A Bloom with Hope Mother's Day Card

How about a bright and cheery Mother's Day card?  I love red on white!  

I used the "Bloom with Hope" set for the flower.  I masked off the medium size flower and then stamped my image.  I wanted the flower in the circle but not much of it showed and it looked like I had made a mistake and I didn't want that.  I make enough on my own without having the stamps make it look like I made another one!!!  Anyway, I stamped the image and colored it in using a blender pen and Real Red, Daffodil Delight, and Wild Wasabi markers.

I punched it out with the 1-3/4" circle punch.  The scallop came from the "Circle Card" Thinlits die.  I need to play with that die again, it's been a long time.  See, one thing leads to another!!!  I taped the flower on top of the scalloped piece and I set that in place using Dimensionals.

The words are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  Those were taped onto a piece of Real Red card stock that was punched out using the Modern Label punch.  I set that in place with Dimensionals as well.

I used an embossing folder on the background piece and I taped that in place on a folded half sheet of Whisper White card stock.

This is a super simple, easy and elegant looking card!!!  As I look at it, I wished I would have cut the embossed piece another 1/4" on two sides and then cut a piece of Real Red card stock 4" x 5-1/4" and then taped that to the folded half sheet.  I think it would have framed the card in a lot nicer.  But this is what I did and this is what you get to see!!!

A Moon Lake Pop Up Technique Card

Last week I participated in a card swap.  Every month at Terri's Technique Night for her downline, there is a swap using the techniques from the prior month. I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in the swap this month. I don't often get the opportunity to make cards and swap them.  I LOVE swaps and I would like to participate in them every month if I could.

This card was made by Nancy from Terri's group.  She used the Moon Lake set to make her swap card.

They are a lot easier to make than they look.  I whipped up a dozen of them in no time.  And when you fold them shut, they fit in a regular stamped card envelope.  I think they are A6, right???  

Have fun making these!!!  I think they would be fun as place cards.

A Painted Petals Mother's Day Card

I was going to use Coastal Cabana for my color here but I opted for Tempting Turquoise because it showed up darker.  The Coastal Cabana kind of "melted" into the paper and wasn't as bold as the Tempting Turquoise is.  

I used Pear Pizzazz for my green.  The words are from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set and I wish I had moved them to the left a bit more!

The decorative paper is from the Brights pack.  I have LOTS of that paper left (in each of the color groups)  UGH!!!  I may have to hit those stacks hot and heavy in the next month!!!  

This was a super easy and fun card to make.

A Flower Shop Mother's Day Card

I made another Mother's Day card.  The spring garage sale is coming up and I'm getting these cards ready for the children that come shopping with their parents.  I charge very little for them.  The kids love getting a card for their mom with some change in their pockets.  Plus I usually have inexpensive necklaces made for them to buy too.  I LOVE making cards and it's a good way for me to get rid of all the cards I have on hand that I no longer want to keep in my stash.  Plus some I make specifically with this sale in mind.  

I used the Moonlight paper pack for my decorative paper.  I cut the strips 1-1/4" x 3".  I set them in place on top of a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock.  I covered where the paper edge is at the bottom with a piece of ribbon.  I used Daffodil Delight ribbon because I didn't have any Hello Honey ribbon.

I stamped the flower using the Flower Shop set and Hello Honey ink.  I punched it out and set it on top of the ribbon using a Dimensional.  I added a pearl to the center.

The words were done using Lost Lagoon ink and the retired "All Holidays" set.  

This was a fun, quick and easy card to put together!!!  I'm not thrilled with the decorative paper.  I like my paper to be more colorful and more dotted or flowery designs!  I can't wait to see what the new papers will be like when the catalog comes out!!!

Petite Petals Mother's Day Card

My "Moonlight" paper stack is pretty full, so I thought I would relieve it of a sheet or two.  Well, I was able to relieve it of one!!!  I love these stacks, but much like the 12 x 12 DSP, I don't use as much as I wish to.  I need to make more of an effort to use it up.  Or at least put a bigger dent in the package!!

Today I thought I would play with the "Petite Petals" set.  It's not that I don't play with it enough, I do play with it and I do like playing with it!!!  I wanted to make a simple card and this one was very simple.  The use of decorative paper and stamp sets with matching punches makes for quick and simple cards.

The Modern Label punch is soon to be retiring, which makes me sad.  I hope something else comes out that will take it's place.  I do like Framelits but punches are SO much quicker because I don't have to line anything up on my Big Shot and I don't have to add any layers of platforms.  I just grab the punch, line it up, and punch!  Now on the other side of the Framelits, I like them because I can cut out fabric and felt with them!!!  

I used the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set for the words.  

The flowers were stamped using Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey ink.  They were punched out and set in place using Dimensionals.  I added a pearl to the center of each one.  I used the postage stamp punch on the back layer of the flower image. Those were punched using Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey card stock.

This was a fun card to make, though I am not thrilled with it.  The background is a bit too busy for me.  To improve on this I think I should have added the decorative paper on top of some Whisper White card stock.  Then I could have just stamped the words on the white below the ribbon.  That would break up that busy background.  What do you think??

Teeny Tiny Wishes Party Favor

Today I wanted to see if I could work the Party Favor candy holder into more of a card form.  And I did!!!  

For this card, I used the "Lullaby" decorative paper and the soon to be retiring Crisp Cantaloupe card stock.  There was very little stamping done here.  I used the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" and the set, and the "Bitty Banners" Framelits to cut the words out.

I used the "Bow Builder" punch for the adorable bow on the right side.  And ribbon was tied on the left to hold in the candies.  

The instructions for this fun party favor can be found here.  These are so fun and easy to make.  I'm pretty sure I will be making a bunch of these for a baby shower in the near future!!!  I think these would also make a great stocking stuffer or even a teacher gift!!  Oh and don't forget the Hostess gift or Customer Appreciation gift.  What a fun little thing to give away along with the instructions to make them!!!

A Too Kind Mother's Day Card

I just realized something.  I don't make many landscape cards.  Most of mine are portrait orientated.  What's up with that?  And why did it take me so long to realize that?  I think sometimes we get into a routine with our card making and we tend to keep things the same orientation.  It's not intentional, it's just the way we are wired!!!  We tend to think that cards open like a book and that is how we most often make them!  Well, today I stepped out of my usual routine and I made a landscape card!!!

I found this card on the net.  It was made by Jill Franchette at Jill's Ink.  I thought it was such a pleasing card to the eye, and it just happened to be a landscape layout!!!  I did change the wording.  I think hers used one of the words images from that same set.  I used the "Happy Mother's Day" from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  

The flowers are from the "Too Kind" set.  And the colors used here are the soon to be retiring Coastal Cabana and Pistachio Pudding.  I have liked working with those colors.  They are very spring like and created such a happy feeling.  I hope the next new in colors will have that same effect.  I just can't imagine any new colors.  Haven't we seen them all now?  LOL

Quarter Fold Card Technique

 Tuesday I was at Terri's Technique Night for her downline.  I LOVE helping her out.  I get to visit with the other demonstrators.  I get to see what they've been doing, their projects and time saving ideas.  And I get to help them out when I can!   It's a fun night and I look forward to it every month.

Last month the group learned how to make the "Quarter Fold" card.  So that meant this month they had made the card and participated in the swap.  I was fortunate enough to participate in the swap this month.  I usually don't have a lot of spare time to make card for the swap. But this time I did and I was glad I was able to.  I had gotten some fun and nice cards from it.  

Today's card was made bu Julie K.  I love how she used an embossing folder to texture the card stock but my favorite part is her colorful belly band and bow. I LOVE that little bow maker punch!!! I need to play with it more.  I don't know the name of the decorative paper.  That's the downside of the swap, the only downside!!!

Crazy about You Mother's Day Card

I have not posted in a few days.  I have been in a lot of pain with my hip and my knee.  I'm falling apart!!!  I have resolved to the fact that getting older things happen to your body.  But why does it have to hurt?  It should be one or the other, but not both.  None at all would be ideal!!!  Okay, I'm done whining and I headed down to my workroom to make a fun card.  I found this layout at Jackie's Klompen Stampers blog.  It was done with Washi tape.  I didn't have any of the new washi tapes so I used some decorative paper from the "All Abloom" paper stack.  I LOVE those stacks.  You get a lot of paper for the money!!! I never seem to use the whole pack up.  Oh come on, I never use the whole pack of the 12 x 12 paper either!!! LOL

Okay, not that the whining and confessions are over, I'll tell you how fun and simple this card was to make.

I just cut my decorative paper into strips.  It doesn't matter what size.  I left them the long and cut the edge when I was done putting them on my background.

Once the strips were in place, I stamped the flower.  Mine came from the "Crazy about You" set.  Jackie had used the "Petal Potpourri" set.  And we both used the "Flower Medallion" punch on the flower.  It seems that I don't make many flower cards that don't have a matching punch with them anymore.  I've gotten not only lazy about it but dependent on them as well!!  It doesn't take much to spoil me!

The flower was set in place with Dimensionals.  I punched out another flower using Pistachio Pudding card stock.  I cut two of the petals and used them as leaves.  I taped them in place on top of the decorative paper.  I added a Candy Dot to the center of the flower.

The words are from the "Crazy about You" set.  I lined them up on my clear block and stamped both lines of words at one time.  It would have been even better if I were making a bunch of cards.  Having all the words lined up would have made it super easy to whip out several cards!

The base of the card is Strawberry Slush, the next layer is Pistachio Pudding, and the top piece is Whisper White.  I told you it was simple.  It was quick and easy!!!

Thoughts and Prayers Northern Lights Technique

What a fun technique this is!!!  This was my second attempt.  After I made my first one I realized where I wanted my colors to go and then went from there.  I wanted to make sure I got some yellow, green, and blue on the bottom to give the illusion of having grass, or the ground there.  

The tutorial I used for this fun technique can be found here.  I didn't use the gel pen for the stars.  I have never had any luck with those gel pens.  They work for the first few times and then after that I can never get them to work. I have given up on them.  I used the white chalk marker and got the same effect of stars in the sky.  And I didn't have any issues with the pen!

I used the Teeny Tiny Wishes set for the words and the Modern Label punch for the layer behind them.  I also used the Circle Framelits for the two circles.  

My card stock colors here are Old Olive, Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry, and Whisper White.

I do like this technique!  I may have to try it with the Moon Lake set.  That promises to be fun!

Something Borrowed and Teeny Tiny Wishes Wedding Favor

Today I was playing with some of this fun "Something Borrowed" decorative paper.  I always think wedding when I see this paper.  I found a fun party favor to make and this wedding paper came to mind.  Well, both items kind of found themselves together!  I can't find the link to where I got the pattern, so I will have to give you the measurements and how to make it.

Take a piece of 3" x 7-1/2" card stock.  I used Sahara Sand.  Score the piece on the long side at 1-3/8", 1-7/8" 3-1/4", and 3-3/4".  Fold the score lines to form a rectangle box.  Use Sticky Strip to tape the bottom part of the box.  Now you can decorate the box as you wish.

I used the Something Borrowed paper to decorate mine.  I cut the pieces as follows:  the top piece measures 1-1/8" x 2-3/4" and the larger piece on the side measures 2-1/8" x 2-3/4".  I added the "thank you" using the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.  Then I set it in place using Dimensionals.  I added some pearls to the front and then I filled that box space in with 3 Hershey's  Nuggets and tied a ribbon around it.  SO quick and simple.  I could see doing this for a baby shower or even a graduation!

A Mixed Bunch Petite Petals and Wetlands Pop Up Technique Card

I made one of these stand up cards a few weeks ago.  You can see it here.  There is also a link to the instructions on how to make it.  They are not at all difficult to make, surprisingly so!  

I used Melon Mambo for the base of this card.  I also decorated the front of the base with strips of Sweet Taffy decorative paper.  It's a great way to use up those little pieces of scraps!

The center part is made using Tempting Turquoise.  I used the Mixed Bunch set for the flower and the flower center.  The center was stamped using Daffodil Delight ink.  I added a Candy Dot to the center.

I set the flower in place using Dimensionals.  The tiny flowers are from the Petite Petals set.  I set those in place using Dimensionals.  I liked making this card because SO much of it was done with punches!!!  It went together quickly!!  

These cards are fun to make and they fold up to fit in the envelopes that hold the 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" cards.  I think they are called A6 envelopes.

A Wetlands and Butterfly Framelits Birthday Card

I do have a lot more fun with these detailed framelits now since I saw how to cut them out using waxed paper on both sides of the card stock.  The pieces just pop out.  I never have to try to force them out and risk ripping my card stock.  It has made me love using these now.  I LOVED the doily one and I think it's still in the current catalog, though I could be wrong.  I still have it and I am going to find where I put it and have some fun with it. I found that one to be so frustrating because I could not get a clean cut and then I'd have to snip pieces out and try to pop them out. Many times I would tear my card stock and then try to glue it in place and make it look like it was okay.  I was not happy with it and now I could play with them all day long!!!  Okay, onto my card.

I think the Sweet Taffy decorative paper could have been replaced with something that had larger images on it.  But this scrap was laying around and I thought I would use it.  It's not ugly but it just needs something more.  

The words are from the Wetlands set.  Those are such fun words.  They remind me of the Sincere Salutations set.  It was a super fun set that had all the sentiments you needed in it.  I still have mine and use it now and then.  

The butterfly was done in Tempting Turquoise, as was the border layers.  And the rest of the card stock is Whisper White.  This was a very simple card to make and quick too!

A Flower Shop Petite Petals Crazy about You Mother's Day Card

Today's card took a little more time to make than the cards I have been making lately.  It was fun to just sit at my worktable and play for a while.  Plus I'm doing laundry so I just HAVE to be down in my workroom.  You never know, the washer may go off balance and I need to be there!  Right?  LOL  It works for me.  

I like the looks of this card, I just wish I would have made the Flower Shop flowers out of a more solid image.  They look too light and faded.  I used three different colors for them too.  The focal layer is Crisp Cantaloupe so of course one of the flowers had to be stamped in that color of ink.  Then I used Tangerine tango and Calypso Coral.  

The centers were stamped using Hello Honey ink and the Petite Petals stamp set.  The center of the flowers are the Candy Dots.  See, from the center to the Petite Petals flower, the colors are bright and vivid and then the Flower Shop comes in there and kind of drabs it up.  It's still pretty but it could be improved upon!

I used a piece of Daffodil Delight ribbon since I didn't have any Hello Honey.  It blended well enough to use it.  

The words are from the Crazy about You set.  It's one of those sets that I forgot I had.  I LOVE word sets and it's always fun to get new ones.  I hope this isn't going to replace Teeny Tiny Wishes.  There's no Modern Label like punch to go with it.  Or even a Word Window punch for it to fit in. Maybe Stampin' Up! will come up with wider ones!!! Wouldn't that be fun?  I won't get rid of my other two or the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.  

Okay, back to my card.  I used a paper doily in the background.  I actually used two together.  One was too thin.  I probably could have used 3 because I can still see a through the two.  But I got the concept across with two.  I stamped the Crazy about You "Happy" on it using Tangerine Tango ink.  And the "Mother's Day" words were stamped in the same color ink.  

It was an easy card to make, it just took a little time to stamp and punch and layer.  But it was SO worth it. I do like how it turned out.

Another Mother's Love Mother's Day Card

Yes, I did leave the "Mother's Love" set out but that wasn't why I used it again.  I thought it would be fun to play with some decorative paper layers.  One of these days I'll get them straight!!! The stripes are straight but something went wrong with the dotted paper.  UGH!!!

I stamped the words using Tempting Turquoise.  The decorative papers are from the Brights paper stack (for the dotted paper) and the stripes are from the Sweet Taffy paper.  I set that layer in place using Dimensionals.

I added some Candy dots to the front and the card was done. Simple, sweet, and very colorful.

A Mother's Love Mother's Day Card

I found a fun card made by Marina at Marina's Craft Space.  I thought it would be fun to try to make one using Stampin' Up! products.  Plus I needed to make yet another Mother's Day card.  Being so sick, I ran behind on my card making.  

I thought this card would be fun to make and it was.  I used the Sweet Taffy decorative paper for the colored strip.  It was the closest I could come to the striped paper that Marina used.  

I got out my circle Framelits (noticed one was missing in the pack but that is irrelevant to this post!  LOL) and I cut out the center circle, after stamping the words.  And let's talk about the words. I think they would have been prettier using Tempting Turquoise instead of the black.  I can't change it because it's set in place using Dimensionals and it will rip the paper if I try to remove it.  

I added some Candy Dots to the front for some more added color and dimension.  

This was a very fun card to make.  I think I would like to try another one using smaller circles (once I find my missing die!).

Teeny Tiny Wishes Mother's Day Weaving Technique Card

I am not sure if I have done a woven card front or not.  It sort of rings a bell but if I have, I don't think it was with this many strips. I found this card made by Angie at Too Cool Stamping.   I thought it would be fun to give it a try.  And yes, it was fun!

I used the same colors as she did.  The only thing I changed was the type of butterfly and the words.  Other than that it's pretty much the same.

The base of the card is Lost Lagoon.  The next layer is Hello Honey.  Then Whisper White was added to the top.  There's a strip of Sahara Sand card stock on the left.  Then the weaving was constructed from 3-1/4" x 3/4" strips of decorative paper.  This paper is from the little Moonlight paper stack.  I love those little stacks.  You get a lot of variety for the money.

You just weave the pieces together.  I did start with a square of scrap in the center so I could have something to stick the first strip on to and then work outward from there.  It's very simple to do and so fun!  What a cute way to get 6 pieces of decorative paper to pull together to make a fun focal piece! 

Give this technique a try, I think you will find it fun and simple too!

A Big Day Birthday Card

I know Sale a Brations is over but I had seed a card something like this at a stamp a stack and I just had to make it.  I wanted to get it done before Sale a Brations ended but I had gotten sick and was laid up for a few days.  So I'm making up for lost time.  It was such a fun card to make.  I did change the colors so it was a super bright and cheery card.

I used the Big Day birthday set for the words.  The bow making punch and Tempting Turquoise card stock.  I also used the Sweet Taffy decorative paper.  

It was a very simple card to make. I just love how bright and cheery the card looks!

Blooming with Kindness Mother's Day Card

Okay, I promised you a better card than yesterday! Well, I think it's better anyway, and I hope you do too!!!

As I was looking through the current stamp sets that I own I ran across the Bloom with Kindness one and I thought I would play with it today.  You can make a super simple card using this set to a more complex card (secret is out on tomorrow's card!!).  For the cards I'm going to be selling next month, I'm trying to stick with quick and simple.  I don't want to spend a lot of time on the cards, nor do I want to use a lot of product on them either.

This card was super simple to make. I started out with a half sheet of Whisper White card stock.  I stamped the flower using Pink Pirouette ink and then rolled on Rose Red ink on the edges and tapped the corner of the pad in the center area a few times.  I did use a small post it note to cover the flower stem.  I removed the post it and colored in the stem with the Wild Wasabi marker.  The words are from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set and I stamped them using the Rose Red ink. 

The layer behind the focal piece is Rose Red.  I cut it 5" x 3-3/4".  The focal piece is cut at 4-3/4" x 3-1/2". Cutting the card stock that way leaves a very wide white border on the base part of the card stock.  It also helps to make an elegant looking card.   I think this card would also be great as a Thinking of you card, a Birthday Card, a Get Well card, a Sympathy Card, and even a Thank You card.  And of course a Mother's Day card!!!

Butterfly Thinlits Mother's Day Card

I ran across another unfinished card that seems to look a lot like the card in the previous post!!!  Well, as far as layout and colors go.  It was from one of Terri's Stamp a Stacks.  I had not finished the card there. I finished one and took the rest of the stuff home with me to put together.  I never learn that I don't finish those when I do that.  But I did make a card with the parts anyway.  I'm not thrilled with the card and I promise I will have a much nicer and more inviting card for you tomorrow.  I'm just getting over a horrible stomach flu and I'm finally starting to feel better.

This card was pretty simple to make.  I used the Framlit "Labels" to make the layers.

I used the beautiful "Butterflies" Thinlit on Whisper White card stock.  I sponged the butterfly using Coastal Cabana ink.  The card was made using Coastal Cabana and Whisper White card stock.  The words were done on my computer.  I'm still making Mother's Day cards for the sale next month.

I'm glad I was at least able to use the card stock that I had partially finished.  I'll find my workroom counter top soon!!!  I often wonder how it gets so messy!!!  I don't like to put stuff away.  And when I need to make a space to clean or have stampers over I tend to pile things up.  I do have great intentions on dealing with the pile (but not right away).  There, I guess I just answered my own question.  

So, please stop back tomorrow for a much better card!  I promise!

A Beautiful Bunch Mother's Day Card

I ran across a card that was half finished.  By half finished I mean, the base of the card was cut and folded.  And the decorative paper was already stuck to the card front.  

I just added the flower using the Beautiful Bunch stamp set and matching punch.  I used Coastal Cabana for the ink.

The words are from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.  The card is a bit blah but I was not in any creative mood.  I am just getting over a horrible flu and I don't have much ambition at all.  Isn't it amazing how tired you can get from just laying around?  Yesterday I was far worse than I was today.  I couldn't get comfortable at all.  Every inch of me ached.  I spent the day in front of the tv and as tired as I was I couldn't get comfortable enough to get even a 10 minute nap in.  I rarely get sick, but when I do, I do!!  But fortunately I'm feeling better and I will be back at work tomorrow.  I will hopefully have a better card for you tomorrow.
