Salty Sandals!!! Weekend Project

Here is another "Weekend Project" that won't take you all weekend to do unless you are making TONS of them!!! These are so fun and quick you may want to make TONS of them!! I find they make great little fun "girly" gifts. Who doesn't like a reason to soak in a nice hot tub for a while???

I used the Stampin' Up! Box #2 Die. This is one of those dies that I sure do get a lot of use out of. I am hoping they come out with one that opens from the side instead of the top. That way I can have the window at the top and it will display bon bons or whatever!!

This was a fun project for me to do because bath stuff is right up my alley!! The simple bath salt recipe can be found here. I like to use this recipe because I usually have the "stuff" in the house to make it!!! Mix them up and set them aside in a container with a lid. You don't want dust in it. Plus you want to contain the fragrance.

Then I cut out my box. I did have to cut out the window with an X-acto blade. I wasn't able to use a punch to do it because of the top and bottom being designed the way they were. Not that there is anything wrong with their design, it just isn't meant for what I wanted to do with it.

After I got it cut out I used the Stampin' Up! "See You Around" jumbo wheel. I stamped it in Bashful Blue ink on Bashful Blue card stock. Then I took the white gel pen and filled in some of the open circles. I just wanted the box to have a bit more color and "depth."

I glued the window in before I glued the side flap to the box. I used a clothespin to hold the flap in place to dry. While the glue was drying I stamped the sandals using the stamp from "Just Beachy" set. Aren't they just adorable??? I colored the flower in using YoYo Yellow and the straps and edges were colored in using Bashful Blue. I glued them in place as you see in the photo.

I then took 2" x 3" zip baggies and filled them with the bath salts. The box holds 3 of them. I took 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon and tied it around the box. It wasn't enough, the box looked like it needed just a little something more. SO I got out the flower punch and punched 3 flowers using white card stock. I took the end of the gel pen and pressed the flowers onto a piece of 1/4" thick Fun Foam. Then I colored the edges with the YoYo Yellow marker and I made a dot of yellow in the center. I drew some lines on the flower to show petals. It was easy to see those "lines" because the paper crinkled just right when I pressed it in the Fun Foam with the gel pen. I glued the flowers on the upper right corner and It brightened up the box and left it with a more completed look. Now it is ready for gift giving. These would make a great Stamp Camp project, Hostess Gift, Customer Appreciation Gift, Make N Take and Slumber Party Projects/Gifts.

If you are going to make these to sell you will need to use the Stampin' Up! copyright stamp on the box (probably on the bottom). And you will need to type up the ingredients and instructions. Be sure to include something about not intended for children under 5.

Isn't it a fun project? You can be SO creative with these things!!! I'd LOVE to see what you do with them!!

Thanks SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
