An In the Meadow Masculine Birthday Card

Since I didn't have any of the new decorative papers (yet), I thought I would dig out my 12" x 12" paper stacks.  I have LOTS of sheets waiting to be used in them. 

The base of my card is Always Artichoke.  A color I didn't use much while the Mossy Meadow was around.  On top of that I cut a piece of the Pear Pizzazz decorative paper.  

The center strip is a piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock cut 1-1/2" x 5-1/4" with an Always Artichoke layer cut 1-3/4" x 5-1/4". I was going to stamp the card stock using Pear Pizzazz but the Always Artichoke was open and I forgot where I was going with that panel.  I stamped the tree tops from the "In the Meadow" set.  

I stamped the deers using Always Artichoke ink.  The words are from the "Wetlands" set.  I set the deers and words in place using Dimensionals.  And that was it.  Another super simple and quick card to make.

A Love You Lots Botanical Builders and May 2016 Paper Pumpkin Birthday Card

Today I thought I would play with the frog image from the "Love You Lots" Hostess set.  I thought I would make it into a children's birthday card.  The "Love You Lots" set didn't have happy birthday words so I took them from the May 2016 Paper Pumpkin set.  I have not put my Paper Pumpkin kit together yet.  I may do that tomorrow night.  I have a very long list of things I need to get done and that one isn't high on my list.  

Okay, let's talk about this card.  It was SUPER easy to make. I used the new Emerald Envy card stock and ink pad.  I stamped the frog and colored it in using the Emerald Envy ink pad and a Blender Pen.  I used Peekaboo Peach and a Blender Pen for the eyes.  I put the words together on an acrylic block and stamped them both at the same time.  The Paper Pumpkin kit has lots of words with it and you can mix and match.  I like it that I can put the Happy Birthday on one line if I want. And I probably will on a card some other time.  

The base of my card is a folded half sheet of Emerald Envy.  I used a quarter piece of the card stock for the layer behind the frog layer and for the leaf.  I stamped the veins of the leaf using Emerald Envy and then used the Framelit to cut it out.  I thought it would pass for a lily pad.  It works if you cross your eyes and quickly look away!!! LOL  It's a kids card. I really don't think a little kid is going to call me out for a faux pas on the lily pad!!! LOL

I set the frog layer in place using Dimensionals.  I set the leaf behind it.  I used the large Polka Dot folder for the background on the Whisper White piece.  There's not a whole lot to this card.  It was fun and easy to make!!

A Papillon Potpourri and Timeless Treasures Birthday Card

Today I'm saying goodbye to the Blackberry Bliss color.  It's one I did not use much in that in-color group.  Lost Lagoon was my favorite and most used color. 

I am mixing old, new and retiring here.  The butterflies are from the "Papillon Potpourri" stamp set and the lacy looking background is from the new "Timeless Textures."  I stamped the lacy looking images by stamping off once and then onto the card stock.  I wanted some light contrast as Blackberry Bliss is such a dark color.

The words are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set, a set I have used A LOT!!!  I'm so glad it's not retiring.

This was a super easy card to make.  I just layered the butterflies and set them in place using Dimensionals.  I added a rhinestone to the head of each butterfly to give it a little bit of sparkle.  And that was it!

A Love You Lots and In the Meadow Love and Anniversary Card

I got to play with a new stamp set!!!  I was thrilled to have that opportunity.  I stamped a couple of images so I could play with them when I had time.  I picked the ladybugs to make this card.  I also played with the new Flirty Flamingo color too!!

This is one of my most favorite layouts for small images.  See how it focuses on the ladybugs and you really don't notice how small they are after all!  

It's a fun layout to play with and it's not that difficult to do either.  I have used it a lot on my blog over the years.  

The base of my card is Pirouette Pink. I chose that color because I don't have any of the new in color papers, they will be available in a few days.  SO I had to play with what I had. Fortunately the 12" x 12" decorative paper stacks didn't change in design so they are current.  I used the polka dot paper.  Behind that I used a piece of the Flirty Flamingo.  Then a piece of Whisper White and that was taped to the card base.  

The words are from the "In the Meadow" set.  I thought they fit well with the card.  The "Love You Lots" set has words with it but I liked these better.

A Petite Pairs and Botanical Builders Birthday Card

I'm still loving the "Botanical Builders" Framelit dies.  I play with them more than I do the coordinating stamp set.  Personally I think I could have done without the stamp set, I rarely use it. I suppose, since I do own it, I should challenge myself to use it more.  

For today's card I had some scraps from the "Love Blossoms" 6" x 6" decorative paper stack. I SO love those stacks.  I measured my pieces and then cut the Real Red layers accordingly.

I made the flower using Blushing Bride card stock. The center of the flower is Real Red with a "White Perfect Accents" dot in the middle.  Those dots are so fun to play with and you can color them with a Sharpie marker.  

The words are from the "Petite Pairs" set.  I punched them out using the oval punch and the oval scalloped punch.  

The squares were taped together and then set in place using Dimensionals.  The words and the flower were set in place using Dimensionals as well.  I sure do go through a lot of Dimensionals!!!  

It was a fun card to make and it's always nice to use up those small pieces of decorative papers.

A By the Tide Work of Art and Guy Greetings Father's Day Card

I found a fun card on Split Coast Stampers that used the fish from "By the Tide" and the arch/brush stroke image from "Work of Art" It was made by Janet. I went to her website to try to find the card but I had no luck.  There was no direct link to it and she didn't list how the card was made.  SO I was on my own.  You can see her card here, it is very soft and subtle looking.  I really liked it but I was unable to find how she got her background colors. 

In light of that, I will share with you how I made mine.  First I took Pacific Point and inked up the "Work of Art" image.  I stamped it once at the top and I repeated stamping it 2 more times without inking it up again.  Then I took Old Olive and I stamped it just below the Pacific Point and stamped 3 (yes 3) more times without inking it up again.  Then I took Marina Mist and stamped just under the Old Olive, again stamping 2 more times.  And lastly I used So Saffron.  I stamped it over the Old Olive and I stamped it a total of 4 times.  One thing nice about doing this is, if there is a spot you don't like much or it has an open space to it, you can always fill it in with one of the colors that has been stamped off one to three times!  Stamp the fish using black ink and it's ready to trim and layer.

Now for the card itself.  I used Whisper White for the base of my card.  Then I added a piece of Marina Mist that I textured using the "Softly Falling" embossing folder.  Then I trimmed up the fish image and sponged the edges with Pacific Point ink. I layered it with Pacific Point card stock.

The words are from the "Guy Greetings" set. I sponged the edges and then layered it with Pacific Point card stock.  I set the fish layer in place using Dimensionals.  For the word layer I used Dimensionals on the bottom and left side and taped the top and right side to the fish layer.  And that was it.  It's pretty simple to do, though I do with I knew what colors were used in the one that inspired me.  But it's okay, I have this card with murkier water!!! LOL

A Timeless Textures and Happy Birthday Everyone Birthday Card

Playing with the "Timeless Textures" stamp set that I just HAD to have but haven't touched much at all. Actually, I made the mistake (as usual) of ordering too many stamp sets and then not playing with them all equally.  I tend to latch on to a few that I find really fun or easy to play with and the next thing I know I run across a set that I forgot I had.

I am going to miss the "Happy Birthday, Everyone" set.  I LOVED that huge happy birthday.  It filled up the front of a card nicely. But I'm sure I will find something else to replace it.  I stamped mine using Tempting Turquoise and layered it with Tempting Turquoise card stock.  The background was done using the "Timeless textures" set.  There's 9 fun elements in that set to play with. It was fun stamped them where ever I wanted.  I used Crumb Cake for some of the elements oh and there's a splash of Calypso Coral on there too.

It was a super fun card to make.  I like these colors together.

A Timeless Textures and Teeny Tiny Wishes Monochromatic Card

I really wanted to make this into a birthday card but I couldn't find the stamp.  It must have gotten out and is hiding somewhere in my workroom. It will show up, they always do! So I decided I would make this into a pretty Mother's Day card instead. I do want to make another one when I find the birthday image.

For this card I used the last piece of Lost Lagoon I have. I think it's the last piece anyway.  I thought I had said that once before and a couple of pieces showed up. I do have a full package but I don't want to open it.  I will sell it after it retires.  

So, let's talk about this card.  I used Whisper White and Lost Lagoon. I have not made a Monochromatic card in a while.  

I used 4 of the images from the "Timeless Textures" set.  There's 9 images in the set all together. There was one more I wanted to use but I refrained.  I didn't want the card to look too cluttered.  

I die cut the flower using the Botanical Builder Framelits.  I cut it from the Lost Lagoon layer.  I cut it from about the spot where the flower set.  It doesn't matter where it's cut from, it shouldn't show through the Whisper White card stock.  I set the flower in place with a Dimensional and used a small glue dot to set the flower center in place.  

The words are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  I normally use the Word Window punch, but it's retiring so I thought I would try to imitate the new punch that replaced it.  I trimmed the ends so they were pointed like in the book.  I do like the punch and it's a must for the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  

Oh and the center of the flower is a retiring candy dot.  I didn't have one in Lost Lagoon so I used a Bermuda Bay one.  Shhhh, don't tell anyone!!!  It blended in well and only those who read this will know it doesn't match exactly.  It's VERY difficult to tell that it is not Lost Lagoon.  

It was a pretty simple and quick card to make!  I do like how it turned out.

An In the Meadow and You've Got This Masculine Birthday Card

Oh my goodness. My coloring on the deer is just horrible.  As the ink dried the image got worse.  A big ISH on this card. Maybe a little Garden Green sponged on the leaf area of the tree might help.  Well, it won't help the deer but it will take your eyes away from it for a moment!! LOL

I liked the concept here, I just wish it would have turned out better.  I may add the Garden Green, but what I'd really like to do is redo the whole card.

Let's pretend it's nice!!!  LOL  To make this card you will need the background image from the "You've Got This" set. I stamped off twice and it was still to dark. Next I cut out a mask for the deer.  I stamped the deer and then set the mask on top.  I stamped the trees and the words (from the "Wetlands" set).  I colored in the deer using a blender pen and Soft Suede ink.  I didn't realize how much red was in that ink.

The deer could have been a softer color too.  Oh well, what's done is done and like I've said before, they all can't be winners.  And lucky you, I share the good, the bad, and the ugly with you!!! LOL

An English Garden and Paper Pumpkin Birthday Card

I thought I would try to use up some of my Designer Series Paper (DSP) before it retires at the end of the month. With the size piece here, it will take me until 2020 to finish up the pack I have!!!  Why do I do this? I have great intentions of using the DSP and I end up using a very small piece to make my card.  UGH!!!  LOL

Okay, onto this card.  It's a very quick and simple card to make.  I cut my DSP 2" x 4-1/4".  I cut the Cherry Cobbler layer 2-1/4" x 4-1/2".  I textured the Pink Pirouette using the "Falling Snow" (I think that's the name, or is it "Softly Falling"?) embossing folder.  

I stamped the words from the May 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit. I used the 3 in 1 ribbon punch on the end and then I trimmed the other end.  I repeated that for the Cherry Cobbler layer but I made the strip 1/4" wider.  I had a long strip so I trimmed it after I taped the white piece in place.  I set the words on using Dimensionals and that was it.  Super easy, and super quick!

A Garden in Bloom Birthday Card

The "Garden in Bloom" card is one I don't play with much at all. I may have when I first bought it, I don't remember.  But if I did, I probably played it to death!! I'm SO guilty of doing that with a stamp set.  At times it feels like it's the only set I own!  So, the other day I was looking through my stamp sets and I saw the "Garden in Bloom" and grabbed it off the shelf. I searched the net for a fun sample to either inspire me or to copy.  I ended up with the copy, I wasn't feeling very creative.

I don't remember where I found this card.  My computer had to do and update right in the middle of everything and the window I had open with the original card got closed and I wasn't able to find it.  So, if you know who make a card very similar to this one, please let me know so I can give them the credit they are due and a link back to their blog.

The original card had those tiny little flowers stamped in Melon Mambo, the same color as the larger flower.  I used Tempting Turquoise to color mine.  I thought the card, as pretty as it was, needed a little more color.  I do like that blue popping out from the banner (which we'll talk about later).  The flower was fussy cut and set in place using a Dimensional.  Oh, and then all of a sudden it clicked!!!  That is why I don't use the set much.  Fussy cutting. I'm SO spoiled by punches and dies that when it comes to fussy cutting I tend to bypass a set.  It really depends on the mood I'm in or the time I have to make and post the card.  I also fussy cut the two leaves that were stamped using Pear Pizzazz.

The base of the card is a folded half sheet of Melon Mambo.  The words are from the April 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit.

Now lets talk about that banner.  UGH!!!  Is there a formula for figuring out how long to cut the card stock on those pieces before they are punched?  What I ended up doing, after ruining 2 of them was I punched one end.  Then I took the piece that was punched out and set it on the other end of the strip and I set the whole thing on top of the card so I knew how much I needed to slide the piece to get my desired length.  I did the same with the black border.  

I was in the mood for fussy cutting, only because there wasn't a lot of pieces to cut and there was something interesting on the tv!  I did like making the card and I do like how it turned out.

A Guy Greetings Masculine Birthday Card with the Z Fold Swinging Technique

I do like playing with this "Z Fold Swinging" technique.  It's very easy to do and fun.  There's other ways you can dress it up too.  I could have added another matching sized rectangle onto the inside strip so when the card closed you couldn't tell it was there.  Once opened it would reveal words or some handwritten sentiment.  But I didn't.  I stuck to the simpler look.  I will have to give that a try sometime and show you.

You can find the instructions for this fun technique here.  I have made several of them on my site so far.  I just think they are a fun and different way to give a card.  Traditional folds are okay, but once in a while you do need to try something new!!  And if you don't like it, well, at least you know you tried!

For my card I used the "Guy Greetings" for the car and the words.  I stamped them in Early Espresso so they blended better with the striped paper.  The papers here are from the "Going Places" 6" x 6" paper stack.  That stack was a lot of fun and it has great masculine images in it. Too bad it's retiring at the end of the month.  I'm hoping for a new and fun masculine paper stack. What I like about the stacks the most is, I get a lot of paper that is cut to a size that I like better. Easy to trim up and a nice variety to play with.  

This was a fun card to make.  Give this technique a try if you have not tried it yet.  You'll see how easy it is to do.

An In the Meadow Masculine and Guy Greeting Card

Today I wanted to make another masculine card but I didn't want to use the "Guy Greetings" images again.  Though I did use the "Dad" word stamp from that set.  So with not wanting to use those images in mind, I had to go to my stamp sets and see what I had available to use.  I found "In the Meadow."  Yet another set I have not used much.  

This card has a number of layers but it wasn't difficult to make.  

For the base of my card I used Crumb Cake.  Crumb Cake ink was also used.  Then the next layer is Bermuda Bay.  On top of that is Lost Lagoon and then the Whisper White piece with the stars embossed on it.

The smaller layer is a piece of dotted decorative paper in Bermuda Bay.  I really wanted the other side of that paper but by the time I had remembered that, I had tape all over it.  So it's polka dotted! I taped it in place on top of the starred paper.

Then I stamped the deer and trimmed the image.  I cut a layer of Crumb Cake for it.  I set that layer in place using Dimensionals.  

The "Dad" was stamped using Crumb Cake, punched out with the 3/4" circle punch and then the Crumb Cake card stock was cut out with the 1" circle punch.  It was taped in place.  And that was it.  Super easy, just a lot of layers.  And I do LOVE layers on my cards!!!

A Garden in Bloom and May 2016 Paper Pumpkin Birthday Card

 I was surfing the net to see what fun card using the "Garden in Bloom" stamp set. I have not played with this set much so I thought I would go hunting for something fun to make using it.  I ran across this card made by Andrea at Snippets. It was a quick and easy card to make.  Andrea had added pearls between the butterflies and I was going to do that but I forgot.  I will be doing that after I post here.

For my card I used the same colors for the butterflies as Andrea did.  They are Hello Honey, Calypso Coral, and Marina Mist.  I stamped the outline and words in Basic Black.  

The words are from the May Paper Pumpkin kit.  I was trying to go through my stamp sets to find a nice happy birthday that was on one line.  

The little heart is from the same Paper Pumpkin kit.  I used Calypso Coral to stamp it.  I added it because I didn't get the words centered.  It was a great way to balance it all out!!

A Guy Greetings Dad Birthday Card

On the piece of card stock I ran across yesterday that had the card on actually had two of them stamped on it.  I debated whether to make another masculine card or put it aside and make something different.  Well, putting it aside is what gets me in trouble in my workroom.  I have piles of stuff that has been put aside.  So I thought I would use this and there'd be one less thing to deal with in the pile!

The card was stamped using the "Guy Greetings" set.  It's such a fun set, not only because it has some nice guy images in it, but it's also got LOTS of words, dad, grandpa, uncle,  and brother. There's Father's Day, Congratulations, and Happy Birthday.   Plus there's several more.  It's  a great masculine set for the money!  I have used it often.  And I've used the words from this set on other masculine cards.  

This card was simple to make.  I trimmed the car to 2-1/4" x 2-1/4".  Then I cut a piece of Soft Suede to 2-1/2" x 2-1/2".  I cut a piece of the "English Garden" decorative paper to 2-1/2" x 3-3/4" and the Soft Suede layer was trimmed to 2-3/4" x 4".

I stamped "Dad" and punched it out using the 3/4" circle punch.  Then I punched out a 1" circle of Soft Suede.  I set the car and the words in place using Dimensionals.  Shhhh, don't tell everyone how quick and simple this card was to make!!

This set will allow you to have fun with the masculine cards you need to make.

A Guy Greetings Birthday Card

I never seem to have enough masculine cards.  Today I ran across this car that I had stamped a while ago and I thought I would put it together with some paper and card stock and see what I get.

I found the decorative papers in the "Going Places" paper stack.  It was a fun stack and is retiring at the end of the month. So may pages left, so little time!!!

The base of my card is Soft Suede.  I layered the image with Mossy Meadow and Soft Suede.  I originally had it layered in Mossy Meadow but it blended in with the background too much so I needed to add a little more contrast.  

The map was also layered the same way as the car.  

I set the car in place using Dimensionals and that was it. Super easy and very quick to make!  And I have a masculine birthday card to add to my little stash!!!

A Timeless Textures Botanical Builders and Rose Wonder Birthday Card

Today I was surfing the net for a fun card to make using the "Timeless Textures" set. I saw one a while back which impelled me to buy the set but I didn't save the image, so I had to go surfing.  This little gem by Kelly from "My Papercraft Journey" caught my eye and I thought I'd give it a try. It looked simple enough to get my feet wet with this set.  It has an elegant look to it that I often like to see in cards.

To make this card I used Tip Top Taupe for the base of the card. Than a trimmed quarter sheet of Mint Macaron.  On top of that is the Whisper White. 

On the Whisper White layer I stamped the dotted bar image first.  Then the leafy looking one, both using Mint Macaron ink.  

The words I used are from the "Rose Wonder" set.  I don't know what set teh words that Kelly used are from, she didn't list it and I didn't have it.  

The flower was made using the "Botanical Builders" Framelits. I set it in place using a Dimensional. A glue dot holds the center piece of the flower in place and I added a pearl to mine.

This card went together very quickly and even though it's not the same as Kelly's card, I do like how it turned out.  This card could be used for a number of occasions other than birthdays, like sympathy, thinking of you, friendship, and Mother's Day.

March Paper Pumpkin Birthday Card

The March 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit came with the fun "Happy Birthday" words that you see here.  It also came with the balloon image you see in the circle.  Oh and don't forget about that cute little flower image that was used on the background!

The piece where the Happy Birthday was stamped comes the way you see it.  I added a piece of decorative paper to the left for some balance to the card.  It needed something darker and that did the job.

I have not played much with my April Paper Pumpkin.  It was a wreath.  I don't do wreaths so I probably won't be putting that one together but I think I can use those leaves from the wreath on other cards.  Plus that kit came with some pretty fun images to play with.  I did make one card with it so far. You can see that card here.  I just got notice that the May kit is on it's way!!  I look forward to them! If I don't like the project (which isn't very often), I can always do something else with the things in the kit.  And if I don't feel creative, I surf the net to see what other people have done with their kits or the left over items from their kits.

A Happy Birthday Everyone Botanical Builder Birthday Bouquet Birthday Card

Here's a super quick card to make. You can use up your fun pieces of scrap decorative paper. My decorative paper is from the "Birthday Bouquet" pack.

Once again I am using the "Happy Birthday, Everyone" set.  I just love how quickly you can whip up a card with those big letters.  

This was an easy card to make too.  A couple of layers, very little stamping, and a piece of scrap decorative paper.  It doesn't get much simpler than that!  I think it would be a little bit prettier if the base of the card would have been Mossy Meadow instead of just the Whisper White.  It would still be quick and easy!!

March Paper Pumpkin and Happy Birthday Everyone Birthday Card

I still have pieces and parts left over from my March Paper Pumpkin kit.  I want to try to use them all up.  An empty box would be wonderful and it would be a first!!! That set did have a graduation sentiment in it.  I should make a graduation card.  I don't buy graduation sets because it's not one that is in great demand in my life, so I spend my money on sets that I would get more use out of.

Anyway, back to my card.  Those strips in the background were for a belly band but I cut them into pieces and taped them to the card.

I stamped the words using Bermuda Bay ink.  The words are from the "Happy Birthday, Everyone" set.  It will be retiring at the end of them month.  I will probably be selling it in my web store.  I need to get rid of a ton of stamp sets.  I need to make room for the current ones plus room for some new ones.  It's a madhouse here!!! LOL

The kit included that little circle.  It was a sticky circle.  I stamped the little flower image and added three of the green pearls that came in the kit.  I have a few of them to use up too.

I think it turned out well.  I do like the 3 strips in the background!!  I have more!!!  You've been warned!! LOL

A Happy Birthday Everyone Botanical Builder Birthday Bouquet Birthday Card

Lots of fun products used here on this card. I used Mossy Meadow for the base of the card and for the layer.

I used a piece of "Birthday Bouquet" decorative paper cut 4" x 5-1/4".

I stamped the happy birthday from the "Happy Birthday, Everyone" Host set.  It expires at the end of the month.  I LOVE the larger words because I can use a piece of background paper and just the words with a little embellishment and it's a finished card.  I am hoping for a new large Happy Birthday in the next catalog!

I die cut the flower using Lost Lagoon, a Wild Wasabi leaf, and a Daffodil Delight flower center.  I added a Blushing Bride candy dot to the center of the flower and the card was done!  It has a few elements to it but it went together quickly and was easy to make too!

The only thing here not retiring is the Botanical Builder, Wild Wasabi card stock, and Daffodil Delight card stock.

A Z-Fold Swinging Technique Guy Greetings Masculine Birthday Card

Today I finished up the cards for Terri's Tuesday Technique group.  Last month she showed everyone how to do this technique and this month we share our version in a swap.  I am very sad that I am unable to attend but I am happy that I was able to get my cards done for the swap.  

These are not as difficult to make as much as you think they are.  I made one a while back and you can find that card along with the instructions here.  

For this card I used the "Guy Greetings" set and the "Going Places" Decorative Paper Stack from the 2016 Occasions Catalog.  

Google this technique on the net.  I've seen a lot of fun cards made using it.  Some even added some pop up images to the inside part of the band.  It's all about having fun with the cards!!

A Work of Art Gorgeous Grunge and Flower Shop Birthday Card

I found this fun card at "Wee Inklings".  I just HAD to make it. Not because it looked easy to make but because I liked the colors and the flower.  I have not played with the "Flower Shop" set for a while now.  There's a few changes from the original card but I like what I did!

To make this card I used Whisper White to stamp on.  The base of the card is Blushing Bride.  I stamped Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride and Pirouette Pink using a stamp from the "Work of Art" set.  

Then I stamped Blushing Bride ink using the splatter image, in 3 places.  I also used the fine splatter image in the bottom left corner and the top right corner.  

Then I stamped the flowers from the "Flower Shop" set using black ink.

The words are from the April 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit.  And the sequins were from an older Paper Pumpkin kit and I set them in place using glue dots.  That was it. Pretty simple.  It's just too darn cute, that is why I wanted to make it!!!

A Paper Pumpkin Birthday Card

Today I am going to share with you a simple and quick card I made using the April 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit.  This kit has a leafy round spring frame to make.  I don't need a frame decoration for my home, so I thought I would look online for some cards to make using the images that came with the kit. This kit had a large amount of images.  I'm excited to play with them again.  But for today I found a card on Pinterest that is similar to the one I made.  You can see that card here.

This card was made by using Basic Black for the base.  I added a layer of Lost Lagoon.  I found a few pieces of that card stock left.  It retires at the end of the month. I'm trying to use up what I have before I start buying new items.  

I stamped the images on Whisper White card stock.  I used Old Olive for the stem and leaves.  For the flower, I used Lost Lagoon ink (stamped off once on the larger petals).  I used Daffodil Delight for the center of the flower. There is a little small three line kind of scribble image that I stamped once, inked it up again, turned it 1/4 turn and stamped again.  The words are from the kit and I stamped them using Lost Lagoon.  Now that I'm looking at it, I think I should have used black ink. But it's okay, I still like it.  

It was a quick and easy card to make.

A Peek-a-Boo Technique Masculine Bear Hugs Card

This card was from one of Terri's fun Technique Tuesday nights.  This is called the "Peek-a-Boo" technique.

This card was made by Nancy. It was one that I received in the technique swap.  

It's such a fun masculine card. I LOVE the colors.  I don't have that ribbon, I wished I did, it looks like it's a lot of fun to play with.  

This is a very simple technique and I like the way that Nancy placed the bear over the decorative paper opening.

Diagonal Fold Technique Card

This card was made using the Diagonal Fold Technique.  It's a fun and easy technique to do.  I don't often make cards with a belly band but when I do I think they are fun and I wonder why I don't make them more often.  Probably if I do I would get tired of them and not think they are fun!!! This is one of many of the fun techniques Terri has taught at her Tuesday Technique Night.

So, let me tell you how this card was made.  You start out with a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) that is 12/ wide x 5-1/2" high.  You do need to pay attention to the orientation of the paper or you may have wording or images going the wrong way.  If you are not sure of yourself, just take a piece of the stamping mat paper or take some newspaper and cut them to that size.  Practice with that and then move onto the real stuff.  On the 12" side, score at 2", 4", 8", and 10".  Along the 5-1/2" side, mark the paper at 2-3/4" (this is your half way point).  Cut from that mark diagonally to the 4" score line.  

Add a 3-3/4" x 3-3/4" piece of Whisper White card stock to the middle panel for writing your sentiment. 

Next, take those cut off pieces and tape them to the bottom corners.  Make sure you turn the DSP the other direction so you have a contrast in color. Fold the score lines as you see how they are folded in the 2nd photo.  

Now for the Belly Band.  Cut an 11" long piece of card stock 3/4" wide.  Loosely wrap it around the card.  Adhere it in the center of the card, but not to the card.  Trim off the access.  Decorate as desired.  We used a flower punch and taped it to the seam of the Belly Band and it hid it very well.  The Belly Band looks seamless!

These are very fun to make and with different colors and styles of DSP, you can make some really beautiful cards.

A Tower or Box Technique Birthday Card

Today I have a very fun technique for you.  It goes by two different names, a Tower Card or a Box Card. 

It's not as difficult as it looks either.  Not only does it have two names, but there are two methods of making this card. Back in April I had made one of these cards.  Mine was called the Tower Card Technique.  You can see my card here. It is done a little differently than the one I'm going to talk about here.   Both are nice and both are easy to do. Though the one I did back in April has more pieces to it. It's all in how much you want to embellish it!

I did this form of the technique at Terri's Technique Tuesday. For this card, you cut your card stock 5-1/2 x 8-1/2".  Then you score it in three places.  I score the center first, that is at 4-1/4"  Then you need to score the other two sides in half at 2-1/8" each.  Now you fold the center in half like you normally fold a card.  Open it up and take the edges and fold them to the center.  Take a 4" x 4" piece of Designer Paper and tape it on over the "closed" card.  You want those raw edges to be in the middle of the card and the Decorative Paper is going to cover them.  Then we stamped the words on and punched out a 2-1/2" circle.  Card stock was textured and the balloons were punched out.  We tied Baker's Twine around the ends of the balloons.  Terri also showed us another fun thing.  We took the back of our scissors (not the blade), the scissors were closed.  And you pull the ribbon across it with your thumb like you would do for curling ribbon and the twine curled just enough to be cute!!!  What a clever idea!!  I LOVED it!

You can add white card stock or more decorative paper to the back and write you sentiment there.  It's a lot of fun and SUPER easy.

A Bear Hugs Peek-a-Boo Technique Card

I do not have the "Bear Hugs" stamp set or matching Framelits Dies.  I like bears but I didn't like the way the fur was done on them.  It reminds me of the hair legs on the adults in the "South Park" show.  I look at it and I just can't think bear.  I do like the flowers, heart and fish in the set but I couldn't justify buying the set just for those images.

Anyway, this was a card from one of the swaps at Terri's Technique Tuesdays.  It was made by Shelly. I LOVE the decorative paper, it's from the "Love Blooms" 6" x 6" paper stack.  I LOVE those paper stacks and I hope to see more of them in the new catalog.

A Guy Greetings Z-fold Technique Father's Day Card

With time flying by so quickly, I thought I would start making some Father's Day cards.  I find them super easy to come up with when you use the "Guy Greetings" set.  There's lots of images in there to play with. And lots of words too!  Grandpa, uncle, brother and husband too!!!  See, I told you there are lots, plus other words to use on top and inside the card. 

For my card I used the "Z-fold" technique. It's an easy and fun technique fold.  Cut your card stock 4-1/4" x 11".  Score and fold at 5-1/2" and then score and fold the front of the card at 2-3/4".  Fold the card as shown in the photo.  It's easy to do.  Just fold the card in half like you normally would.  Then take the edge of the front of the card and fold it towards the center fold.  

I used the "Going Places" paper stack for my decorative papers.  I cut the inside piece 4" x 5-1/4" and the front piece 2-1/2" x 4".

I stamped my car and punched it out with the 2-1/2" circle punch and then I used the 2-3/4" circle Framelit.  Now the tricky part, well, maybe not so tricky as much as paying attention!  Make sure you only tape the part of the circle that will be stuck to the front panel.  The first time I made one of these, I had taped the image onto the circle and then I turned it over and taped the back of that whole circle! My card was stuck shut!!! LOL  You've been informed ahead of time!!!

This is a fun fold technique to do and it also makes a SUPER quick and fun card!

A Guy Greetings Masculine Card

I found this fun card on Pinterest It was made by Leanne at Wee Inklings.  You can see her card here.  

It was a fun card to make.  I used the 2-1/2" circle punch to punch out the row of hats and shoes image.  Then I used the size a little larger in the circle framelits to make a nice layer behind the image layer.

The base of my card is Whisper White.  The base of the original card was Lost Lagoon.  I only had a quarter of a sheet of Lost Lagoon left and I didn't want to open the new package since this color is retiring at the end of the year.  

My decorative paper may be retired already, I don't remember.  I know I bought it when it first came out and I did not repurchase it in the current catalog.  I figured I could squeak by if the designs had changed.  I buy those packs and NEVER use them up.  I don't even think I even use up a single design in any of the colors in the pack. So I couldn't justify buying another pack of the same colors, even if the images had changed.  Anyway, I cut my strips 3-1/2" x 1-1/4" .  The Basic Black piece was cut 4-1/4" long by 1-3/4" wide.  I just played around with them until they set where it was pleasing to my eye.  

The "DAD" is in the "Guy Greetings" set. I stamped it using Lost Lagoon ink and punched it with the 3 size ribbon end punch.  I'm not sure what the name of that punch is.  Unfortunately I am not near my catalog to look it up.  I tucked the tag between the layers. 

The focal layer is set in place using Dimensionals.

It as a very simple and quick card to make. I think it would be a wonderful Father's Day card but it also makes a nice Birthday card for dad too!

A Z- Fold Swinging Technique Band Masculine Birthday Card
