I was playing around with some decorative papers (I have a bunch of the 6" x 6" ones I need to use up) and I thought I'd make a birthday card with it. I really wanted a quick simple card. Most of the time they are quick with decorative papers but when you start adding things like punched circles, brads and paper piercing the card isn't so quick anymore. But it was still pretty simple.
After I saw this card in the photo I took I regretted using the green on the top left strip. I think I should have used the Ruby Red there. My eye keeps getting pulled to the right to look at the bird. That is a good thing because the bird is suppose to be the focal point of the card but your eye is suppose to continue to move around the card. Mine just stays focused on the bird. I'll have to remake this card and let you all decide what you think!!!
I really didn't do anything special on this card other than using a blender pen on the bird body and under the bird for the shadow. I colored in everything else with markers. I used the white gel pen to draw in the stitches and I added some 3/4" circles and brads to the strip on the left.
As you can tell I'm not overly thrilled with this card. SO I redid it by changing the color of the strip on the left. I like this MUCH better. It keeps the eye moving doesn't it??

Wanda, that is so cool the way you did that strip on the left! I like both, but I think you are right; the second one seems a little better because your eyes do move across the card. TFS!
I really like this one - I think I will have to give it a try.
Wanda, both cards are wonderful! Love how you did the border strip with the circles and brads that is really neat. Great choice of colors, wonderful job!
I agree, the 2nd card does look much better with the color change on the strips. I'll have to give that a try, I love the look! Nice card, TFS!
