I was playing around with the "Vintage Wallpaper" embossing folder. When I started playing with it I wasn't sure if I was going to make a card or just experiment with the texture. After I ran the folder and card stock through my Big Kick I liked the look of it but it was just too dark. SO I thought I would run the brayer over it with Whisper White craft ink. It made the texture pop and I was much happier with the background.
Next I made the rectangle layer. I used Garden Green and a piece of Real Red for the layers under the Whisper White. I stamped the image from the "Fast & Fabulous" Hostess set. It's such a fun set to play with. And the words, you guessed it, are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set. This set does not just sit at my worktable and is used because it's convenient!! I just like the set and it's got all they sayings I need for almost every card I make.

After the stamping I tied a piece of Real Red grosgrain ribbon around the panels. I set it on the card and still didn't like what I saw. Alone the rectangles were just too small. I ended up using my "Scalloped Circle" die and trimmed it up a bit to fit behind the panels. I just wanted a little bit of it sticking out and that is what I got!! When I got it all together I wasn't happy with it because it looked a bit too "Christmasy" because of the green. I should have used black or even a dark blue! Usually I notice these things after I take the photo and post it on here!! This card gets a thumbs down and I don't think I'll be reworking it to try to improve it. It's just not inspiring me.
I am in the middle of a few small projects for this weekend. And I'm SO looking forward to sharing them with you. The DIVA day event is on Sunday so Sunday evening I will start showing you these fun things. I can't show you now because I think some of the gals at the meeting peek in on my blog and I don't want to spoil the surprise!!
Thanks SO much for visiting today,
Wanda

ReplyDeleteHi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteThis card is simply sweet :0)
I like your card, Wanda, but I think that dark blue or black would have worked a little better...... now we know that occasionally you want to do something different also. I sure do that!
