Close as a Memory

I need to make sympathy cards for a swap I'm in and I thought I'd give the set "Close as a Memory" a try. I've had it cut out for a few months but haven't had time to mount it. SO this was a perfect time to do that! I like the Ruby Red color but for this card it was a bit too bright so I toned it down with the "Flannel Plaid" background stamp. Yes, I did say flannel on a sympathy card. Interesting but it did work here! I used three backgrounds on this card. I used "Linen" on the Very Vanilla card stock and on the long piece I used the "French Script". The flower was done using markers and a couple spritz from the spray bottle. I sponged the edges on the vanilla card stock only.

I made another one and I put the long strip in the middle and the flowers on one side of it and the words to the other but I didn't like that layout as well. I think I should have centered the words on this one. I played with the pieces on this one for a long time before I decided to go with this layout.

Thank you for checking in!

This is lovely...all the sponging is great.

I always find sympathy cards difficult to make. Can't be too cute or embellished. Simple yet sophisticated work well, and that is what you did with this card! Very nice!

Hi Wanda
Can you explain what you mean when you say you "spritz" the card? Do you use glossy paper when you do that?
Thanks!
Denise

Hello Denise,

I am unable to reply to comments directly, a safety feature for you set-up by Blogger. If you'd like to email me with any questions, on the right column of the blog you can find my email address.

On to your question: I didn't actually "spritz" the card. I colored the flowers and leaves, etc. in with marker and I spritzed the rubber stamp before I pressed the image onto the Whisper White card stock. No, it wasn't the glossy card stock.
I hope I was able to answer your question.
Thanks SO much for checking in!
