Fun Filled Not So Fun? Card Game Blog Candy!

Did you ever "whip up a card" and actually have it look like you whipped one up??? Well, the more I look at this card the more I'm seeing that. Yes, I did just "whip up" this card but I REALLY didn't want it to look like it.

If you click on the picture you can see the image enlarged. I used the Linen background stamp on the largest background card stock but you can't really see it. The more I look at this card the more I think it could have used some black. And that button could have been omitted. I'm seriously going to have to rethink this card!

Any suggestions? I can handle it!!! Actually I will take what you suggest and make the card accordingly! That sounds like fun and like a challenge!!! Don't get too crazy though, I'm trying to improve the card!!!! LOL

I will pick 5 suggestions and run with them! Who wants to play? Yes, there is candy involved. Though I often wonder about all this candy. Weren't you ever taught NOT to take candy from strangers??????? I'll find something (blog candy) and post it with a finished suggestion!

I can't wait to hear your suggestions.

Thanks for checking in!
Wanda

I actually like the card. The only thing I would change is the piece that has the crosshatch stamping on it. I would make it bigger so the part with the boots could fit on top of it. Does that make sense? Thanks!

Well, I think it just needs a little ribbon on the bottom half to balance it out and you may be right about losing the button. But otherwise it looks pretty good!

I would make the piece that has the diamonds a little narrower and longer to got with the focal point a bit better.

First of all I love the colors and textures you have created with this card. Keep everything the same but just move some things around.

Take off the button and add a 3-D mounted flower in it's place. Take the main image and move it to the left and pop it so you can run some ribbon and twine under it. Secure the button to the right of the image with the twine. If you want to add some bling add gold brads in the corners of the card base.

Hope that helps! Next time I am not feeling the love for a card I am going ask my blog readers to throw me a help line...cool idea.

Hey, I like the idea of popping up a flower definatley.

Just a thought...what about clear embossing the boots. Might make them pop more.

I'm wondering if you might change the background printed paper to the bottam instead of the top of the card. I think this pattern against the flowers & button is a bit "too busy". I loved the patterned paper, but I think it will look even better behind the boots instead. Otherwise I love the card, as is.

I'd move the harlequin ( diamonds ) panel down to the bottom end rather than the top. Other than that I really, really like your card. Will probably have to CASE it. :)

I like the card as well....I agree that the button can go and maybe some ribbon!

I think a little glitter and or Crystal Effects will make something pop. Say the flowers?

Hi Wanda -

I love the colors. I am thinking you could turn the top part with the diamonds the other direction and maybe a bit wider if necessary and layer it underneath the boot layer. You could add your darker color in there as another layer between the two orange layers. Hope that makes sense.

I really like this card just how it is.. But may be a piece of hodgepodge with ribbon and a little tag..

Although I like the card, my suggestion would be to move the focal over to the right, move the printed piece so its running vertical, keep it behind the focal but it little to the left and a little higher so it looks like it's shadowing it. Take the button and put it in the top right hand corner of the printed piece. Hope that make sence.

I think that I would have done different colors of cardstock. I probably would have used stickles or glitter on the flowers and omitted the button and add a bow at the bottom. but then I am new at this....

I'd put the main panel on dimensionals. And perhaps a real flower instead of the button. Great colors...great layout. I think it just needs some dimension!

Right now I haven't looked at anybody elses comment, so sorry if I replicate, but I like your card, and the button!!! the only thing I would possibly change if necessary is move the harlequin piece to the bottom of the card and not the top, but apart from that I love it

It's not a bad card at all. My first take was to just move the harlequin panel to the bottom just to help ground the boots. Seems others have the same take. The button doesn't add anything, but a small eyelet where the boot buckle is might help. This is fun, but you're brave. I certainly wouldn't want to put one of my cards up for scrutiny. Linda

I like the card but I agree it needs something. I think maybe a prima flower in the bottom right corner would help or a chipboard flower.

I would have one of the larger flowers on one of the stems closer to the boot top. I thought the button was a little too "heavy" looking on the card. Maybe use a smaller button for one of the smaller flowers.

I really like the colours in this!

I like the card, but not big on the button. How about making the piece with the diamonds vertical and overlaying the piece the boots? For a staggered look? Did that make sense?

Also some glitter or Ribbon to complete it?

But as I said, the skeleton of the card is great!

I do like the card....but I am not sure I am lovin' the button...I think if you can I would take off the button and maybe put a piece of ribbon around the bottom portion to maybe off-set it a little bit. Great color combination though.
Keep up the fantastic work!!

What about putting a piece of ribbon under the layered boot image and tie it in a knot just right of it? Then maybe put the button on the lower left corner.

Love the colors of your card. If I were you, I would add the French script BG to the Pumpkin Pie cardstock and then in the four corners where you have the corners punched with the Corner Notch punch, I would add brads. It is a great card...maybe add dimensionals to the image, use the French Script BG and the brads would make it POP!
Just my opinion...

Hi, I like the card, too, but I think maybe if you want to change it to stamp a background stamp on the largest layer and you could add a couple of eyelets and maybe some ribbon. How about popping a flower up instead of the button?

Ribbon towards the bottom would tie it all up.

I love the colors, they pop out at you. I would make the top piece, I believe it is called crosshatch? I would make it bigger and turn it on its side on the left of the card. Then I would center the piece with the boots on the crosshatch up and down but a little to the right. I hope you can understand what I mean. But overall a really nice card.

An idea is to put some glitter on the flower centers and maybe a shadow under the boots so it looks like they are sitting on something and not just floating.

I like what you've done with the card...the popped up flower, button and backgrounds look great. How about adding a layer of a different color...maybe sage to match your stems?

I think it's great - colors, and all, and the only thing that I might try changing, would be to make the boots glossy with crystal laquer or whatever that shiny stuff is called. If the flowers were all buttons, it could be kind of a theme, so it wouldn't feel out of place...I think. Overall, I like it lots! TFS!

Love the color and layout. I think if you cut the boots out and maybe use clear embossing powder. Do the same with the flowers and maybe keep the button and layer the others and add some stickles or glitter to them. This would pop out your main image. Of course ribbon always adds a nice touch. What a creative way for suggestions and a chance for some FUN candy. Can't wait to see what you do with the card next.
