Add a little glitz, add a little glamour! I stamped the Christmas label using VersaMark and then I embossed it in gold. I added a brushed gold layer of card stock behind it.
I used a muted dark mustard for the base of my card. On top of that I added a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of brushed gold card stock.I dug out my Wilton paper doilies and attached it to the center of the brushed gold piece. I also punched a 2-1/8″ circle of the brushed gold. I found a fun piece of decorative paper in the “Christmas & Winter stack by DCWV. I centered the circles on the doily. Next I took some gold cord and wound it 3 times around my fingers to form a messy circle. I taped it together at the bottom using regular clear tape. I did pull the circles out a bit so they looked even messier. I taped it in place about 1/3rd up from the bottom of the circle.
Next I added my greetings image. I was kind of stuck on what to do with the card next. It still needed something. Well, I get this bright idea to add some brads. Oh but I got the idea after (yes, after) I had attached the brushed gold layer. Now had I taped the layer I wouldn’t be whining here!!! LOL No, no tape, I used glue! Yes, my friends, I used glue. I find that tape does not stick as well to the brushed gold card stock, plus I had this little bulge from the gold cord that I needed to stick the layer to also. SO glue was the way to go. Now, perhaps if this brad idea had come to me before the glue or even just after gluing, it would have made adding them much easier. So what did I do, you ask? LOL Well, I got out an old pair of scissors and I cut the prongs down and folded them to the inside of the brad using a wooden chop stick. I set them in place using glue dots. I did the same thing with the larger brad on the top part of the card. And as you can see, the brad problem was resolved!!!
This was a very fun card to make and it’s got such a festive look!
