Once again I found myself wondering if I would have time to play with the SplitCoastStampers Sketch Challenge this week. I really do look forward to the Wednesday Sketch Challenge. I am hoping to play with some of the other challenges they have when I find the time. But for now I'll just keep doing these. I have been doing them for over 218 weeks now! Yup, 218 weeks!!! I've only missed a couple because they were just too much of a challenge for me. And those that I missed were square cards. And from working these sketches week after week I was finally able to do a square card and not back away from it. I took on the challenge and I did it! And now when they toss in a square care I am up for the challenge!!
This weeks challenge is not square, it's (in my opinion) a normal card!! Just looking at it, it looks a bit difficult but it actually wasn't. You just start with the base card and work the layers.
The flower was stamped on Pretty in Pink card stock using white embossing powder. I cut it out and sponged the edges with Pretty in Pink ink. And the same was done with the leaves using Certainly Celery card stock and ink. Every time I do a card with this set and I cut the pieces out I tell myself that I'm not going to make anymore of those flowers and leaves and a few days later I'm back cutting out flowers and leaves!!! I just couldn't help it, it was just what the card needed!
I like to do my layers in black and when I did the border punch in the Certainly Celery card stock, I didn't like the way it looked against the background. I wasn't sure what I was going to do there until it dawned on me why I wasn't liking what I was seeing. There was no black layer. Well, a piece of black card stock for the layer didn't look right either so I decided to try to punch one out to match the Certainly Celery one and I got it pretty close. I layered the black one under the Certainly Celery one and it was exactly what that space needed. I was then pleased with the entire card!!
This was a very fun sketch and I can see myself making another one sometime in the future.
Thank you SO much for stopping by today,
Wanda
