Another July 2016 Paper Pumpkin Alternate Birthday Card

I was looking at one of the pieces left from the box I cut up yesterday from the July 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit.  This particular piece had two strips of tape that were screaming to be used.  I folded the score lines inward and the piece made a cute "cone". I even arched it a bit so it has a 3-D effect.

To make this card, first I set that triangle piece in place.  Then I stamped and punched out a bunch of flowers from the "Flower Shop" set.  I added a pearl to the center of each one. I used Pop Up Glue Dots behind the flowers. I cut some leaves from the "Swirly Scribbles" Framelits, using Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz card stock.  I stuck them in place using Glue Dots.

The words are from the "Petite Pairs" stamp set.  I set it in place behind the "cone".  I did have to lift the edge a little to work it in, it was just a little too long for that space.

The base of this card is Crushed Curry.  I set the focal piece in place using Dimensionals.  

Oh and I covered the hole in the tip of the "cone" with a leaf. I added a leaf to the top edge of the "cone" to make it look like the one covering the hole fell from the top.

Now I do have to admit, this card looked SO much better in my head!!

A July 2016 Paper Pumpkin Alternate Birthday Card

I was not so fond of making a bunch of boxes in my July 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit, so I thought I would see what kind of cards I could make with the supplies.  A couple of boxes are fine but I didn't need or want that many so I headed off to my workroom to see what else I could create and this is what I came up with.

It's a pretty simple card.  I just took one of the boxes and cut it on the score lines.  Sometimes I didn't cut it close enough so I had to cut it again to make sure the score lines were gone.  Then I set the triangle on top of a piece of Crushed Curry card stock. I chose Crushed Curry because the metallic dots on the triangles were a coppery looking color and Crushed Curry was the closest color to it.

I also stamped the words and the diamonds using Crushed Curry ink.  I added the tiniest rhinestone to each diamond to make it look like it was VERY sparkly!  

I cut the Whisper White piece 3-3/4" x 5".  And the base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Crushed Curry.  And that was it.  Now on to see what else I can make.

A Flourishing Phrases and Flourish Thinlits Sympathy Card

I REALLY do like playing with the "Flourish" Thinlits.  I use it wish waxed paper and the pieces come put pretty easy. If they don't pop out right away, I just take the end of my stylus and they pop out.  Some people use dryer sheets.  I don't like to use them because I've found that the tape doesn't stick as well to my card stock, so I just stick with the waxed paper. I've had great luck with it and it's all I use. So when I see a die with lots of intricate details, I no longer look the other way. I use to pass up them because I thought they were too hard to work with.  Well, they were until I found out about the waxed paper.  So it's my go to product, plus it's cheaper than dryer sheets, and my hands don't feel like they are covered in a film of something!

Okay, let's talk about my card. To begin with, I took a folded half sheet of Island Indigo.  I cut my Whisper White card stock 3-7/8" x 5-1/8".  I cut out the flowery image.  Then I spread some glue on a piece of waxed paper.  I folded it in half and squished it flat a bit to get the glue leveled out some. Then I opened up the waxed paper and set the cut image on it to pick up some glue.  It wasn't important to cover the entire piece with glue but enough to make it stick.  I did set another piece of waxed paper on top to make sure I got a better contact with the glue.  I picked up the piece and set it in place on my card stock.  Now there is a glue pen with a fine tip you can use but I don't have one.  I use to have one that was thin enough but on larger pieces, by the time I got to the end the beginning part had already dried, so I just use the glue and waxed paper technique.

Once I got the image glued in place, I added some rhinestones to the round "pod" looking parts. Then I stamped the words using Island Indigo ink.

This was a really simple card to make and I think I would like to make more for other occasions.

A Bloomin' Heart Thinlit and Happy Happenings Birthday Card

I bought the new "Festive" textured embossing folder but hadn't played with it yet.  I do like it, it does have that "festive" look to it!!! LOL  I cut it to 3-7/8" x 5-1/8".

The words are from the "Happy Happenings" set and I stamped them on a 4" x 3/4" scrap piece of Whisper White card stock.  I left it long because I wasn't sure how long I wanted it to be.  So the first thing I did was punched the end using the "Triple Banner" punch. The piece was a bit small for the area that you slide the paper in so I had to eye it to make it centered.  After I punched it out I stamped the words and from there I trimmed the left side to fit the area.  So when all was said and done the piece measured 2-3/4" from the left side to the right tip of the banner.  

The flowers are from the "Bloomin' Heart" Thinlits dies.  I used Dapper Denim and Island Indigo card stock.  In the center I added the "White Perfect Accents" dots.  

The textured background and words were set in place using Dimensionals.  The flowers were set in place with glue dots. 

This was a super easy card to make and I do like how it turned out.

A Swirly Bird Sliding Star Congratulations Card

Today I'm going to share with you yet another spinner card. I can't emphasize enough how quick and simple these are to make.  I LOVE the "Swirly Bird" set for the images and the words and the "Sliding Star" Framelits for the template for the spinner.

For this card I stamped the moon image all over the Soft Sky card stock using Soft Sky ink.  Then I stamped the earth and colored it in. I punched it out with a circle punch and taped it in place, flat on the center circle.  I added some bling after assembling it.

Like I said, these are super easy to make and fun to play with. Once you complete one, you test it to make sure it spins. If you didn't get the foam tape too close on the back side it should spin fine.  Then you will spend a few minutes spinning it because it's not only fun but addictive!!!  LOL

A Sliding Star Shooting Star Congratulations Spinner Card

I had such a fun time playing with the spinner cards.  The "Sliding Star" set is SO much fun. There's lots of fun images to play with.

Here I used the shooting star. I stamped the other two smaller stars in the set using Versa Mark and I embossed them in gold.

Then I used the arched die to make the spinner opening.  I added the foam tape to the back and then I made my penny sandwich.  You can use washers but pennies are cheaper.  

I added the star using a Dimensional and slipped the pennies in place and it was ready to roll!

The earth image was also in the set.  I just stamped it and colored it in.  I wanted to set it in place with a Dimensional but I couldn't because it would sit up too high and the spinning image would get caught on it, so I had to tape it on flat.  But I did set the words in place with Dimensionals.

A Botanical Builder and Petite Pairs Thank You Card

I had some scraps of "Bloom & Bliss" Designers Series Paper (DSP) and I was going to toss them because they were only about an inch wide.  But if you know me like my family does, you know I can't throw anything away!  You know what happens when you do!  That's when you need it!  LOL

This card was very fun to make.  I used Rich Razzleberry for the base of the card.  Then I added a layer of Crumb Cake and then the Whisper White piece that I stamped on.  I stamped the ferny looking image from the "Timeless Textures" set using Crumb Cake ink that I stamped off once. Then I stamped some dots from that same set using Blushing Bride ink.  I stamped it directly and then stamped again for a lighter color pink.

I took my 1" pieces of DSP and used the triple banner punch on the ends.  I used the next size up to make the layer but it was too big, so I had to trim it up a bit on each side.  I stamped the words on a piece of Whisper White and layered it with Crumb Cake like I did the other two DSP pieces.

The flower, flower center, and the leaves are from the "Botanical Builders" Framelits set.  I like to take a chop stick and curl the edges of the flower petals before I attach it to my card.  I have torn petals of doing that before but if you're adding a center to the flower it's easy to hide the tear!  I set my flower in place using a pop up glue dot (I'm low on Dimensionals) and I added the leaves to the dot too, before I set it in place on the card.  I added a "White Perfect Accents" dot to the center of the flower.  I suppose I could have colored it with a permanent marker to make it pop more but I didn't think of it until now. 

I thought it was a very fun card to make. It has lots of pieces, which I often like to play with and it's got lots of colorful movement to it.

A Swirly Scribbles, Botanical Builder, Bloomin' Heart Thinlits Birthday Card

There's LOTS of stuff going on with this card.  I started out with a scrap piece of Blossoms & Bliss decorative paper. Then I added the Crumb Cake scribble ring from "Swirly Scribbles".  And then I began to embellish it with lots of pieces of things in my stash.  I had leaves from "Botanical Builder" and "Swirly Scribbles" Thinlits.  I added the smaller flowers from "Bloomin' Hearts",  and "Botanical Builder".  

I set the swirly ring in place using Dimensionals, but I only put them were the flowers were. So if you were to think of the ring as a clock, the Dimensionals would be placed at 2,4, and 7 o'clock.  

I added pearls to the center of all of the flowers.  

The words are from the "Petite Pairs" stamp set.  

This was a fun card to make and it was fun to dig in my stash and see what would work.  I did have to cut some blue flowers out though, I don't have that big of a color variety in my stash!!

A Touches of Texture, Timeless Textures and Happy Happenings Birthday Card

You're not seeing double.  Or are you?  LOL  I wasn't sure what color I wanted to make the background of this card, so I thought I would make both and see which one would be better.  I still can't decide?  Can you?

I used the "Touches of Texture" stamp set for the flowers and the misty looking background on the large layer.  I stamped them using Dapper Denim ink. I also used "Timeless Textures" for the ring marks showing on the right side.

The flowers were stamped using Dapper Denim and Delightful Dijon ink.  

The top card was made using Crumb Cake card stock with a Dapper Denim base.  I sponged the edges using Crumb Cake. I stamped the flower image using Crumb Cake ink and Very Vanilla card stock.  I wish I would have layered that piece in Dapper Denim card stock, it kind of got lost on the card.  

The bottom card was made the same way except I used Sahara Sand for the ink and card stock.  And again, I wished I would have stepped back from it so I could see that it needed a layer of Dapper Denim on the flower panel.  But what's done is done. 

Anyway, you pick which you like better, the Crumb Cake or the Sahara Sand.  Just leave a comment and I'll do a random drawing and send the winner the card they think is better. Don't include any personal info.  I'll do the drawing and let the winner know how to connect.

A Swirly Bird and Stylized Birthday Card

I found this really fun card made by Tracy at "Bedlam and Butterflies".  I was going to copy it but then I ran across a fun card layout in my workroom and I thought I'd combine the too.  I wished I would have found that layout before I had stamped the images, I would have moved them down further in that right corner to make a little more room for the words. 

Anyway, it was still a fun card to make.  I used Crushed Curry for the base of the card.  Actually it was only 1/4 sheet of card stock.  I took a 2" x 5-1/2" piece of Crushed Curry decorative paper and folded it in half.  I taped one side to the back of the card and on the other half I taped a piece of Whisper White card stock.  The decorative paper was strong enough to support that top layered panel.

I stamped the words using Memento black ink and cut it close to the words.  I layered it with a piece of Crushed Curry card stock that was cut 3/16" larger.  I was going to go 1/4" but I needed some extra space so I didn't cut off the image when the Happy Birthday part was closed. It worked out and I do like how it looks.  

I LOVE the "Swirly Bird" set but I'm not fond of fussy cutting.  I thought the set had a bird die with it.  But no!  I had to cut it by hand.  Oh well, at least I only needed one!  I did add some tiny pearls to the centers of each of the flowers and to the bird's eye.  I thought it needed a little more depth and texture.

A Sliding Star Paper Airplane Greeting Spinner Card

Here is another card I had made for Terri's fabulous Stamping Extravaganza.  I had the privilege of demoing for her there.  These spinner cards are super easy and fun to make.

I used the curved bar for the spinner on this card. Though I do prefer the full circle one, it gets a better spin and seems to be more fun.

I used the paper airplane stamp and die to make this card.  The "Sliding Star" framelets is a very fun die pack to play with.  Pare it up with the "Swirly Bird" set and you can stamp the images and cut them out too!  I like the wording that goes with each image too.  This one reads "The sky's the limit!".  How fun is that?

A Flourishing Phrases and Flourish Thinlits Sympathy Card

Today I was playing with the "Flourishing Phrases" and "Flourish" Thinlits.  I thought I'd make a sympathy card.  I like the way the font was and I liked how it fit so well in that bottom corner.  

My focal panel measures 5" x 3-3/4".  I cut a piece of scrap card stock 2-1/2" x 3-3/4".  I centered it on the focal panel piece and traced around it with the Basic Black marker.  Then I stamped the wording. I cut the flowering part out of Basic Black card stock and glued it in place.  I like to glue the easy way.  I take a piece of waxed paper and spread some white glue on it. I fold the waxed paper in half, smoosh it together and then open it.  I set the image to be glued on top.  I light ly press the card stock areas with a toothpick and then remove the image.  I set it place and check to make sure there's no glue showing.  I remove any excess glue with a toothpick.  I taped all the layers together and it was done.

For the final touch I added pearls to the flourish.  As simple as that!

A Swirly Bird and Snow Place Christmas Card

I promise I won't do another Christmas in July card!  I'm not a big fan of Christmas in July.  I'm not in the Christmas spirit this time of year. I like to go to the stores when the Christmas music is playing and the store is all aglow with Christmas items and smells too! So with that said, I will hold off for a few months before I make any more Christmas cards.

I had the "Swirly Bird" bundle for a few days making card and this card came to mind.  SO I cut out the front panel and set it aside for a day that I had time to play with it and see if what was in my head would come out well on paper.  It did, I like how it ended up/.

I used the "Snow Place" set and matching die for the snowman, hat and holly.  I especially loved the holly.  It was fun to just stamp it and use the die to cut it out.  Fussy cutting is something I'm not all that fond of and especially on small tiny pieces.

First I stamped the snowflakes using the white craft ink.  I set it aside to give it time to dry.  Next I punched out a 2-1/2" circle of Whisper White and tore it for the snow. Then I stamped the snowman, arms, hat and holly.  I took a red Sharpie and colored the rhinestones in and set them aside to dry while I hunted down my glue dots.  I used those to put the holly in place on the hat and the word panel.  The words are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  I was going to use some wording from the "Snow Place" set but I forgot and I knew I couldn't stamp it once I got the card front on the card base. I've tried that before, it just doesn't work!  I like the words from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  I punched the words close to the edge so I had an open space on the left to add the holly.  The words are set in place using Dimensionals.

A Swirly Scribbles and Flourishing Phrases Wedding Card

Today I thought I would make a card that I saw on Pinterest that I just HAD to try.  I thought it was such a lovely card.  It was made by Becky at Stamp That.  Her card was a friendship "hello" card. I didn't need one of those but I thought I could stand to have a wedding card in my stash.  

The flowers were done using the "Swirly Scribbles" Thinlits die and the "Flourishing Phrases" word set.  

The flowers were cut using Daffodil Delight card stock and the leaves were cut using Pear Pizzazz card stock.

I added a few more rhinestones that Becky did, but after all it was a wedding card and needed a touch more bling!!!

This was a fun card to make.  I am SO loving this Swirly Scribbles and Swirly Bird stamp set!  They sure do make for easy cards!!!

A Sliding Star and Shooting Star Bee Spinner Friendship Card

I LOVE this new spinning card die!  And of course the stamp set that goes along with it.  I had the honor of demoing the bundle on Saturday at Terri's Catalog Extravaganza.  It was such a great time.  I demoed back in February and had a great time then too.  I'm hoping to be asked again to demo.  I LOVED every minute of it!  I got to sit between two fabulous ladies, Colleen and Julie!  The day couldn't have been better!

This was one of the cards I made for the event.  I stamped the beehive using Crushed Curry card stock and ink.  There was a Framelit to cut it out for me!  All of the bees were stamped using black Memento ink.  All were cut using the coordinating Framelit dies. Had there been no die for those little bees, there would only be three on my card!!  After fussing cutting 3 I would have quit.  I could have cut hundreds with that die!  SO fun and super easy!!!

Stampin' Up! has some new fun foam tape in strip form.  It's twice the thickness of a Dimensional.  It's perfect for making these cards.  Plus it's perfect for shaker cards.  You can go around the whole circle on a shaker card without a single gap!  For this card I did have a gap on the center left and right sides.  You need to have room for the pennies to spin around.  It's not fun if they don't spin.  A little gap on the back is fine, it isn't that big, so there was still a lot of support for the weight of the pennies.  You can use washers, but sad to say, pennies were cheaper.  I just love how the bee in the circle would just spin around the area.  It's SO darn cute.

I LOVED playing with this set.  I have more cards that I will share with you soon.

An You've Got This and Flourishing Phrases Framed Art

I have not done a 3-D stamped item in a very long time.  So, I thought I would give it a try.  I had gotten some fun frames at The Dollar Store and I thought I'd have some fun.

I took a piece of decorative paper from the "Blossoms & Bliss" pack and cut it to the size of the mat that came with the frame.  I ran tape all across the back of the paper.  Then I set it on top of the mat and pressed it in place.  Then I took my craft knife and cut out the center opening.  

I took a piece of Whisper White card stock and stamped the background that comes with the  "You've Got This" set.  Then I stamped the flower and fussy cut it out.  I don't cut perfect though it looks like I do.  There is a secret to that. First of all you do need to cut as close to the edge of the lines as possible.  It always seems like there's some white showing and that's okay.  After you color in your image then you take a black marker and run it along the edges of the image.  All of those irregular cut marks just blend in.  Give it a try, you'll be amazed.

The words are from the "Flourishing Phrases" stamp set.  They just seemed to be perfect for the person I'm going to give this to.

I did have fun making this and I think I'm going to see what other stuff I have sitting in drawers in my workroom. I'm sure there's LOTS of 3-D art stuff in them!!

A Botanical Builder and Flourishing Phrases Thank You Card

Today I needed to make a thank you card.  I was hoping to find a very large worded "thank you" in my stamp sets but this was the largest one I had.  So I had to make it work.  I die cut it and also die cut the oval scallop.  I much prefer the punches over the dies for these shapes.  It takes longer to cut these out than it did to punch them. 

I had a piece of the "Blooms & Bliss" decorative paper (DSP) sitting on my worktable and I thought I should try to use it up.  God forbid I just put it away!!!  LOL

I looked on the package of the DSP and got the colors used on the paper.  The base of my card is Mint Macaron. I added a layer of Sahara Sand and then a trimmed piece of Island Indigo.  The circle/ring of Island Indigo was a left over piece from making a spinner card.  I hated to toss those out.  They are perfectly round!!!  I taped the DSP to the Island Indigo and taped that to the Sahara Sand and then taped that to the Mint Macaron card base.  Then I took Dimensionals and added them to the back of the ring.  I set the ring in place and then embellished it with the "Botanical Builder' flower and some leaves I had in my stash from the "Rose Garden Thinlits" set.

I set the flower in place using a pop up glue dot.  I'm running low on Dimensionals.  UGH!  The words are from the "Flourishing Phrases" set and I set them in place using Dimensionals.  

This was a fun card to make and I think my friend is going to like it!

A March 2016 Paper Pumpkin Petite Pairs Birthday Card

As I was looking around my workroom I ran across some scraps and images just sitting there.  I'm pretty sure they were sitting out because I didn't want to take the time to put them away.  But as I was looking at them today, I thought I could take the stamped flower I found along with the two pieces of decorative paper and whip up a card.  

I used Island Indigo for the base of the card and for the layers.

The words are from the "Petite Pairs" set.  I used the oval and scalloped oval thinlits.  Or are they framelits?  I don't know what the difference is between the two.

I set the flower and the words in place using Dimensionals.

It was a super quick card to make.  My July Paper Pumpkin is on it's way.  I need to play with my June one!!  I have several Paper Pumpkin posts, you can see the others here.

A Swirly Bird and Swirly Thinlits Anniversary Card

I found this fun card while surfing the net.  I thought it was SO pretty and I just had to have a copy of it!!  I did change it a little but I like them both. The original card was made by Ingrid at Stamp-ing.  You can see her card here.

I thought it was a lot of work. There is a lot of stamping and a lot of die cutting.  The background on the larger flowers was fussy cut. Not one of my favorite things to do anymore.  

After they were fussy cut I cut the center  pieces, colored them with the "Wink of Stella" and set them in place with white glue.  The colors of those flowers are Daffodil Delight, Soft Sky and Blush Blossom.

Next I stamped and die cut the other flowers and leaves.  The smallest flowers are stamped using Daffodil Delight and the other little larger flowers were stamped using Rose Red. The leaves were stamped using Pear Pizzazz and the veins in the leaves were stamped using Wild Wasabi.

The words are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set. And the "Falling Snow" embossing folder was used for the top layer background.  For the base of the card I used Soft Sky ink and the larger flower image. 

All the flowers were set in place using Dimensionals.  Lots of Dimensionals are used on this card! One all the flowers were added then some tiny pearls were set in the centers of each.

This card was easy enough to do but it did take a little while to make.  I would probably make another one because I do like how it looks.

A Gift of Love Thank You Card

Today I wanted to play withe the "Gift of Love" stamp set.  I got it but have not played with it at all.  I think it may be because I have a lot of other sets I'm playing with and also because I didn't think it was challenging enough for me.  This is a two step stamping set.  You stamp the flower outline image and then you stamp the flowers with one color and the leaves with another.  Or would that be 3 step???  I think the next time I use this set I may just color in the image to get a nicer light and dark contrast using the blender pen.  I did find it helpful to set the flower stamp on top of the stamped flowers to line it up better, but I still missed the mark!  I did a little better with the leaves.  It's a pretty image but like I said, I'm going to try my hand with coloring it in next time.

I chose this Sweet Sugarplum color card stock because there was a piece of the "Bloom & Bliss" decorative paper sitting by my cutter.  I was too lazy to put it away, so why not use it!!!  

The words are also from this set  I didn't really like how high I had to place them, but I didn't want to cut off the flower.  I should have, I think it would have looked better.  Dooley noted!

It was a fun card to make though.

A Botanical Builders and Gift of Love Diagonal Slit Technique Thank You Card

Today's thank you card is also another fun technique.  I used the "Botanical Builders for the flowers and one of the leaves. I used the "Flourish" framelits for the top two flowery leaves. I used the largest one in the set and I cut off what I wanted to use.  I set the flowers in place using pop up glue dots.  I set the leaves in place using mini glue dots.  I added pearls to the center of each flower and also to the top two green leaves where there's round circles.  You will need to click on the photo to see a closer view, then you'll see those tiny pearls.

To do this fun technique you will need a card base.  I used Rich Razzleberry, an 8-1/2" x 11" piece, folded in half.  Then I cut a piece of Whisper White 4" x 5-1/4".  I cut a piece of decorative paper from the "Blooms and Bliss" Decorative Series Paper (DSP) pack.  I cut the DSP on the right side about 1-1/4" the way down from the top and across to the left side about 1-1/4" the way up from the bottom.  Tape the DSP to the Whisper White card stock on the top and the bottom. This leaves a slit in the card for your words.

The words came from the "Gift of Love" hostess set.  I love how this technique looks.  It opens up to a lot of fun future cards!!

A Swirly Bird and Teeny Tiny Wishes Retirement Card

Today I thought a fun summery card would be fun to make. And as you can see from yesterday's card that I have not put away the "Swirly Bird" stamp set yet.  If you saw my worktable you would see that I have not put a lot of stamp sets away!!! LOL  I don't do it until I have no more room to work or if I have people coming over!!!  I'm SO bad.

I was just thinking how fast summer seems to fly by after the 4th of July.  I thought I would make some more summer colored cards.  You can take a flower card and make it into any season by the colors you use.  Sail boats don't usually float around my neck of the woods in the winter. So I thought I should give it another try and this is what I came up with.

I also thought it would be fun to play with that wavy die too!! I want to see what else I can do with it. I'm sure there's more to it than just waves. I have to give it more thought (while it sits on my worktable!!!)  LOL

For the sun I used Crushed Curry ink and card stock.

The boat was stamped using Dapper Denim, Pool Party, and Marina Mist (stamped off once with that color only).  I used Real Red for the flag.  I suppose I could have stamped the flag along with the sail boat but I didn't, I did it separate and then cut it out separate.  

The wavy things were cut out using the framelit and Pool Party card stock.  To affix it I just put some white glue down on a piece of waxed paper and smeared it with my finger so I had a nice even layer. Then I set the wave thing on top to collect some glue.  And I set it in place on the card stock.  I don't have a fine tip glue pen and I think that even if I did, the glue on the waxed paper was SO much quicker and easier. It didn't make a mess. I just rolled up the piece of waxed paper and tossed it away. As simple as that!

I layered the card front on a folded half sheet of Marina Mist.  The more I look at it, the more I think the Dapper Denim would have been a better choice.  But it looks okay as it is.   

I was going to make it a masculine birthday card but I opted for a retirement card instead.  I used the words from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  Now I have one if I need one.  Though that doesn't usually fly with me.  I tend to make a fresh card when I need one, no matter what's in my stash!  Silly, I know!!

A Swirly Bird Sliding Star Birthday Card

Today I was playing around with the "Sliding Star" Framelits. I saw how someone had used the boat from the "Swirly Bird" set and the spinner circle, so I thought I would give that a try.

I used some decorative paper from the 6" x 6" "Serene Scenery" stack.  I LOVE those stacks.  You get a lot of paper for your money.  What I found fun and nice about this stack is, on one side there's scenery and other photographed images and on the other side you have dots and circles in various colors.  So if you don't want or like an image, the other side will probably be something you will like.  I know it's like that for me.  I think this is one of the best packs so far.

Okay, for my card I used the new Dapper Denim for the base of this card.  Then I took a piece from the "Serene Scenery" pack and cut it 4" x 5-1/4".  I also cut a piece of Whisper White card stock and cut it the same.  I taped those two layers together. I wanted that front panel to be very firm.  

Next I took the round spinner framelit and set it in place on top of the decorative paper piece.  I ran it through my Big Shot.  It sure beats using two circle dies!  I LOVE this!!!  Anyway, you keep the center circle and the largest piece (of course) and that ring you can recycle or save. I saved mine because I think I came up with a use for it that I will share with you on another post.

To assemble this you do need to purchase the "Foam Adhesive Strips".  Or you can use Dimensionals, but you have to double stack them, this foam tape is the thickness of two Dimensionals.  You need this kind of depth for the spinner to spin.

You do need to take a Dimensional and trim it up so it's round. If you leave it as it is your spinning image won't spin, it will kind of clunk along.  Once it's trimmed, sandwich it evenly between two pennies.

Take another Dimensional and add your image.  Once your tape or Dimensionals are on the back side of the front panel, set it in place.  Then you will need to do the same with the center circle. It needs either double Dimensionals or pieces of the Foam Adhesive Strips.  Then you slip the penny between the two edges and it's ready to go.  Oh, when adding the tape to the back, make sure there's room for the penny to slide by or it will stop there.  

The words are from the "Guy Greetings" set.  And that was it.  This is a very fun set to play with.  I LOVE interactive cards.  I had to watch it spin after I put it together, and I don't mean just a test spin, I was playing with it for a little while!!! LOL

A Made with Love Baby Card and the Drapery Fold Technique

This card was made by Julie from the Technique Tuesday group that Terri has once a month.  I love that little deer.  I think it would be fun to play with that image at Christmas time too!!! 

The Drapery Fold technique is fun and easy.  It works best with double sided paper.

A Blossoms and Bliss Birthday Card

Today's card is from Terri's last Stamp a Stack.  I just love the "Blossoms and Bliss" decorative paper.  You don't need to add a whole lot to the card when you use this beautiful paper.  

This card also has a little different opening.  If you click on the photo you can see that the card front doesn't go all the way to the right.  Just past the Rich Razzleberry border under the "Blossoms and Bliss" decorative paper is the cut off.  

The words (which I don't know what set they come from) were stamped and then punched out.  Then they were set in place on a piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock with a piece of Sweet Sugarplum ribbon.

This was a fun and easy card to make.  I love the uniqueness of the "fold" here.

A One Wild Ride Masculine Birthday Card

Today's card comes to you via Terri's Stamp a Stack event.  

This was a fun card to make because it's got a unique fold.  The front panel is cut 8-1/2" x 3" using Smoky Slate card stock.  Then it was stamped using black Memento ink and the "Hardwood" background stamp. That piece was then folded in half and taped on the back side of the Smoky Slate 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" piece of card stock. A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White was added to the inside for more sentiment.  

The motor cycle was stamped using black Memento ink on Whisper White card stock that was cut 4" x 2-1/2".  It was layered on a piece of Smoky Slate that was cut 4-1/4" x 2-3/4".  

Just a little note here on taping the front panel to the card.  Only tape the left half or you will tape your card shut!!  Been there, done that!!  More than once!!! LOL Even after I've reminded myself NOT to do it!!!

This was a fun and simple card with a different fold! And it's quick too.  Under 20 minutes.  I have over 1,000 cards on my blog that you can make under 20 minutes.  Click here to be directed to those cards!

A Swirly Bird and Swirly Scribbles Birthday Card

While surfing the net I found this card made by Val at Stamping with Val.  I thought it was such a sweet and cute card.  

It was easy to make.  I just die cut the black circle piece.  I cut 3 small flowers and 3 larger flowers.  The large ones were stamped using Peekaboo Peach and the small ones were Calypso Coral.  The leaves were stamped using Pear Pizzazz. I LOVE the matching dies.  It makes cutting out these pieces, especially the smaller ones, SO much easier and quicker.

The words are from the "Designer Tin of Cards".  I masked off the  "To one fantastic person", I only wanted the "Happy Birthday" part.  

I set some of the flowers in place with Dimensionals.  I set all of the leaves in place using Dimensionals.  The smaller flowers I used glue dots to set them in place.

This was a fun and easy card to make!

An Irresistibly Floral Birthday Card

Being it's a holiday weekend I am figuring that not too many people will be online today.  But I still decided to post anyway!  

Today's card is from Terri's last fun Stamp-a-Stack.  What is so fun about this card is that the flowered background paper is really all white with the flowers embossed.  We took a sponge and the Mint Macaron ink and colored in the paper and it revealed the pretty flowers!! How fun is that?? What's also great about that is, you can have coordinating decorative paper for any of your colored card stocks (well, as long as you have the matching ink, that is!).  

The words are from the "Flourishing Phrases".  I think it's a "must have" set!  It's got lots of fun wording. As I'm looking at the set, I am not seeing these words in it.  I looked through the catalog and through the stamp sets that I own and I am not seeing this set.  Though I am sure I passed it up (several times) in the catalog.  So, if you know what set the words are from, please let me know so I can include them in this post for those who wish to copy this card.

First we punched the card stock with the "Scallop Tag Topper" punch and then we stamped the words.  We used the 3/8" Mint Macaron linen ribbon. (Fold it in half and insert the folded end from the front to the back!! - that was mostly written for my friend Peggy!!!).  The tag was set in place using Dimensionals.

A Stylized Birthday Shaker Card Technique

Today's card is one of the Techniques that Terri showed us in July.  This is the "Shaker Card" technique.  

These are very simple to make.  Stampin' Up! has these wonderful foam strips that you can bend into a full circle.  It was super fun to do.  We were shown how to use the Stampin' Buddy to make the inside edges not sticky.  Just run it around the edges.  But you will want to save that circle you punched out of card stock to set on top of the window sheet to keep that powdery stuff from getting on the window.  It's okay if it gets on the window but you have to clean it off so the window is clear.  So it's easier just to drop that punched out piece in the opening, use the Stampin' Buddy and then take the circle out.  As simple as that!!!

To make a shaker card you decorate your card front.  Then punch a circle (or whatever shape you want) on the front. Then you add a piece of Window Sheet that is larger than the opening.  Then you stamp a piece of card stock that goes behind the window.  I piled up my "confetti" and moved it towards the center of the word piece. Make sure your words are towards the top or they will be covered up by the confetti.  Center the words and set the card front in place.  Then use Dimensionals to set the card front on top of your card base.  You will want to double stack the Dimensionals because of the thickness of the foam strip is the equivalence to the thickness of one Dimensional.  If you don't double up, your card front will be droopy on the edges.  

I have not made a shaker card in a long time.  I forgot how fun they are to make, plus I learned about the Stampin' Buddy tip to make the inside not sticky so nothing is stuck around the inside where you don't want it.  Once you stick it, it's on and there's no going back!!

The words here are from the "Stylized Birthday" stamp.  I LOVE a large "Happy Birthday"!!!

A Designer Tin of Cards and Flourish Thinlits Anniversary Card

It is official.  I am crazy.  I don't know why I thought this would be fun!!!  The mind said, "cut this die out of black." So I did.  Then it said, "wouldn't it be fun to add colored card stock to the flowers and leaves?"  I thought it would be pretty but I didn't agree on the fun part!!! LOL  I did cut the flowers out using Blushing Bride card stock and I cut the leaves using Pear Pizzazz card stock.  The trick was to try to keep all of the pieces together so you can pick them out individually and set the colored ones inside the black ones.  I didn't lose a piece!!!  I did cut mine with waxed paper between the die and the card stock so the pieces stuck together for me.  Once I finished a leaf, I put some white glue on the back to hold the pieces in.  I did that with the rest until I had all the leaves and the two flowers filled. I then walked away from it all for a while.  I needed a break.  And once again saying to myself, "What were you thinking?"  But I do have to admit, I do like how it looks. It's like a stained glass flower.  And the funniest thing is, it looks exactly how I imagined it in my head.  That doesn't happen very often!!!  

I glued the flower in place and added some pearls to give it a little dimension.  I set it in place using Dimensionals.

The words are from the "Designer Tin of Cards" stamp set.  That set has a lot of fun wording in it.  I added 3 pearls and set it in place using Dimensionals on the right half of the circle and double sided tape on the left half.  That was it.  Would I do it again?  Probably not, but I'm not going to say never because I do like how it turned out!!!

A Flourish Thinlits and Teeny Tiny Wishes Anniversary Card

The "Flourish" Thinlits were still sitting on my worktable.  Imagine that!!!  I never put anything away until I absolutely HAVE to.  I hate cleaning up. The minute I do, I either need the item or I can't remember where I put it!  Okay, with thoughts of my messy table aside, let's talk about this card I made today.

I used Whisper White for the base of the card. Then I added a layer of Pink Pirouette. On top of that is a layer of Whisper White.  I die cut a bunch of pieces from the "Flourish" Thinlits and placed them on the card stock.  I didn't have the really nice and handy fine tip glue pen, so I took some waxed paper and spread some white glue on it.  I set the cut item on top and then removed it.  There was just enough glue on it to stick it to the card stock.  When I got done placing everything I didn't like how flat it looked, so I cut out another large flower and set it on top of the existing one using a trimmed Dimensional.  I had to trim it because it was too big for the flower center. I didn't want it showing through.  

I stamped the words from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes"  using Memento black ink.  Then I added pearls.

It's a simple card to make, though I didn't care much for all the gluing!!  This card took around 20 minutes to make.  I have quite a few of 20 minutes or less cards on my blog.  Click here to see them.
