A Stylized Happy Birthday Shaker Technique Card

Tonight I am at Terri's very fun and informative "Tuesday Technique" night.  I'm excited to see what two techniques she has for the group!!!  Last time the group met we made the "Vellum View" technique (you can see my "Velllum View" card here) and the "Shaker Card" technique (you can see the shaker card here).  I had not done a shaker card in a very long time. I like them on a card, it gives the card a little interaction with the one who receives it.  I misspoke when I said I like shaker cards.  After making a dozen of these, that thought is on hold for a while!!! LOL  I don't know why I think I have to make cards with TONS of pieces for swaps!!!  Maybe because I did like the looks of the card.  Okay, to be honest, it is fun (to make one!!!).  LOL

For my card I used the "Stylized Birthday" set for the words. I was SO glad that Stampin' Up! had a large happy birthday stamp again, I love working with it.

The balloons were made using the balloon punch.  I first punched out the small balloon and then lined up the larger one over it and centered it as much as I could and punched it out.  Then I had to punch out a full large balloon for the backing.  Once I had my pieces cut out, I took a piece of "Window Sheet" and glued it to the inside of the balloon ring. If you are making just one card you will need to let it dry for a little while.  If you're making a bunch like I did, by the time you are done the first ones you did will be dry or dry enough.  Trim the "Window Sheet" to fit the balloon.  I don't recommend using your punch for the "Window Sheets".  I used a punch on them once and my punch got ruined.  They trim up pretty fast.

Next I took the new "Foam Adhesive Strips" and I cut then in half the long way, so they weren't as wide.  If I would have used them right from the package you would see them and have a sticky mess all over the place.  I put the foam around the balloon.

I punched out some stars from the star border punch using the white glitter paper.  I piled the stars up in the middle of the solid balloon.  I made sure the glitter was facing up. The first one I didn't and I thought shaking would make them turn but they don't.  Then I hovered over the balloon and stuck the balloon frame to the balloon back.  And that's it.  Repeat for as many balloons as  you need or can stand to make!!! LOL

I set the words in place using regular Dimenisonals and the balloons were set in place using mini glue dots.  I wanted something stronger than snail tape.

I do like how this card turned out and I think it will be a fun swap card!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
