheet upside down and line it up with the image stamped on the cardstock and press down.  And that's it.  Color it in as desired.

I like the looks of this card, it would make great masculine Birthday card, Father's Day card, or even a masculine Sympathy card.

This is a super easy technique to do, give it a try.

Avant Garden, Birthday Card

First of all, I don't make very many cards that are landscape, I usually make them portrait and the fold is on the left side.  Well, the fold is on the left side here, so maybe that is why it didn't seem very different to me when making it.  Such a creature of habit.

While looking for some samples of the Sale-a-Bration set "Avant Garden", I ran across one I liked the colors of.  I was going to copy the card but decided to go in a different direction with it. You can see the card I found on Pinterest by clicking here.  I liked the flower cluster the most, so I proceeded to copy it some what.

I did have to cut two masks so I could get the flowers in there nicely and the leaves as well.  I stamped the So Saffron flower first.  Then I covered it with a mask and stamped the Peekaboo Peach flower.  I masked that and then stamped the Delightful Dijon flower.  Then I stamped the leaf images using Pear Pizzazz ink.  I did have to move the masks around so I could stamp where I needed without the green getting on my flowers.   The center of the flower was open.  I didn't pay attention to the details on the one I saw on Pinterest, so I didn't move my flowers in close enough to cover that hole.  Fortunately the set had a stamen image so I inked it up with Soft Suede and stamped it in the middle.  I was glad it worked out that way because I was able to use Soft Suede cardstock for my layers and the base of my card.

The words were done on my computer.  Someone had asked about the fonts I used.  Curlz for the "birthday" and Cambria for the "wishes".  I set the image and the words in place using Dimensionals.

As I look at the card, I am pleased with how it turned out but I think a little strip of Soft Suede between the two pieces of Pear Pizzazz Decorative Paper would have given it a nice touch.  It's too late to do anything about it because the Dimensionals will rip the Decorative Paper if I try to remove the images. But for future reference, I will make a mental note of that (which will get lost up there and never surface again!!! LOL

Touches of Texture, Avant-Garden, Birthday Card

I had to make one more card using the "Touches of Texture" set before I put it on the shelf and move on to something else! Though it was fun playing with it, I must move on but I think I will revisit it in a couple of weeks.

I found this clean and simple card on Pinterest.  You can see the original card here.  I only made a couple of changes to it. I changed the wording because I didn't have the set that was used on it.  And I added the bee.  I thought he was so cute and I just had to put it on the card.  I was going to use the dragonfly up higher in the sky but I thought it looked nice just empty, so I went with the smaller bug!  And I kept it low.

I do like how this card turned out.  It's made with a single folded half sheet of Whisper White card stock.  The lace and dotted image and bee were stamped using Sahara Sand ink.  The flower and words were stamped using black Memento ink.  The flowers were stamped using Sweet Sugarplum ink and the leaves were stamped using the same image as the flowers but using Pear Pizzazz ink.  And that was it.  Super easy and minimal supplies!

Touches of Texture, Birthday Card

I was checking out Pinterest for some cards made using the "Touches of Texture" set.  I want to use this set a bit more than I have.  While surfing I found this fun card here, so I thought I would try to make one. I did change it a little and I do like how it turned out.

To make this card I used a folded half sheet of Sahara Sand cardstock.  It's one of those colors I don't use very often at all. Then I cut a piece of Sweet Sugarplum cardstock for the layer behind the Whisper White.  I did die cut the scalloped oval from the center of the Sweet Sugarplum cardstock before I put the card together.  No one will know that piece has an oval cut from it!  Plus it saves on cardstock.

I stamped the images using Sweet Sugarplum and Sahara Sand ink.  I added the rhinestones, and then I added the words.  The words were done on my computer.  I like them much better on today's card as compared to yesterday's card

This was a very fun and easy card to make.  Plus it was done in under 20 minutes!!!  Got to love those quick cards!

Gift of Love, Birthday Card

This was a very simple card to make.  I used the "Gift of Love" set to do the flower.  I stamped it using VersaMark and embossed it in gold.  I colored it in using Soft Sky, Old Olive, and a blender pen.

I layered it with Old Olive to tie it in with the stems.

I typed the words on my computer.  I like having two different types of fonts in one image.  I want to work on some more birthday ones using a different font for the "birthday".  I like this one but it's kind of childish looking.  The flower is to sophisticated for that font.  I am planning on getting some other words, holidays, etc. made up too and putting them in PDF file for sale in my web store.  I have the one that is just a plain font and it's designed for the 1-1/4" punch but those have retired.  The words I just did fit the ovals.  I didn't try it on the circle framelits, I was needing an oval one.  I'll have to check to see how it works with the circles.  I'll keep you posted when I'm done creating the PDF.

This was a fun card to make.  It was easy and quick.  I'm sure you can find some wording to work with your card.

Watercolor Wings, Flutter Embossing Folder, Gorgeous Grunge, Thank You Card

This is card I received in a pack of cards from Terri.  It was made using the "Flutter" embossing folder, "Watercolor Wings" and "Gorgeous Grunge".  Along with some Dimensionals, sequins and gold embossing powder.

The butterflies were embossed on Pink Pirouette card stock and sponged with Perfect Plum.  The layer behind that is a piece of Rich Razzleberry and the base of the card is a folded half sheet of Perfect plum.

The words were stamped on Perfect Plum and punched with the Washi Tape punch.  The butterfly background was stamped with the "Gorgeous Grunge" dotted image and Versa Mark and then embossed with gold embossing powder.  It pulls in the gold sequins nicely.  There's a gold sequin on each wing as well as down the center of the butterfly.

It's SO much prettier in real life.
