I found a fun "Festive Fireplace" card on Pinterest made by Nicole Watt. You can view here card here. I did make several changes to it but there are a few things I did copy, like the words on the side and the wreath at the top. And of course the fireplace!!! I changed the background, mostly because I didn't have the decorative paper that she used. I used some from the "Merry Moments" 6" x 6" paper stack. I'm actually using a lot of paper from that stack. I wonder if I will use it up!!! LOL No way!!
Okay, let's talk about my card. I had to fussy cut out the fireplace and mantel. I did copy the color of the mantel and the color of the words. I used Crumb Cake ink, that is what the color looked like to me on Nicole's card. Once I cut out the fireplace, I cut out the center of the fireplace as well. Then I used Dimensionals and stuck a piece of Basic Black to the back of it. But before I did that I colored it in with markers and a blender pen. There are LOTS of layers with Dimensionals on this card! Next I colored the logs and flames. I set them in place on top of the black piece. I set the mantel in place with Dimensionals. Next I colored the stockings and set them in place on the mantel with a half of a Dimensional. There's not a lot of room behind them. I don't know if you can see it, but I wrote names on the stockings. This is a card for our son and his wife and kids. He never reads my blog so he won't see the card!
I stamped the wreath using Garden Green card stock. That was the color it looked like on Nicole's card. Then I used the Dazzling Details Cherry Cobbler on the berries on the wreath to give it some color. I think Nicole had just colored hers in with a marker. I wanted to add some sparkle to it. I may add a little sparkle to the flames too. I think the card could use a bit more "shine" to it. I added a bow to the top of my wreath. I don't believe Nicole added that.
This card was a lot of work and a lot of time was put into it. Plus a lot of love. I like the concept of the fireplace stamp and dies but I don't think I will make anymore cards using it. It's my sister's set and I will be returning it to her tomorrow so I thought I should make at least one card using it. I did and I'm done!!! It's a fun set but it requires a lot of time to make a decent card using it.
Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda

Beautiful card, well worth the effort! Perhaps you'll be tempted to borrow it again--next Christmas!
